“Is this your boyfriend, Jasmine?” Aurora suddenly asked, which provoked Jasmine to snatch her gaze from Noah and looked at Aurora.
She stole a glance at Noah's face, and the inscrutable look on his face made her hair stand on end.
Smiling awkwardly, she took her gaze back to Aurora and moved closer, “No, Aurora. Don't pay attention to him,”
Aurora didn't utter another word, she was only gazing at the grocery bags they were both carrying.
“She's my girlfriend,” Xavier pronounced behind Jasmine and before Jasmine could turn around, he had wrapped his free hand around her shoulder.
“Don't be stupid, Xavier, we already broke up!” Jasmine raised her eyes to him and exploded in rage.
Even though she wasn't in a relationship with Noah, he didn't want him to think that she and Xavier were now back together.
However, Xavier didn't pay attention to her as he continued to gaze down at Aurora and bent a bit. “Little one, please tell your Daddy to stay away from my girlfriend,” he requested, a soft smile touching his lips.
By this time, Jasmine's chest was now heaving up and down in outrage, “Are you out of your mind? Have you lost it? What are you even saying?” she kept ranting on and on, struggling to break free from Xavier's grasp.
During this whole ordeal, Xavier heaved his head up and returned his gaze to Noah, and their gazes collided. It was more powerful than ten thousand words and ten thousand fights.
Shortly thereafter, Xavier grabbed Jasmine's wrist and trotted away.
Jasmine wasn't going to give in, she kept slapping his hand that was holding her hand, trying hard to get rid of his hand, “Let me go, Xavier. Are you crazy?” she shouted.
Xavier turned to look at her briefly and said, “Yes, I'm crazy for you, Jasmine”
Jasmine would have blushed terribly upon hearing these words from him before, but now, she felt even more furious. She bent over and bite his hand severely.
She had dug her teeth in so deep that she had drawn blood, which fell to the floor and spread like blooming red floors.
Of course, Xavier felt this severe pain. However, he didn't let go of Jasmine's hands as he continued to stride forward until they got to where his car was parking.
All this time, both Noah and Aurora were still watching the whole drama. Noah did not know exactly what kind of mood he was having at the moment, but he knew for sure that seeing Jasmine with her ex-boyfriend wasn't pleasant enough.
Some moments later, Xavier drove into the yard of the bungalow. Jasmine had not let the car park properly before she pushed the door open and jumped out of the car.
Looking enraged, she veered around to the driver's side and as soon as Xavier came down from the car, she raised her hand and gave him a hard slap across his cheek.
“What in the hell is your problem? Huh!" she cried out hysterically to his face.
Stunned, Xavier subconsciously touched his face. The area where she was slapped was stinging and there was a buzzing in his ears.
“What do you want me from me now after saying to my face that we are incompatible? Have you forgotten all you said to me already? You said you were never in a relationship with me, you said I'm not your taste that you only wanted to get in my panties once, and yeah, you got it. You got it numerous times, Xavier, so what do you want again?
She trembled violently because of anger, while her neck and temple all tensed up with blue veins standing out, and her chest wouldn't stop heaving up and down.
Xavier stared at her face speechlessly. He parted his lips severally but couldn't produce a word.
“Believe me, Xavier, I don't know what your motive is, but whatever it is, don't think you can ever win my heart again. I would rather have my head chop off instead,” she said through gnashed teeth, her fury eyes burning into Xavier's eyes.
This time, Xavier's eyes and mouth had widened in disbelief, as though he had not expected such words from Jasmine.
Without saying another word, Jasmine turned around but as she turned, Xavier was already calling out to her, “Jasmine, please listen to me,”
Jasmine opened the car door, snatched her stuff, and then stomped off into her apartment.
Watching her receding figure and, for the first time in years, tears blurred Xavier's vision as he felt his heart ache terribly.
Jasmine headed into the kitchen but collapsed in tears immediately and the bags slide off her hands.

Aurora stared at her father's lost face as he dribbled honey on the goat cheese prepared for dinner.

However, Noah didn't react to his daughter's calling as he continued to stare into the void with a lot of thoughts running through his mind.
“Daddy!” Aurora slammed the table this time, which seemed to revive Noah from his lost state.
Aurora stared at his father and asked, “What happened to you, Daddy? What were you thinking about?”
Instead of responding, Noah scratched the bridge of his nose while he raised the jar of honey, and soon discovered that he had almost poured the whole thing.
He breathed out heavily and then put on a warm smile before pushing the plate toward Aurora, “Eat up now, baby. It's getting late for bed”
Even though Aurora had been craving the meal for some time now, but seeing that her father was unhappy, her cravings disappeared, and she didn't even spare the meal another glance as she kept searching her father's face.
“Why are you sad, Daddy?” she asked calmly, looking a bit anxious.
Noah stared at his daughter's face and almost scoffed, but then he forced a smile onto his face, “What do you mean sad, Aurora? I'm alright, just tired, you know”
Aurora gazed at his face, knowing too well that her father was just forcing the smile on his face. Inadvertently, her mind drifted to how they had met Jasmine in the grocery store.
Could it be that her father was mad because he saw Jasmine and a man together?
Thinking about that, she soon recalled how the man had introduced himself as Jasmine's boyfriend.
She bites the corner of her inner cheek and concluded in her mind that, she would have to ask Jasmine herself at their next meeting.
Noah lay on his back on his king-sized bed and gazed at the ceiling. All he could see was the image of Xavier holding Jasmine's hands.
He shut his eyes, yet in his darkness, the image of how Xavier had wrapped his hand around Jasmine's shoulder and then asked Aurora to ask him to stay from Jasmine.
Groaning loudly and gathering himself to a sitting position. He buried his face in his palms, thinking of a way to get rid of these images. His heart has been affected, but he didn't even realize it.
Suddenly, he hauled out of his bed and went to grab his laptop from the tea table in the middle of the two couches at the end of the room.
He got back to the bed, opened his laptop, and resumed where he had stopped working. However, he had barely started working when he saw Jasmine again on the monitor, but this time, she was smiling dazzlingly, revealing her perfect white dentition.
“Why won't you allow me to concentrate on my work now? Huh!” he nearly screamed in a fit of frustration.
“You've gone back to your ex-boyfriend, so why are you bothering me now? I don't want to see you, just disappear already”
Without pausing to catch his breath, he continued, “I was wondering why you stopped calling me, but I now realized that you and your ex-boyfriend are back together”
The door flung open unexpectedly, revealing Aurora in her night dress.
“Who were you speaking with, Daddy?” she asked curiously, her eyes scanning the whole room, but couldn't find a single soul in the room except her father.
Clenching his fist tightly, “It's no one, dear. No, I mean, I was speaking with a client over the phone” he lied, putting on his best charming smile that lit up the room.
Aurora twitched her lips sideways and scratched her cheek softly, “Okay, Daddy. Goodnight,”
“Sweet dreams, sweetheart,” Noah said, but Aurora had shut the door.
He sighed in relief, “Narrow escape,” he muttered to himself.
His gaze fell back on his monitor and seeing that Jasmine was no longer there, he scowled, “So, you've really gone back to him, right?”
'What's your problem, man?' that was his subconscious mind.
