Chapter 10
Rama was relieved when he finally got home to their rest house in Turin after his cousin's debut party. He can't forget the face of the woman he met earlier at the party. There is a part of his brain that says he loves this, and he feels it too. But how could he love him when he doesn't even know him? Was he a part of my life when I had amnesia
"Is there something bothering you, son?" said his father, whom he didn't realize was already behind him.
"When did you arrive, Dad?" He immediately asked his father as soon as he got close. He thought that he would still be following him there tomorrow and that he had a few more things to take care of in Palermo.
"It was already seven o'clock," he replied to him and immediately sat beside her facing the ocean, there on the terrace of their rest house on the second floor.
"Why didn't you go to their house?"
“Aunt Ceria? You all know that it's my favorite niece's debut today."
"I'm tired, son. Surely your cousin will understand me. I sent my gift to her already," he said, looking far away. He took a deep breath. "Is it true that until now, son, your whole memory has not returned?" He gulped down the contents of his glass. When it was all gone, he faced his father.
"Until now, there is still nothing. But earlier, I met a woman at the party and she seemed familiar to me. I feel something about her and I think she knows me too."
"Then, what happened?"
"They left right away after we introduced ourselves to each other."
"Son, don't lose hope," he said, gently patting him on the shoulder. "All your memories will come back."
"I hope so, Dad."
"That's right!"
The next morning Rama woke up early.
He wanted to catch the very first barge trip to Sperlonga. He wants to find people who shelter him. He is sure that when he goes there, someone will recognize him and tell him where he used to live so that he can meet and thank the people who helped and sheltered him during his amnesia.
After he arrived in Sperlonga, he immediately started going to the place where his memory returned. There are some fishermen there who have already grown thin. He wanted to talk to them but they were far away.
He first walked along the beach until he came to a house that was familiar to him. He saw in the yard then a woman he estimated to be around fifty-five, who was watering the flowers. He approached it.
"Excuse me," he said.
The woman turned around. And in his amazement when she saw him, she embraced him.
"Oh my god! It's good Dante and you're okay. I've been looking for you for a long time," she said.
"Do you know me?" he's ask.
"Sure." She covered his own mouth and her eyes widened as she stared at him. "Your memory has returned?" she asked him.
"Not all," he answered sadly.
"Good to hear that! That's a good start. Come enter the house and talk to me," she said as he pulled her into the house and followed he is.
She made him sit on the sofa and she sat on his couch. She introduced herself to him as his Aunt Zia. The one who helped and sheltered him. There he began to narrate how his memory returned. After he told the story, he was the one who asked it.
"Where did you find me?"
"My staff and I found you at the resort on the beach one morning. You were bloody and had a wound on your back. You had a lot of bruises. You were unconscious for a few days but I took care of you. When you regained consciousness I asked you your name because there was nothing we were able to identify you but you said you don't remember anything."
"Did I have a girlfriend here or have a relationship?" he asked directly.
"Y-y-you have. My niece Giovanna, he is trans." she reluctantly answered her question.
"Why do you seem to be hesitating? Is there a problem?"
"Because he is about to get married. He looked for you when his fiancé came to explain to you.
B-but you suddenly disappeared. Don't you really remember him?"
He shook his head. "When you picked me up. Did you see a bracelet I was wearing?"
"Yes. There is. There is."
"Where is that now"
"You gave it to my niece Giovanna," she replied.
His suspicions were correct. He has a connection with the girl he saw at his cousin's birthday party and the bracelet she is wearing is hers. But why didn't he introduce himself to her? Is it because of this wedding?
"Thank you Auntie. I really owe you a lot," was all he could say.
"Nothing, son. What is your real name?"
"It's Rama. Rama Moradas," he said.
"How rich you are. You are the owner of Moradas Farms and Moradas Meat Processing then?"
He just smiled.
"So what are you up to today?"
"When is Giovanna's wedding?" Instead that's what he said.
"At two o'clock." she approached him and looked at him seriously. "I know you don't remember him yet. Open your heart, I know he's there deep inside. Even if you can't remember him in your mind, I know, your heart will remember him. Fight if you really feel something to him. I know that in the short time you and my nephew have known each other, you will own his heart."
When he told her, it was as if a door opened in his memory. That's blindingly bright. Suddenly his head hurt like it was going to burst.
"Are you okay Dante? Is it Rama?" she asked him in confusion when she saw him writhing in his headache.
He felt so much pain in his head that he gave in and passed out.
GIOVANNA WOKE UP EARLY when they got home to Asti. Now he has to deal with his upcoming wedding with Enzo. It seems like the man is more excited about their upcoming wedding next month because he is the one who is taking care of all the necessary and details for their wedding. He is still lucky somehow that Enzo is kind and understanding to her. So he feels guilty to himself for being unfair.
After he got dressed, he immediately went down to the commode. He found his Mama preparing their breakfast. It has changed a lot. It has become responsible and cheerful.
"Mmmm... Looks like you're preparing something Ma, ah!" he said.
"Your Papa will have breakfast here, so I cooked all his favorites," he replied happily.
"It seems I don't know something. Can you talk to me, Ma?" he caresses his mother.
He laughed at what he did. "What am I going to tell you child?"
"About you and Papa. Have you gotten back together, huh?" he grumbled.
"Mmm... Not yet. But we're friends again," he said as if thrilled. "Oh, sit down and eat first and Enzo will be here soon. Where are you going now?"
When he remembered his upcoming wedding, he seemed to weaken. He sat down and put food on his plate. His feelings for Dante are hopeless. Soon, he will be tied to the man he first promised and loved but he is not sure if he still has room in her heart or if he is still there.
Enzo was kind and that was one of the reasons why he fell in love with her so easily. But now the content and owner of his heart is different.
He couldn't figure out why he fell in love with Dante so easily. He didn't realize that in that short time he fell in love with her.
He woke up in the middle of that thought when he heard Enzo's car honking. He is already picking him up and they will go that day to the florist who will decorate the entire church on their wedding day.
He felt sorry for Enzo. He feels guilty about himself.
He's so unfair to him. Enzo is faithful to him and treats him like a princess. He loved Enzo, back then.
But when they ran into each other, and he hid in the island of Sperlonga after that incident and met Dante, it immediately replaced the place in his heart that Enzo was the first to take over and own.
He immediately stood up when he saw him enter the dining room. He forced a smile to greet him and kissed him on the cheek.
"Come and have breakfast with me," he said.
"That's right, I haven't had breakfast yet," he said happily.
He pulled him a chair and served his food. When they ate together, he happily told his about the details of their wedding. He was very excited but he couldn't even feel a little bit of joy and fun from what he was telling. Everything he wanted when they were just planning it was actually done and followed. He just stared at Enzo while eating, still happily talking.
He felt compassion for him. I really feel guilty. But still, he wants to keep his promise to marry him. Maybe when they get married and live together, his love and prejudice towards Enzo will return and he will forget Dante as well as his love for him.
"Is there a problem, Ma?" Enzo asked him.
Maybe he noticed his silence.
"Huh? Ah, eh... nothing! I was just thinking about something," he lied.
"C'mon. Tell me," he insisted to him.
"It's nothing. Just eat there and I'll get something upstairs," he said goodbye. But the truth is that he wants to avoid his scrutinizing eyes. He knew he knew if he was lying.
When he got to his room he lay down on his bed and stared into nothingness. He thinks about how he can return the old love he had for Enzo. He admitted to himself now that he didn't love him anymore. But his brain says that this is the chosen one and not Dante. What his brain was screaming was right. Dante is totally a stranger to him. But how can he stop what his heart is screaming. He was confused. He closed his eyes. He heard someone take a sip. His mom. He fell back on the couch.
"Have you been there for a while?" he asked with a frown.
"Why don't you just face the man, son? That was unfair to him. Enzo is a nice guy," said his Mom who had been standing there at his door just watching him.
"I don't know, Mom. A part of my heart says, I love him. I'm confused, Mom," he said, sitting down on the edge of his bed.
"Love is different from mercy, son."
"I know, Ma. But..."
"As long as my son is the only one, if you don't have love for Enzo anymore, don't force yourself on him and let him depend on you. Better tell him the truth and maybe he will understand. ."
He sighed. He approached the mother and then hugged her.
"I know it's hard, son. But you have to do the right thing. How long are you going to hide the truth from him?"
He thought about what his mother taught him. Not once did he teach him to lie, not even his Papa.
He remembered the one time he lied he made him kneel in salt and since then he promised himself never to lie again.
"You're right. But how? I don't want to hurt him, Mom."
"Everything has a way, son. Let it go, you'll get the courage to confess to Enzo."
"I hope so, Mom. I hope so."
WHEN he and Enzo were in the car, he kept glancing at his face while he was driving. He sympathizes with it. His mom was right. Enzo is a nice guy and he cannot afford to break his heart.
"Are you okay?" Enzo asked him. Maybe he noticed his silence while they were traversing the stretch of Maharlika Highway to Cabadbaran to buy flowers to decorate their wedding.
"Huh? Yes. I'm fine. I'm just a little sleepy. Because I slept long last night," he lied.
"Is there a problem?" he told him directly.
"Nothing. I'm just really tired!" The tone of his voice seemed to rise, which shocked Enzo.
Enzo suddenly stopped the car he was driving and parked it on the side of the road. It took a deep breath. Staring in the distance, he turned to face him.
He looked him intently in the eyes. His right hand caressed his face. Removed a few strands of hair played by the wind that covered his face. He could clearly see that his eyes were full of love for him.
He felt even more compassion when he saw it in his eyes. How could he break his heart. He knows that he's the only one that the young man loved. Even he didn't want to let it go but he felt guilty. It's so unfair to Enzo if he continues the relationship with him especially if he no longer feels love and prejudice towards him.
The only thing he felt in front of him was pity.
As his Mama said earlier, mercy is different from love. But he didn't have the courage to tell Enzo. But there is a part of his mind that says he should just forget about Dante and go ahead with the marriage to Enzo. Maybe in their marriage he will learn to love him again.
It's not hard to love Enzo. Apart from being handsome and kind, he also comes from a respected family.
"Do you still want to marry me?" it suddenly said while he stared intently at him.
He didn't have a catchy voice in his throat. Is this the time?
"Of course I do!" he suddenly answered that even he was surprised by his own answer. He just clenched his fists.
"Are you still happy with me?"
"I am," he lied again. What the hell, Giovanna? How long will you lie?
"Do you still love me?" Time seemed to stop between the two of them when he heard that question from Enzo.
He just nodded. He doesn't want to talk.
He might even make a mistake in answering this question.
He really wants to answer it, but something seems to tighten in his throat and the words he wants to say don't come out.
He saw that his face became clear again and smiles appeared on his lips. Suddenly he pressed a kiss on the lips. If before he was happy every time he kissed her, now it's like he just doesn't have it. He no longer felt the warmth he felt for her before.
It revved the car's engine and they continued to their destination. It still whistles while driving. At least he was happy after seeing the expression on her face. He had to stand by whatever he had promised the young man before. His decision was now complete. He is going to marry Enzo. Come what may. In his mind.
The day that Giovanna was dreading has arrived, the day of her and Enzo's wedding. But his decision to pursue it is complete. Maybe he will fall in love with the young man as he loved him before. There is nothing else he can do but accept the fact that he and Danteare not really meant for each other. They are not meant for each other. Danteis just part of her past and he needs to forget him.
"Son, are you ready for that?" asked his mother knocking on the door of his room.
He stood up and went to the door to open it. But even before he opened the door, he calmed himself down. He didn't want his mother to see him like that. "Come on and it's almost time for your wedding!" here
when he opened the door.
He only responded with a forced smile to what he said.
"Are you really determined to go ahead with this?"
He nodded.
He pulled her into his room and they sat down in his bed.
"Giovanna, you don't need to do this," she said to her seriously as she held both of his palms. "Don't torture yourself."
"Mom, maybe I can learn to love Enzo again. It's not hard to love him. He is an ideal man for every girl," he said.
"But Giova-"
"Mom, just let me go. Please?" cut off.
She wanted to say more. It sighed and hugged her.
He understood what his Mama wanted to convey to him. But he has to stand by whatever he promised Enzo. And besides, he has no reason to fight for his feelings for Dante because he himself does not know him.
Everyone at Giovanna's house has been busy.
Even he is like that. He woke up early because he had to get ready early for his wedding. The day he was looking forward to but now dreading has come.
Afraid because he might suddenly run later to the church or he might not be able to answer the question asked the priest.
But here he is, getting ready and getting ready to end his singleness and become Enzo's wife.
"Wow, you're really pretty, aren't you? Look at yourself. No wonder our old high school classmates were falling for you," said Philip, his high school classmate.
"Of course. We are equally beautiful," he said with a smile.
He heard a knock outside his bedroom door. It opened and spit out his Mama. She looks beautiful in this peach gown.
"Are you ready?" she asked him smiling. But the sadness cannot be hidden from its eyes.
He knew she was sad for him.
He only responded with a nod. He stood up and hugged his mother. He couldn't stop the tears. Because he knows what is really inside him.
"It's enough to cry. Your make-up will be erased. Let's retouch again," Jeremy scolded them. Because he has no knowledge of what he went through.
His mother loosened from her embrace. "Yes, son. Go ahead, get ready and the car will be downstairs to take you to the church."
"Alright. Alright, let's just retouch and let's go to church," he said to Jeremy.
And when he sat in the chair in front of the dresser, Jeremy immediately retouched his make-up.
ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE CHURCH looked when Giovanna stood in the aisle of the church. He is beautiful in his white wedding gown made by a famous designer, Nat Copper. He was holding a bouquet of white roses. He saw Enzo at the end of the aisle, next to his brother Tim as his best man. He had a big smile and he could clearly see in his eyes the great love and affection for him. He did not realize that his Mama and Papa had taken him aside so that they could take him to the altar, in Enzo's hands. He saw his Mom in tears. And his father only gave him a smile. He knows she loves him. And whatever decisions he makes in life he will support him.
When the wedding march sounded, he started walking with his parents.
He was nervous as he approached Enzo. He knows you don't have a pillow anymore. She will be bound for life as Mrs. Enzo Madronal. His hand was cold when his Papa extended his hand to Enzo after he directed them. Fortunately, he was wearing gloves so he didn't notice the coldness of his hands.
The wedding ceremony has begun. Somehow his nervousness and fear were relieved by the beautiful songs of the PSALM Choir that they hired to sing on that special day in her and Enzo's life.
After the priest's homily, the matrimonial rites followed.
"Whoever is against this marriage should speak now," said the priest.
Only silence answered this question.
"I repeat, whoever is against this marriage should speak up now or stay silent forever," he repeated. But still, no one spoke.
"Then-"
"Just a moment, father. I'm against it!" that male voice at the church door.
Her voice was familiar to him. He looked at him.
He saw Dante standing there. It was panting. It lost a little weight. But it's still handsome.
"Just a moment, Father. I am against this marriage. Because I love that girl so much," he said as he approached them.
"What are you doing, Dante?" His eyebrows meet this question.
"I'm here to win you back. I want you to become my children's mother. I want to be with you until I grow old. I want to see you every morning when I wake up because I love you so much, Giovanna."
It was sweet that he faced it. "Dear? You love me? You don't even know me, do you? You only loved me when you had amnesia. And now, your memory is back, so don't tell me you still love me."
"Yes! I still love you. Yes, I got amnesia when we became friends but my heart still reminds me of you. Since my memory came back I always dream of you. I talked to your Aunt Zia and she told me everything about us. And he told me that today is your wedding. My memory got a little clearer and I gradually remembered you when we met in Turin and you were wearing the bracelet I gave you before."
"Huh! Enough, Dante! Enough! You're messing up my wedding!"
"I'll only leave here when you say you don't love me Giovanna," Dante insisted.
He turned to Enzo who was just quietly watching them. The same goes for the people who attended their wedding. Others murmured. Others just watched as if they were watching the shooting of a movie.
He didn't know how to answer this. He was confused. Yes, he's still in love with Dante but he's already committed to Enzo. And he didn't want to embarrass him.
He saw the tears in Enzo's eyes. He came to him and held him by the shoulder.
"Follow what is truly within you. I'll give you the freedom to choose," he said with tears in his eyes.
"But-" he grumbled.
"Don't worry about me. You know that all I want is for you to be happy. If you love him, then go with him. I'm letting you go," he said.
He knew it was hard for Enzo. It was very kind of him to let him go just like that.
He will endure the pain just to see him happy.
He couldn't believe Enzo would say that.
He was especially impressed by it. He started crying too.
"Thank you Enzo. Thank you!" And he hugged him tightly.
Enzo approached Dante or Rama and punched him in the jaw.
"What's that for?" Dante said, rubbing his jaw.
"For messing up my marriage. And this," he punched her on the other cheek again. "Advance in case you fool Giovanna."
"I will never cheat on the girl I love the most. I promise, I will love and take care of Giovanna like you love and take care of her."
Enzo just smiled at what he said.
"Hey! You crazy!"
"Me?"
"Yes. Who else is crazy here who messed up the wedding, right? Yes, I love you! So now fix our wedding because I might change my mind."
In the extreme happiness that Dante felt, he approached him and picked him up. After he got off him, he approached Enzo.
"Thank you bro. You can also find something for yourself. I'm really sorry. I just really love the one you want to marry," he said, shaking hands.
After that he ran and pulled him out of the church. He almost tripped so he just took off her high-heeled shoes and continued running out of the church with Dante.
He knows now, being with Dante is the right decision he has made in her entire life. Whatever the consequences of this he will accept and deal with. He knows that he will not face those things alone because he knows that neither Dante nor Rama will abandon him.Download Novelah App
