“What do you mean?” I asked Luther who was standing in the door. “The traitor, she was the one who infiltrated the dorms and erected the barrier. It has something to do with the ender voice,” Luther conveyed. “But the ender voice is dead,” said Johann, “I killed her myself.” “It was a new ender voice. The ender was passed.” “That’s outrageous; the ender was already sealed in the academe!” Mayo exclaimed. “That’s why I told you! It was the traitor!” Luther yelled, tired from repeating his point all over again. “It is just hard to believe especially the fact that you knew about the traitor,” Monk Amon conveyed. The room fell silent. Suddenly, the silence was disturbed by a loud bang that sounded like it came from outside. “Alright, let’s settle this affair after we resolve that one problem out there,” I offered as a solution to everyone. Without waiting for their response I headed to the door, summoned my broom and flew quickly to the center of the academe where the fight was currently taking place. Outside I saw the huge barrier surrounding the dorms and the sparks and explosions that was happening inside it. “There are two other milieus sightings inside the dorms. The white mahò users are fighting them,” Luther reported as he caught up to me. “By the way, why are you not inside the dorms?” I asked him. Luther looked straight ahead and took his time answering my question when Johann appeared by my side riding his broom. “Maybe he knew about the traitor’s plan,” Johann voiced out, looking suspiciously at Luther. I was about to scold Johann off for making false assumptions when I noticed Luther did not react and tell me Johann was not telling the truth. “Luther… don’t tell me…” I trailed my words. Luther glanced at me with a pained expression on his face. “Yes, I knew about it.” He confirmed and a huge fireball came flying towards us. “Our famed mahò users are now here!” the voice of the person who owns the fireball thundered with his wicked laugh. “Lista! Behind you!” a familiar voice suddenly shouted from behind me. Before I could react an explosion already occurred behind my back. But to my own surprise I did not even blink when it happened. A barrier formed in front of me, and I knew it was Johann’s. I glanced at him and he nodded at me. I looked for the voice that shouted and I was right on spot on my guess. It was Monk Liya. I floated towards them, temporarily leaving the battlefield to Johann. “Where are you going little goddess?” the man above air asked in wonder. I gritted my teeth and ignored him. I trust Johann will buy me enough time. “I am your opponent black mahò user,” I heard Johann remark. “Harlequin! Don’t be like that, we are comrades,” he frivolously said to Johann. “We were, but not anymore,” Johann yelled followed by an explosion. I speed up and arrived at the monks who were lending support at the professors who was fighting closely at the man named Zeph. “Monk Liya! What happened?” I hastily asked with urgency. The only reason they were out at the academe and not in the temple are because this is their mission or the king has ordered for them to come here because this will threaten the safety of Llfhame and both choices are direly disturbing. “That is the first milieus executive Lista, the first ender, the ender of mind, and the little brother of Monk Amon, Zeph.” As she finished speaking, it all became clearer to me; the waves of memories slapped me like a splash of cold water that wakes me up from my trance. My eyes widened and I quickly, as fast as I could turn back to Johann who was facing the enemy. This is bad, the enemy, it was someone that Johann knew from the fast. Therefore he knows Johann’s ability. It was not all that bad if he only knew about Johann’s ability, the bad thing is, he is the first ender and that means he could predict moves. To make it worst, Johann’s ability centers on calculated moves. He was the worst match up. In this situation, Johann’s loss might be set on the table, but… the tables could be turned if he was to have a powerful piece. “Johann! The contract!” I shouted to Johann with urgency as Zeph was about to fire another fireball down to the knight and the bishop. I saw Lalia grin when she saw that the fireball’s trajectory was off. But I could see it, that fireball will definitely do something unexpected. “Now!” I ordered him. “But—“ “Do it now!” I yelled again, my eyes pacing back and forth to him and Lalia. Johann bit his lower lip and tightly closed his eyes and finally, a piece of parchment shone in front of me. It was a contract. Quickly, I murmured my pledge and agreed to the contract, and in a swift motion I was pulled beside Johann. “You really are stubborn,” he said. “Why am I stubborn when I just want to help?” I retaliated. He gave me a smug look and a smirk. As the fireball nearly hit the ground and the Lalia successfully evaded the incoming attack, the fireball changed trajectory and rushed to the unguarded Lalia. In a swift motion I casted an air bubble and clenched my fist to blow a cold breeze to the fireball. “My, the little goddess is here!” Zeph exclaimed, his eyes widening so much. “Tsk,” Johann clicked his tongue as he glared at the hovering man. “What are you doing here?” I asked with an unwelcoming tone to the first milieus. He stared at me for a while and gave me a malicious grin. “You see, my subordinate came home injured and failed to bring what I have asked for,” he said, the mana surrounding him became even intense and blazing like his attribute. The professors and the monks who were outside the domain chess board felt the killing intent letting them all focus on the battle more.
