Chapter 4
Giovanna Woke up to the conductor's soft tap on his shoulder. He looked up at it and smiled. He looked at his wrist watch. It's five o'clock in the morning.
"Where will you get off, Miss?" the conductor asked him. It also has quite a look. He estimated that it was around twenty-five.
"Im sorry, Maybe you were trying to wake me up earlier," he said. "Where are we now?"
"in Portofino."
He thought they had a farm in Turin so he thought he would stay there first and cool off.
"I'll just go to Turin," he said.
After he said that, he immediately punched the ticket and handed it to him. After giving it to him, he grabbed money from his pocket to pay for his fare. He took five hundred pesos.
He smiled at him. "Just keep the change."
"Are you sure? You have more than two hundred change," he assured him.
He just nodded and fell asleep again.
After a few moments, he woke up again
"Miss, we're in Turin."
"Ah... eh... Thank you. Oh, if you hadn't woken me up, I might have passed. Thank you very much," he said and got off immediately after the bus stopped at the terminal carrying his bag. He walked to the motorcycle parking lot and drove to Brgy. Cuneo where their farm is. It's also a long way away, so he offered a large payment to the driver so that he wouldn't hate him.
He saw Aunt Tera, the caretaker of their farm sweeping the yard and his wife Uncle Aldo sitting on a bench in the shade of a mango tree.
"Miss Giovanna, did you rush?" Aunt Tera asked him.
"Just going on vacation," he answered with a smile.
"Oi. Tikyo help Miss Giovanna. Take his bag to his room," Aunt Tera shouted to her husband.
"You should have told me, you know my number.
Have you eaten?" Aunt Tera asked him.
"Oh, not yet. I'm sorry that I came here suddenly," he said with a smile. He was nervous because they might already know something about what he was involved in. But he thinks that they don't know anything and are still happy to see him.
"That's okay. What are you doing? Just rest in your room and I'll call you when the table is ready," he said excitedly.
He just nodded and went to his room.
The two weeks of Giovanna's stay at their farm house went by FAST. He doesn't leave the house. He was just there reading books. Fortunately there was no radio or TV there so he was sure the two adults didn't know anything about what he was involved in.
He never tried to open his cellphone because he knew there were already many messages for him. His parents and friends might also call him.
He didn't want to face their questions to him first. He wasn't ready to face them yet. He didn't know what to say. He also does not know how to defend and defend himself.
He was about to go out to take a shower when he heard the conversation of their caretaker couple.
"Tera, I heard at Amica Ceria's store that Miss Giovanna was involved in a murder case in Asti," Uncle Aldo said weakly to his wife.
But he still heard it.
"Huh? Is that true? Where did he hear that rumor? You know that girl is a gossip," said Aunt Tera to his wife.
"I don't know. He said he heard it on the radio."
"What did you say? Did you say Miss Giovanna was here?" the old woman asked one after the other.
"Of course not! Shall I betray our master?
He was encouraged by what the old man said. At least he is loyal to his family.
"It's good that way. Even if he did that or not, we have to protect the family that swallows us. The family that educated and gave jobs to our children," he heard Aunt Tera say.
But it looks like he really can't stay there any longer. Maybe the authorities can trace that place and catch him. Of course, she's not guilty. He just wasn't ready to face that wheel anymore.
He came out of his hiding place which surprised the couple.
"Yes, Uncle Aldo heard it right. But I swear, I didn't do that," he said, raising his right hand as a curse. "I just saw the woman blindfolded in the CR covered in blood. Then a woman came and took a picture of me while I was helping the female victim. God knows I didn't do that."
He couldn't stop himself from crying.
He let those tears roll down both of his cheeks.
He saw the expression on Aunt Tera's face soften. He came closer to her and hugged her while he caressed her back.
"We believe you are innocent, Miss Giovanna.
That you didn't do that. Don't worry and we'll keep everything a secret," the old woman consoled him.
"But I have to leave here and go far away. I'm not ready to defend myself Aunt Tera. I don't know what to do. I don't want to be imprisoned."
"Where are you going?" Uncle Aldo said.
"Just. I don't know. Take me to the city now, Uncle Aldo and maybe the people in charge will find this place," he said to the old man.
"Alright Miss Giovanna. Aunt Tera, prepare Miss Giovanna's things and I'll just prepare the motorcycle outside," said the old man to his wife.
"Thank you for your kindness. I will see this as a great debt of gratitude to you," he said to the two couples.
"Oh, that's no problem Miss Giovanna," the couple said at the same time.
When everything was ready, he rode on Uncle Aldo's motorcycle. He was wearing a hooded jacket and sunglasses. He had to do that so he wouldn't be recognized. He thought that in Sperlonga he would stay with his Aunt Zia who is the sister of his Mama Elena.
IT WAS NOON when Giovanna arrived in Turin.
He directly boarded a bus and got off in the town of Terminal de Autobusen Roma. He walked to the pier. There were quite a lot of people there who were also going to Sperlonga.
He immediately got in line to buy a ticket and board the first barge trip to Sperlonga. After buying a ticket, he immediately boarded the barge.
He looked for a place to sit when he got on the barge. There he took a position near the teheras next to a woman carrying his child. The boy stared at him. He estimated that it was only eight months old. He laughed at her as if he wanted to play with her. He held her arm and he felt happy there. For a moment, he forgot about the problem he ran away from.
He felt the barge move forward.
The events that followed were fast. Giovanna arrived at Binoni pier. After he got off, he immediately hailed a motorcycle that was parked there.
Wholesale is the trend there. He wanted to get away from there immediately and maybe someone would recognize him. Surely at that time his face was already on TV and he was one of the wanted wanted by the law. For sure, the woman who saw him has given him a photo of him and his face is sure to appear in newspapers and TV.
He found his Aunt Zia lying on the hammock reading a book. She was alone in his house by the sea. It also has a small resort there and some cottages for rent.
"Hey, Auntie," he said, which surprised her.
"You poor girl! Did you rush?" she asked him, clearly surprised to see him.
"Come let's go into the house."
"Have you eaten yet?" she asked him again when they entered his house.
She shook his head.
She pulled him to the kitchen of her house.
He was made to sit there and food was served on the table.
His food is fast. It's like he hasn't eaten for days. His Aunt Zia just looked at him. After eating, he immediately drank water.
"Thank you, Aunt," he said.
"Now tell a story and you rushed here. Is there a problem?" he asked him.
He drank water again and did not hesitate to tell his Aunt about the problem he got into. He knew she would listen to him and he wouldn't let her down. He narrated the whole incident here, how he got into that wheel.
As well as the problem of his parents.
He told that story while crying. He couldn't stop letting out all the fear he was feeling to his aunt. As well as his resentment towards his Papa for breaking up with his Mama.
"Come on, Giovanna. I understand you. I believe you are not the killer. And besides, your Papa will also remember and get back with Elena," she said consoling his moaning.
"Thank you Auntie," he said as he continued
His Aunt Zia is the older sister of his Mama Elena. This is an old lady who chose to live in Sperlonga and manage the purchased resort when she retired from her job as a bank manager in Cuneo.
It lives there alone. There are also a few staff at the resort but they stay out. She was happy when he visited her because he was her only niece. His mother is his only sibling.
"Just stay here with me, until your problem is fixed. Do your Mom and Dad know about this?" he asked him worriedly.
He just shook his head.
"Oh! Elena must be worried about you now.
Wait, I'll call your mom first."
"Don't do it, Aunt," he stopped her. "I left a note for him. It's better that he doesn't know where I am right now."
"But Giovanna is only mine, your parents might worry."
"Please Aunt! Don't do it now. I'll let them know in the next few days, don't do it now."
"Oh, okay. I'll respect your decision. You take care of yourself here. You already know where your room is. I'll just go out for a while and I'll take care of the guests at the resort," he informed him and immediately obeyed.
He immediately picked up his bag and headed to his room at his Aunt's house. It was at the end of the hallway. When he arrived he opened the door. The room was quite dark. He entered and placed his bag on the bed. He opened the window and revealed to him the beautiful sight in front of him. From there he could clearly see the blue sea of the island. The white sand and the coconut trees whose leaves dance in sync with the wind blowing from the sea. He closed his eyes and inhaled the fresh air from there.
He missed that place so much. Every year, he and his parents go there, especially on special days.
He turned and looked around the room. It still hasn't changed. The way it was when he left there last year is still the same. The stuffed toys were still there on top of the bed. He opened the closet and saw that his clothes were still there, arranged and hanging on hangers. Turning around, he saw that his things were still neatly arranged on top of the dresser. His favorite hairbrush and hair ties from his childhood were still there and intact. His perfumes and make-up that his Mama had bought for him were still the same as when he left there. His Aunt really made that room for him. He really loves her very much.
Feeling tired, he sat on the edge of the bed. Looked out the window and enjoyed the fresh air from there again. He lay down. Did I do it right? And he fell asleep from that thought.
It was past seven in the evening when Giovanna woke up. He slowly stood up and groped in the dark. Looked for the light switch inside the room.
When he found it, he turned it on. The whole area around his room lit up. He approached the dresser.
Combed and tied his hair. He took his bag and arranged his things in the closet. When he finished fixing them, he remembered his cellphone. He found it and turned it on. It turns out to be low batt. So he charged first then turned it on again.
Many messages entered his cell phone when he turned it on. Something came from Jana, Bianca, his Mom and his staff at the Pastry. He read his Mom's first.
Son, what did you get into? where are you now Are you okay there? It's a message to him.
He called her. After a while, his cellphone rang. "Hello, son? Thank you and call. Where are you now?" He felt in his voice the deep concern for him.
Little by little his tears fell down on his cheeks. "Mom, you know I can't do that," he said in a raspy voice. That's what he told his mother immediately.
"Shhh... that's right, son. I know you can't do that. I believe you. Even though I didn't follow your growth closely, I know you're a good and kind person," she said and he knew she was crying too across the line.
He cried even more when his mother taught him. "Mom, you take care of the Pastry first. I know you can run it. I'm going to chill now.
Just don't worry about me. I'm in good hands," he said and immediately turned off his cellphone. He didn't want to hear his mother's voice crying anymore because it would only make him sadder. Somehow she was close to him. He knew that the truth and he will also clear his name.
He left his room and went to the bathroom next to the kitchen. His room doesn't even have its own bathroom. When he reached it, he quickly opened it. He screamed when he saw a naked man there taking a bath. He immediately covered his eyes with his two hands. The man was also confused and immediately grabbed the towel hanging inside the bathroom.
"Who are you? What are you doing here," he asked the man in a panic.
"Who are you! Don't you know how to knock?" the man asked him sarcastically.
His Aunt Zia was alarmed by his shouting when he returned from the resort. So he immediately rushed to the kitchen.
"What trouble is this?" it asked them.
His eyes alternated between him and the man.
"Eh, Auntie, I'm taking a bath. Did the bathroom open right away," explained the man. "Who is he, Aunt?"
"Aunt? He's your niece too?" he asked his aunt confused.
"Just wait!" wean it from them. Maybe he is confused as to who should answer the two of them first. "One by one. I forgot to intRamauce you earlier." Take a deep breath first. "Ivan, Giovanna is my nephew. Giovanna, Ivan. I'm here at home."
His aunt raised her eyebrows when she introduced him to the man.
"You thought wrong! He's not my boyfriend. It's a long story about how he ended up here. I'll tell you later," he explained when he saw the expression on his face.
"Nice to meet you, Giovanna." Dante held out his hand to him. And he shook hands.
He was startled when some electricity flowed from his palm to his. The guy was familiar. He just couldn't pinpoint where he saw it. "Have you eaten yet?" his Aunt asked him.
"Not yet, eh."
"There is food on the table. I covered it," interrupted Ivan. "Alright, I'm going to rinse first."
"Make sure the door is locked and you can't get busted," he told Ivan.
He just smiled at what he said. It turns out that it has biloy on both cheeks and its teeth are beautiful. But he noticed the scars on his face, small wounds on his body and the bandage on his shoulder.
But he didn't ask that.
He and his aunt came to the table together.
It turned out that he still hadn't eaten dinner so he went with him.
"Do you have many guests today, Aunt?" he asked.
"Just a little, eh. Not like in previous years," he answered. He put rice on his plate.
Before, when he was young, it was the one who took care of him when he went on vacation with them. It feeds him. So to this day, what he used to do for him he still does to him.
he asked his aunt.
"Who is Dantein your life, Aunt?" direct
"I know that's what you're going to ask me now because I saw the reaction on your face earlier,
," it said.
"As I told you earlier, Danteand I have no relationship. I only saw him at the beach one night unconscious and injured. He has amnesia. I named him Dantebecause he looks like Danteof PBB. Besides, I didn't see any identification on him when I found him."
"Have you blotted about him yet?" he asked wryly.
It shook its head. "Not anymore. And he liked that too.
His life seems to be in danger. We'll just wait for him to come back."
"That's still wrong, Aunt. It's like you denied his children to know if he's alive or dead," he insisted.
It sighed. "Maybe it's better that way, Giovanna. When I saw him at the beach, he looked pathetic. It was like he was tortured.
He has many cuts and bruises. Maybe you noticed his wounds that are about to heal."
He nodded at said aunt. "Didn't you read anything in the newspaper or see anything on TV looking for him?"
"Hmmm... Nothing. I was surprised by the lion."
He thought.
When they finished eating, he went to put away and wash what he and his aunt had eaten. After he washed, he decided to take a walk on the beach to get some fresh air. It was dark so he was sure no one would recognize or notice him there.
Carrying the cell phone, he just walked there on the beach. The surroundings are dark and quiet. Only the light of the moon illuminates the whole area. He needs to relax himself to think of a solution to his problem. He will not forever hide and run away from the problem he is now involved in.
He was wearing the mini-skirt and blouse he was wearing when he ran away that night. He continued walking. When he felt tired, he fell on the sand facing the sea.
He let himself get wet in the water.
Until that time, he still couldn't believe that he was involved in such a big problem. I hope everything is okay for him. He has a loving boyfriend. His business is going well. His only problem is his parents. And another big problem is that he needs to find a solution on how to solve it. But how?
He sank into his palms.
He placed his cell phone on the sand out of reach of the water and suddenly jumped into the sea. There he got tired of swimming. Feeling tired, he lay down and floated on the surface of the water. He savored the warmth of the water while watching the moon and stars in front of him.
He got up from there and sat down on the sand again. He picked up his cell phone and called Bianca. He knew he was worried about him too.
When he heard his hoarse voice, he knew that he already knew the news about him. Surely this is the first to know that he suddenly left the Dunkin Donuts without even saying goodbye.
"Sis, did you really kill that girl?" he asked him whining.
"Do you, too, believe what that woman said?" he immediately scolded here.
"Of course not! But sis, the woman is really pointing at you. Because you were the only one she saw there in the comfort room with the dead man. And worse, she has a photo of you holding the dead man and your hand is bloody," he said. its on the other line. "I'm texting your cellphone." I text and call you but it's turned off
"Because I'm not ready to talk about that yet, sis, so I really put my cell phone down. I really had nothing to do with that woman's death. I just saw her lying there lifeless. That's when the one entered she saw me there so she blamed me. I panicked, so I just left," he explained to Bianca.
"I believe you, sis. Right now the investigation in the case is still ongoing. But you are really their main suspect because the evidence against you is strong. Just be careful wherever you are now," he said, his voice hoarse from the crying on the other line.
"Thank you and you believe in me. Just help Mama in running the Pastry. I will see this as a big debt of gratitude, sis. Alright, I have to go now. Thank you very much," he said.
"You too, be careful." And he turned off his cellphone. Somehow he was lucky and had friends who were kind and willing to help him.
He stood up and walked down the beach again to his aunt's house.Download Novelah App
