Chapter 20: The Final Showdown Against Monroe
Chapter 20: The Final Showdown Against Monroe
The sky above Monroe’s lair was an ominous shade of red, swirling with dark clouds that crackled with magical energy. The eerie castle, nestled deep within the cursed forest, was surrounded by shadowy figures—Monroe’s army of evil escort witches and bad tourists, all waiting for the final battle.
Evanora and Everett stood at the edge of the forest, along with their allies. The witches from Moonlight Meadows, Alaric the lost prince, and the rescued escort witches who had been freed from Monroe’s clutches were all ready for the fight of their lives.
“This is it,” Evanora said, gripping her broomstick tightly in her hands. For the first time, it didn’t tremble or bounce in her grip. It was steady, just like her.
Everett stood beside her, his wand at the ready.
“You’ve got this, Evanora. I know you do.”
Evanora smiled, her heart swelling with confidence.
“Thanks, Everett. I couldn’t have made it this far without you.”
“Same here,” he replied, giving her a quick grin.
“Let’s finish this.”
Alaric, standing tall in his royal armor, approached them.
“Monroe is deep inside the lair. He’ll be guarded by his most powerful witches, and his magic is strong. We’ll need to work together if we’re going to defeat him.”
The witches of Moonlight Meadows gathered around, their leader, Selene, stepping forward.
“We’ll handle the escort witches and the bad tourists. You two focus on Monroe.”
Evanora nodded, feeling the weight of the task ahead.
“We’ll take him down. He’s not going to get away with this.”
Everett placed a hand on her shoulder.
“Let’s do this.”
With a deep breath, Evanora mounted her broomstick, and for the first time, she felt completely in control. She kicked off the ground, and the broom soared upward, steady and true. Everett followed close behind her, gripping tightly to her waist as they flew toward the lair.
“I told you I’d get the hang of this thing eventually!” Evanora called back to Everett, her voice full of triumph.
“You look like a pro up here!” Everett shouted, trying not to let the looming danger ruin the moment.
“I’m proud of you!”
As they approached the lair, dark figures rose from the ground below. Monroe’s witches were ready for battle, launching spells of dark fire and shadowy tendrils toward them.
“Here we go!” Evanora shouted, weaving through the air as she dodged the incoming attacks.
Everett pointed his wand at one of the witches and fired off a burst of light, sending the dark figure spinning through the air.
“We need to get inside the lair!”
Evanora nodded and urged the broomstick forward, dodging spells and fireballs as they made their way toward the massive castle doors. The witches of Moonlight Meadows and Alaric’s forces clashed with Monroe’s army on the ground, casting bright flashes of magic across the battlefield.
When they reached the lair’s entrance, the doors flew open, and there stood Monroe —tall, imposing, and surrounded by an aura of dark magic. His eyes glinted with malice as he watched them approach.
“You’ve come far, but this is where your journey ends,” Monroe sneered, his voice echoing ominously through the air.
“You cannot stop me. Soon, I will have the power of every witch in Astoria.”
Evanora dismounted her broomstick and stood tall, her wand in hand.
“You’re wrong, Monroe. We’re here to put an end to your twisted plans.”
Monroe laughed, a cold, menacing sound. “You? You can barely control your own magic. What makes you think you can defeat me?”
Everett stepped forward, his wand glowing with energy.
“She’s stronger than you think. And she’s not alone.”
With a flick of his hand, Monroe summoned a wave of dark magic that rushed toward them like a tidal wave. Evanora raised her wand and quickly cast a protective shield around herself and Everett. The wave of magic crashed against it, but the barrier held strong.
“We’ve got to take him down!” Everett shouted, his voice full of urgency.
Evanora nodded and pointed her wand toward Monroe, sending a bolt of shimmering light straight at him. Monroe deflected the attack with ease, smirking as he sent a barrage of dark spells in their direction.
The battle inside the lair raged on. Spells flew through the air, lighting up the dark castle with bursts of magic. Evanora and Everett dodged and countered Monroe’s attacks, working together seamlessly. Every time Monroe threw a curse at them, Everett was there to deflect it, and every time Monroe tried to overpower them, Evanora unleashed her own powerful spells.
“I’ve had enough of this,” Monroe growled, his voice filled with frustration. “You’re nothing but a weak little witch.”
Evanora’s eyes blazed with determination. “I may be clumsy, but I’m not weak.”
With a surge of confidence, she cast a powerful spell she had been practicing for weeks—a spell that amplified the magic around her. The air crackled with energy as a vortex of light swirled around her, lifting her off the ground. Her broomstick, sensing the shift in power, rose beside her, steady and strong.
Monroe’s eyes widened in shock as Evanora pointed her wand at him, her voice steady and full of power. “It’s over, Monroe.”
Before Monroe could react, Evanora unleashed the full force of her magic, sending a beam of pure light straight at him. The dark wizard tried to block it, but her spell was too strong. Monroe was thrown backward, crashing into the far wall of the lair.
Everett watched in awe as Evanora’s magic crackled through the air, filling the lair with radiant light. “You did it, Evanora! You beat him!”
But Monroe wasn’t finished yet. With a snarl, he rose to his feet, his eyes blazing with fury. “This isn’t over!” he roared, summoning a massive storm of dark energy that swirled around him like a tornado.
Evanora’s heart raced as she realized the full extent of Monroe’s power. But she wasn’t going to back down now. “We have to stop him!”
Everett stepped beside her, his wand glowing with determination. “Together.”
With a nod, they combined their magic, weaving their spells together in perfect harmony. A brilliant light burst forth from their wands, cutting through the darkness and striking Monroe at the center of the storm.
Monroe let out a scream of rage as the light engulfed him, his dark magic dissolving into nothingness. The storm around him collapsed, and the lair grew eerily silent.
When the dust settled, Monroe lay on the ground, his power broken, his dark forces scattered. Evanora and Everett stood side by side, breathing heavily but victorious.
“You did it,” Everett said softly, looking at Evanora with pride. “You really did it.”
Evanora smiled, her heart swelling with relief. “We did it, Everett. Together.”
As they turned to leave the lair, the witches they had rescued earlier emerged from the shadows, their faces filled with gratitude. “You saved us,” one of the witches said, tears of relief in her eyes.
Evanora blushed, still not quite used to the idea of being a hero. “It was nothing, really.”
But Everett shook his head, grinning at her. “Don’t be modest, Evanora. You were amazing.”
Alaric and the other allies soon arrived, having defeated Monroe’s remaining forces outside the lair. The battlefield was clear, and the dark plot to harvest witch souls was finally foiled.
“We’ve won,” Alaric said, looking at the group with a proud smile. “Astoria is safe, thanks to all of you.”
The witches of Moonlight Meadows cheered, and the air was filled with celebration. But through it all, Evanora and Everett stayed close, their bond stronger than ever after everything they had faced.
As they left Monroe’s lair behind, Evanora glanced at Everett, her heart full. “Thank you for believing in me.”
Everett smiled, his eyes twinkling with affection. “I always knew you had it in you. You’re incredible, Evanora.”
And with that, they soared into the sky on Evanora’s now well-behaved broomstick, ready for whatever magical adventure awaited them next.Download Novelah App
