Chapter 25 XXV

The following day...
I couldn't believe that I was now inside the cell instead of being returned to my room. I wanted to rage in annoyance or anger that I felt at the moment. My talented sibling (the Queen in this world) didn't even bother to visit me. If I get out of this cell, I'll be the one to kill Aleksei, and I'm seething with anger towards him.
"Lady Aurelia, why aren't you touching your food?" it was the same woman from yesterday, Asheriania. Her name was quite complicated. In this world, I'm Lady Aurelia, and my sister, the queen, is named Avalone. What's with the names starting with an 'A'?
"Where's the Queen?" I didn't bother to answer her question. I hadn't eaten since this morning. I needed to get out of here.
"The King forbids the Queen from visiting you," she said, taking the uneaten food she brought earlier.
I glared at her in annoyance. "Call Aleksei, I need to speak with that man."
She furrowed her brow. She didn't know the king's name. "I mean his highness. I need to talk to him or help me get out of here," I sighed, feeling like my time was being wasted.
She shook her head. "I can't help you. I'm just here to deliver your food, Lady Aurelia," she said before leaving me alone.
"Aleksei! Let me out!" I was also foolish. Why didn't I consider that he wouldn't believe what I would say? He's a mage, and he should know that I'm not a liar. What should I do? How can I get out of here? I need to return to my world. Dreamer and Ichi need me.
I heard some noise from the adjacent room. I knew I wasn't the only one in the traitor’s dungeon.
"I feel that you are different from us," someone spoke in the adjoining room. I sat at the edge of the bed.
"Who are you? And what did you do to be imprisoned here like me?" I asked simply. I couldn't see his face because there was concrete blocking our view.
"I used black magic, that's why I'm here, sealed."
Black magic? I really detest fantasy. What's so great about a fantasy world? "Used?" I questioned.
"I used black magic against her highness, and eventually she will kill his highness tomorrow. She's under the black magic."
I gasped in shock. The queen will kill Aleksei? "But why are you telling me the truth? Shouldn’t you hide the truth?"
I heard a faint chuckle from the other room. "You are not the only one who can stop what is meant to happen."
I smiled subtly at his words even though he couldn't see me. "You're right, but I'm not the kind of person who does nothing." I will find a way to save Aleksei. But how? What kind of black magic did she gonna use on Aleksei? I know nothing about black magic!
If I can return to my real world, I hope I never see Zyair again. What he did to me was painful. Unforgivable.
The next day…
When the night came while lying in bed, Mr. Hwang suddenly appeared. He almost scared me.
"Mr.--"
He quickly covered my mouth. "Shhh... Listen, I'll tell you something," he said in a low voice before moving away from me.
I nodded. "Are you a Magi?" I asked, and he immediately shook his head.
"I'm not from this world, but I'll help you get out of here, and you have to do your job tonight," he said. He seemed in a rush.
"Deal." As I said that, I suddenly felt dizzy and almost fell, and when I looked around, did I teleport? Um? What's happening?
I looked around and noticed that I was far away from Aleksei. I was at the venue where he was celebrating his birthday. The place was adorned with luxurious decorations, intricate designs, and lavish furnishings.
A grand chandelier hung at the top center of the room, elegant draperies, and exquisite floral arrangements. The predominant theme colors were gold and royal blue. The seating arrangements were carefully planned for the royal guests and dignitaries, with plush chairs or thrones for the King and Queen. I could hear live music, dance performances, and fireworks displays entertaining the guests, creating a festive atmosphere. Who wouldn't be amazed by such an event? It was so beautiful that I almost forgot that Aleksei's life was in danger and that I needed to save him. But how? I don't have magic, I'm only an executioner assassin.
I could see him at the end of the hall, seated with the queen, both looking happy. Did they forget to invite me? I discreetly passed by and approached the area where they were both busy.
"Lady Aurelia." Someone suddenly blocked my path.
"What do you want?" I asked irritably to the man who blocked my path. I needed to stop what was about to happen and go home. My cats need me.
"Sorry, m'lady." He bowed and left me alone.
I continued to approach when I heard the name Lady Aurelia called.
"Lady Aurelia, princess of Silvermoon Castle, Queen Avalone's sister. Please come forward." Whoever announced my name, just wait, I'll deal with you later.
All eyes were on me as I walked towards them. I stopped a few paces away and raised an eyebrow as I looked at Aleksei and Avalone before me. The Queen had a smile on her face, but Aleksei glared at me with hatred in his eyes. Did I do something wrong?
Aleksei stood up from his seat, holding a glass of wine.
"Lady Aurelia. What are you doing here? I didn't invite you to this gathering."
"Alek--His Highness, Her Highness," I replied seriously while looking at Aleksei. "I'm a free woman. I can do whatever I want."
"I locked you up in the dungeon, how did you escape?"
"You don't--" my attention shifted to the side when Queen Avalone's suddenly stood up. Her expression darkened, her eyes filled with determination as she cast a spell of betrayal, enveloping Aleksei in dark energies. She raised her hand, uttering words of an ancient curse. Aleksei's eyes widened in realization. Oh no! I had to stop her! I was about to approach the Queen when she cast a spell on me. I detested magic!
"Aleksei! Use your powers, you dimwit! Agh!" I suddenly felt a hand on my stomach, feeling like it was digging into me.
Screams erupted in the room, people rushing out, screaming... as Aleksei faced the Queen. Despite his powers, he tried to break free from the black magic, but it was more potent. He attempted to reverse the ancient curse, but it failed. I thought he was the most powerful mage in his world? Black magic was more challenging than I anticipated.
"Kill her--" I slumped to the floor, vomiting blood, feeling my life slowly slipping away.
No. I couldn't die in Aleksei's world. I tried to stand up but only vomited more blood and writhed in pain. I hated this world, I hated magic, and I hated Aleksei. Chaos ensued as he fought against Queen Avalone, his own queen. If I were in the real world, I could kill someone in an instant, but what chance did I have against a fantasy character with black magic?
Dreamer and Ichi needed their mom. They needed me. I had to go back.
