### Eliz's Point of View
Today is the proclamation day for the new Campus King and Queen of Cortejo Campus. I have no idea who might be chosen since I’m still new and don’t know the outstanding students here. However, I’m sure there are many potentials since this campus has a reputation for producing top students who compete in various competitions, from sports to academic challenges. My grandpa Sev’s campus has always been a frontrunner.
"Yow, cousin! You seem deep in thought," my cousin said, throwing his arm around my shoulders.
"Guys! Let's go, the program is about to start!" Lyca shouted excitedly, making us jump.
She just appeared beside us out of nowhere. Even though we’ve only known Lyca for a short time, I can tell she’s kind-hearted, albeit a bit childish at times.
"Come on, Eliz," my cousin said, and we started walking towards the venue for the program. All the students were hurrying to get there, as well as the school heads.
"I wonder who will be the King?"
"Maybe it's Shin, my love!"
"No way! It’s probably Kean!"
"What about Nathan!"
"Or Ruhan!"
Ruhan, huh?
Nathan? My cousin?
I noticed that all the names being mentioned were male, so the top rank must be a guy. Are there no outstanding girls here? Maybe it’s my time to shine.
"Cousin, who are the top students here?" I asked suddenly.
"Yeah, Nathan? Who are those guys they’re talking about?" Lyca asked, pointing to the girls who were gossiping earlier.
They were the ones mentioning names, including Ruhan’s.
"Ah, Ruhan, I think he’ll be Rank 1 because he’s smart and great at sports. He was even the MVP in the basketball league last month," Nathan explained.
Wow? Ruhan has hidden talents and skills in sports? Who would have thought?
"Kean Hyun and Shin Choi are half Korean, both members of the boys’ volleyball team. They’re both skilled and excel academically," Nathan continued.
"And the last one? I heard four names," Lyca said, waiting for Nathan to speak.
"Lastly, it’s me," Nathan said proudly.
"You?!/You?!" Lyca and I shouted simultaneously.
"Yes, I’m great at basketball! And my grades are high... You guys are just new, so you don’t know," he said, but we still weren’t convinced.
Wow, huh? My cousin, the genius? Just kidding!
"To all students, please proceed to our Campus Hall."
We quickened our pace, glad that there were still only a few students, but we chose to sit in the middle.
Moments later...
"Ahhh!!!"
"My love, Shin!! Marry me!!!"
"Kean, you’re so cute!!"
"Oh my gosh, Ruhan!! You’re mine!!"
"Look! Eliz is with Nathan!"
The girls screamed as the three guys entered, including us with Nathan. The only one I recognized was Ruhan. I knew their names but not their faces.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Nathan’s name was included because he’s handsome.
Yes, I admit it. The Cortejo family is handsome.
"OMG, they’re so handsome!" Lyca shouted beside me.
"Be quiet, Lyca. Those guys look like monkeys," I said, making her look at me.
"Hahaha, let Eliz be. She’s just not attracted to that type of guy," Nathan said, laughing.
Why? What kind of people are they? Or should I say... Are they even human? They might be minions of the dark side.
"They’re handsome, Eliz, especially Ruhan—"
Cough! Cough!
"Are you okay, Eliz? Here, have some water." Nathan said worriedly, handing me water.
I immediately drank it. What the?! Who’s handsome? Ruhan? Out of everyone, Lyca noticed Ruhan?!
"Everyone, please quiet down. The program will start in a few minutes."
We didn’t talk anymore. Nathan was busy with his phone, and Lyca was busy looking around.
I saw the three guys sitting in the front row near the stage.
A few minutes later, Grandpa Sevastian went up on stage.
"Good morning, students! I want to thank you for starting a new year here at our Campus. This is your last day to see the students who graduated this year," Grandpa Sev said.
"Aww, I won’t see Yohan anymore!"
"Warren, too!"
"Bye, Prime 4!"
"I know many of you are sad because our Campus King, Yohan Pedraza, is leaving," Grandpa Sev said, and Yohan went up on stage with three other guys.
"This is the Prime 4, Yohan Pedraza, Warren Yu, Jed Serriano, and Paul Fuentes," Grandpa introduced them.
"Ahhh!!"
"Bye, my loves!"
"Huhuhu!!"
I watched the Prime 4. In fairness, they are all handsome.
"And now...for our next Campus King, I know you’ve all been waiting to find out who it is," Grandpa said, and the noise in the Hall subsided.
The Prime 4 went down except for Yohan, who would probably pass his position to the one Grandpa would call.
A teacher handed a box to Grandpa. I think it's a ring box?
"For our Campus King...who do you think it is? Yes, it’s a male, so who could it be?"
"Nathan!"
"Ruhan!"
"Kean!"
"Shin!"
Only those four names could be heard, nothing else. The noise here compared to earlier is deafening.
At least now, there will also be a Queen, which will make it even more exciting.
I also feel sad about what happened to the Queen. I can’t believe she died, but what did she die of? I forgot to ask Grandpa.
"Our Campus King is...Ruhan Night Pedraza!" Grandpa announced, and everyone cheered—wait, who?
"OMG!!!"
"I knew it was Ruhan!!"
"Ruhan, my love!!"
What? Did I hear that right, or do I need to get my ears checked?
Ruhan? As in RUHAN PEDRAZA?
Ruhan walked up to the stage, so I couldn’t complain anymore. Why him?
When Ruhan reached the center of the stage, the students continued to cheer. Yohan approached him and opened the box, revealing a gold ring based on its color.
Yohan handed the ring to Ruhan, and he wore it, making the crowd even louder.
Yohan went down the stage and sat down. It’s sad to think that even though I just met Yohan yesterday, I already feel like I’ll miss him.
If Ruhan is the King, who will be the Queen?
Hmm... I have a feeling it’s going to be Bella.
"And now, Mr. Pedraza...Do you already pick someone to be your Queen?" Grandpa asked.
"Yes," Ruhan said, and many girls screamed and cheered.
Why are the girls so flirty these days?
I’m still shocked by Ruhan’s so-called kingship, so I hope the next Queen can handle her King’s attitude.
"Who could it be?"
"Who’s the lucky girl?"
"I think it’s Bella. They’ve had something going on for a while."
Many whispers filled the hall, all pointing to Arabella Gomez, the flirtatious girl.
"Who is your Queen, Mr. Pedraza?" Grandpa asked again, and Ruhan looked around as if searching for the next Queen.
It wouldn’t be so bad if Bella were his Queen. She’s smart and pretty, though I’m unsure about her attitude. They both have bad attitudes, anyway.
"Eliz, Eliz Cortejo," Ruhan said, looking at...me?!
"Ohh Eliz, she’s familiar to me."
"I know her, and she’s so beautiful!"
"She’s the granddaughter of Principal Sevastian! Did you forget?"
Is my name Eliz? Eliz, right? Please check my birth certificate, plsss...
"Eliz, you’re the Queen!" Lyca teased, nudging me.
"You, cousin, you’ve been hiding things from me. Turns out you’re close with Ruhan," Nathan teased.
Seriously?! It’s really me?! The students are all looking at me!
"Where are you, Eliz? Come here," Grandpa called, and everyone looked at me.
As embarrassing as it was, I stood up and walked to the stage. With every step, my anxiety grew. Ruhan Pedraza, you’re dead meat.
"She’s a goddess.."
"I think I like her"
"She’s so gorgeous!"
Good thing I wore pants today to look formal, along with a black off-shoulder blouse.
When I reached the stage, Grandpa helped me get closer to Ruhan.
He was grinning while I was giving him a death stare. He stepped closer, just a meter away, and took my hand. I tried to pull it back, but it was too late; he had already slipped the ring on. That ring matched his.
Wait a minute! What is this—engagement vibes?!
"Let’s all welcome King Ruhan and Queen Eliz!"
Reminder: I will kill Ruhan after this...
