Chapter 11: Unspoken Feelings

Masha walked into Crescent Hill Academy, her mind buzzing with thoughts about the upcoming school festival. It was only a week away, and there was much to prepare. She had been assigned to help with the art display, and she was eager to contribute. The festival was a big event, and everyone seemed excited about it.
As Masha approached her locker, she spotted Kuze standing nearby, looking thoughtful. He was fiddling with something in his hand, clearly preoccupied. Masha decided to approach him, curious about what was on his mind.
“Hey, Kuze!” Masha called out, trying to catch his attention.
Kuze looked up, a smile spreading across his face. “Oh, hey, Masha. I didn’t see you there. What’s up?”
Masha grinned. “Not much, just thinking about the festival. I’m really excited about it. How about you? How’s everything going?”
Kuze’s smile faltered slightly. “Actually, I’ve been thinking about something related to the festival too. I’ve been trying to figure out how to get involved more. I want to make a good impression, you know?”
Masha raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Really? What are you planning to do?”
Kuze hesitated, then said, “I’m considering volunteering for the setup and helping with the booths. I want to do more than just attend.”
Masha’s eyes lit up with enthusiasm. “That sounds like a great idea! I’m sure you’d be a huge help. The more hands, the better.”
Kuze’s expression brightened. “Thanks, Masha. I was hoping you’d say that. I’m not sure where to start, though.”
Masha thought for a moment. “Well, you could talk to the festival organizers. They’re always looking for volunteers. I’m sure they’d be happy to have you.”
Kuze nodded, clearly encouraged by Masha’s suggestion. “I’ll definitely look into it. Thanks for the tip.”
As they continued chatting, Alya approached, her usual confident stride bringing her over to their conversation.
“Hey, you two,” Alya said with a smirk. “I heard you talking about the festival. Are you both excited?”
Masha turned to Alya with a smile. “Yeah, we were just discussing how to get more involved. Kuze is thinking of volunteering for the setup.”
Alya raised an eyebrow. “That’s great! We could use more enthusiastic volunteers. The festival is going to be amazing this year.”
Kuze looked slightly hesitant. “I hope I can do a good job. I really want to contribute, but I’m a bit nervous about the responsibilities.”
Alya placed a reassuring hand on Kuze’s shoulder. “Don’t worry about it. You’ll do fine. Besides, you’ll have Masha and me there to help guide you.”
Masha nodded in agreement. “Alya’s right. We’ll make sure everything goes smoothly. And if you need any help, just ask.”
Kuze’s nerves seemed to ease at their encouragement. “Thanks, guys. I appreciate the support.”
The school bell rang, signaling the start of classes. Masha and Kuze headed to their respective classrooms, with Alya following shortly behind. The day passed in a blur of classes and activities, but Masha’s thoughts often drifted back to the upcoming festival and her interactions with Kuze.
During lunch, Masha and Kuze met up in the cafeteria. They grabbed their trays and found a table, sitting down to eat. The conversation quickly turned to the festival again, with Masha and Kuze discussing their plans and ideas.
“So, Masha,” Kuze began, looking a bit hesitant. “I was thinking... if you’re not too busy, maybe we could work on something together for the festival. Like, we could come up with a collaborative art project or something.”
Masha’s eyes widened with excitement. “That sounds like a fantastic idea! I’d love to work on something with you. What did you have in mind?”
Kuze smiled, clearly relieved by her enthusiasm. “I’m not entirely sure yet. I was thinking we could brainstorm some ideas and see what we come up with.”
Masha nodded eagerly. “Perfect. Let’s meet up after school and start planning. I’m sure we can come up with something really cool.”
As they continued to discuss their plans, Alya joined them at the table, her presence adding to the lively atmosphere.
“So, what are you two plotting now?” Alya asked with a teasing grin.
Masha and Kuze exchanged glances, both smiling. “We’re thinking of collaborating on an art project for the festival,” Masha explained.
Alya’s eyes sparkled with interest. “That sounds like a great idea. I can’t wait to see what you come up with.”
The lunch period ended, and the students began to head to their next classes. Masha and Kuze went to their respective classrooms, excited about their plans for the festival.
After school, Masha and Kuze met up as planned. They found a quiet spot in the school’s art room, where they could work on their ideas without distraction. Masha laid out some sketchbooks and art supplies, and Kuze began to brainstorm ideas.
“So, what are we thinking for our project?” Masha asked, her tone filled with anticipation.
Kuze thought for a moment. “I was thinking we could create a mural that represents the theme of the festival—something that captures the spirit of the event.”
Masha nodded, her eyes lighting up with excitement. “I love that idea. We could include elements that reflect the different cultures and traditions of our school community.”
Kuze grinned. “Exactly. And we could incorporate some interactive elements, like a section where people can contribute their own drawings or messages.”
Masha’s enthusiasm grew. “That sounds amazing. I can already picture how it will look. Let’s start sketching out some ideas and see how we can bring this vision to life.”
As they began to sketch, their conversation flowed easily, and the atmosphere between them was relaxed and enjoyable. The process of working together brought them closer, and Masha felt a growing sense of connection with Kuze.
Hours passed as they worked on their project, the art room filled with the sounds of their collaboration. They took breaks to chat and laugh, their camaraderie growing stronger with each passing minute.
Eventually, Masha glanced at the clock and realized it was getting late. “We should probably wrap up for today. We’ve made a lot of progress, and we can continue tomorrow.”
Kuze looked up, his expression one of satisfaction. “Yeah, we’ve done a great job. I’m really excited to see how this turns out.”
Masha smiled warmly. “Me too. Thanks for working on this with me. It’s been a lot of fun.”
Kuze returned her smile, his eyes reflecting genuine affection. “I’ve really enjoyed it too. I’m glad we’re doing this together.”
As they packed up their supplies and prepared to leave, Masha couldn’t help but feel a sense of contentment. The day had been productive and enjoyable, and she was looking forward to the next steps of their project.
As they walked out of the school together, Masha and Kuze chatted about their plans and shared their excitement for the festival. The connection between them was undeniable, and they both felt a growing sense of anticipation for what the future might hold.
With their art project underway and their friendship deepening, Masha and Kuze were ready to face the challenges and joys of the upcoming festival together. The bond they had formed through their collaboration was a testament to their growing affection for each other, and they were eager to see where their shared journey would take them.
