Chapter 20 FIN
3RD PERSON'S POV
Orange left the pub that night in a daze, the haunting melody of the song still echoing in her mind. "Her name is Orange and her hair is blue..." The lyrics felt like a lifeline, pulling her back to memories she had tried desperately to bury. She walked briskly through the quiet streets, each step weighted with the emotional turmoil she had been carrying for weeks.
By the time she reached her front door, her heart was pounding. She fumbled with her keys, finally managing to unlock the door and step inside. The house felt eerily silent without her parents or Ellie, who were still away on their trip. Loneliness washed over her, but she pushed it aside, heading straight to her room.
Collapsing onto her bed, the weight of the night pressed down on her chest. The song played over and over in her mind, each note a reminder of what she had lost—and what she might still have. Exhaustion took over, and she drifted off into a restless sleep, where dreams were intertwined with memories of Rodora.
A faint knock at the door pulled her from her slumber. Disoriented, Orange stirred, trying to make sense of the late-night disturbance. The knocking persisted, soft but persistent, and she glanced at the clock on her bedside table—it was just past midnight. Her heart quickened with a mix of apprehension and curiosity.
Carefully, she made her way to the living room, the darkness enveloping her as she approached the entrance. Through the dim light filtering in from the porch, she saw a silhouette—a figure that seemed achingly familiar yet distant. Orange hesitated, her hand hovering over the doorknob, unsure of what awaited her on the other side.
"Mom? Dad? Ellie?" she called out tentatively, her voice barely above a whisper, hoping against hope that it was her family returning unexpectedly.
Silence greeted her, amplifying the tension in the air. With a trembling hand, she turned the doorknob and slowly opened the door. It wasn't her family standing there—it was Rodora.
Rodora stood before her, more beautiful and vulnerable than Orange remembered. Her presence filled the doorway with a mixture of longing and uncertainty. For a moment, neither spoke, the weight of unspoken words hanging heavy in the air between them.
"Rodora," Orange finally breathed, her voice barely audible above the silence that enveloped them.
Without a word, Rodora stepped forward, crossing the threshold into Orange's space. She closed the door gently behind her, her fingers reaching out to brush against Orange's cheek. The touch sent a wave of warmth through Orange, mingling with the ache in her heart.
"I had to see you," Rodora confessed softly, her voice trembling with emotion. "I couldn't stay away any longer."
Orange felt tears welling up in her eyes, emotions threatening to spill over. "Why now?" she managed to ask, her voice breaking under the weight of uncertainty. "Why tonight of all nights?"
Rodora took a deep breath, her gaze unwavering as it bore into Orange's soul. "Because tonight I realized something," she began, her voice thick with emotion. "That song... it was always for you. Every note, every word—it was about us. And I can't keep pretending that I don't need you in my life."
Orange's breath caught in her throat, a mixture of hope and fear rising within her. She had spent weeks trying to bury her feelings, trying to forget the pain of their separation. Yet here was Rodora, standing before her with raw honesty and vulnerability, laying bare her heart.
Before Orange could respond, Rodora leaned in, her lips seeking out Orange's in a tender, desperate kiss. Time seemed to stand still as they melted into each other, the world outside fading into insignificance. It was a kiss filled with longing, with regret, with the unspoken promise of what could be.
When they finally pulled apart, Rodora's eyes were glistening with tears, reflecting the depth of her emotions. "Please, Orange," she whispered hoarsely, her voice pleading and raw. "Accept me. Love me. Give us another chance. I know I've made mistakes, but I'm willing to try, to be better—for you, for us."
Orange felt her resolve crumbling, the walls she had painstakingly built around her heart beginning to crack. She looked into Rodora's eyes, seeing the sincerity and love shining through. In that moment, she knew that this was her chance—a chance to reclaim what they had lost, to rebuild something beautiful.
With a trembling breath, Orange nodded, her voice steadying as she found her resolve. "Okay," she managed to say, her voice thick with emotion. "Let's try. Let's be together."
Rodora's face lit up with a radiant smile, relief flooding her features as she pulled Orange into another embrace, her arms wrapping around her with a fierceness born of longing and hope. They held each other close, the weight of their past struggles melting away as they embraced the possibility of a future together.
In that quiet moment, Orange knew that love, in all its messy, complicated glory, was worth fighting for. They stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, the night stretching out before them with infinite possibilities.
It was a new beginning, forged in tears and kisses, in vulnerability and acceptance. And as they stood there, united in their embrace, Orange felt a sense of peace and clarity that she hadn't felt in a long time.
Their journey was far from over, but together, they were ready to face whatever lay ahead.
