XXVIX: Gone

They managed to get the help of the security immediately and they stepped in to stop the ruckus. Anna was attentive and she gave him something to block the blood out from dripping. He was still happily staring at her with his smile almost assuring her that what happened was just nothing and she should not fret about it that much.
She gave out a tight look at him before she responded. Russ was on the other side talking to one of the security team. Anna looked at Russ and their eyes meet for a splint second before he looked away from her and continued talking.
“I think I am feeling sleepy.” He uttered.
Anna stared at him and see him with droopy lids. She shook her head at him. “You can’t. We still got to have you check.” She answered.
He shook his head at her. “I am really sleepy, Julianna. I cannot wait for it anymore and I will not be needing it anymore.” He uttered.
Her eyes drew a confusing stare at him. Something in her tugged. She felt wrong, and alarmed at the same time.
“What are you talking about?” She asked. Her tone changed. It was full of question and at the same time she raised it.
He patted her in the head. “Let me rest, okay?” He talked.
“Then shall we head back inside?” Anna asked him.
He shook his head. “We can stay here.” His eyes looked away and he stared at the skies. “The sun is almost waiting for its hiding.” He uttered.
“I want to watch it set, Anna. I want to watch it with you.” Michael stared at her with a smile on his face.
She smiled back at him and scooted closer. “Then you will really have that rest, okay?” She reminded him.
He nodded his head. They watched the sun and the slowness of its motion. This time the sky looked different. Hues of bright orange and yellow were there before thick clouds started to move near towards the horizon from where the sun is setting.
He leaned. Michael leaned towards her. Anna let him do it. She let him rest on her shoulders. It was always him who lets her lean on him when she was tired. She was happy to at least give this time a chance for her to give it back to Michael after all of those years he gave her his shoulders for her to lean on when she needs it the most.
“Anna.” He uttered while his voice sounded sleepy. “I love you.” He whispered before he closed his eyes…
**
“He did not make it, Anna.” Jeff uttered. He looked at her. They all gave her the look but still she hasn’t responded.
She was staring as if she heard nothing. There was no emotion. Her eyes gave out no emotion.
“Anna?” Eli held her hand. “Anna please say something.”
Then it slowly sunk in for her. She saw how he was convulsing. How the seizures were intense. And it all happened too suddenly. She saw how they were trying to revived him. And it all happened too suddenly.
Anna shook her head. “No..” Her voice was low. She then shook her head. She was still in disbelief but the scenes all played out in her head, it came flooding her in. She was still able to recall them all.
“No.” She affirmed. Before her eyes stared at all of them. “This is not happening.” She uttered.
“Anna.” It was Russ who called her. He closed the distance and went to her side. “He’s gone, Anna.”
She stared at him. Her eyes gone mad; she was glaring. “No.” She responded. “He is not.”
He tried to reach for her but she swatted his arms, pushing it away from her. “This is not happening!” Her voice raised. And panic started to appear in her face. “This is not happening…” She trailed.
Tears started to flow into the sides of her eyes. She felt herself weakened. She was slowly losing her strength, and it she is faltering. She was about to collapsed on her knees but then Russ was fast enough to caught her in his arms. He pulled her close while they were sitting on the floor.
“No.” She croaked. The tears were still falling. She was starting to feel heavy. “No.”
Elizabeth covered her mouth and as she was already crying. Jeff looked away while he was leaning on the wall. But his eyes did not look good either. Russ stared at her. Anna stared back.
“He’s gone?” She asked.
He nodded his head. His face looked worn out too. He hesitantly touched her cheek and wiped the tears off of it. “He is.” He softly answered at her with a gentle look.
“He did not even get to tell his goodbye.” She replied. Her breath hitch as she started to sobbed. Russ was there, holding her before he pulled her into her arms.
It was a bit too sudden. They left the resort and Russ got the call from his mother a day after it. He then remembered what Michael told him during the time they were still at the place.
**
“Take care of her.” Michael uttered.
Russ shook his head and smirk. “I always do that. But she needs you.” He uttered. Keeping himself from asking about that lingering question he was still keeping to himself.
He saw how Michael smile faded. His eyes looked serious. “I will not always be around.” He uttered.
Russ stared at her and he laughed. “You cannot even last a single day without checking up on her. You cannot resist it.” He had thought about the times how Michael is always been looking after Anna.
He shook his head. “We aren’t sure that I will always be around. There’s always a change around the corner.”
“You love her, right?” Russ asked.
Michael’s eyes widened before his gaze changed.
“I heard what you told her.” Russ spoke. He took his eyes off of him. “And isn’t enough to make you stay by her side?” He asked him…
