Chapter 25 XXV
FAWN 🍂 25
(Day 21, Wednesday)
I was glad that yesterday was a successful day, but after that, Zevadiah and I went to Mrs. Creus' office together, and she talked to us even though it was past eight o'clock at night. After that, Felly went with us and slept at my house, in my room, with her sleeping bag that she brought last night.
When I wake up in the morning, Felly is gone. That woman is always up early, no matter what. She always gets up on time. She didn't wake me up so that we could go to school together. Instead she left me. I look at the clock: 6:30. I groan as I jump out of bed and go into the bathroom. Obviously, I take a shower because I always want to be fresh.
I never skip a day without showering, like it's a part of me from when I grew up, and I hate to smell bad on myself, but somehow, it's odd, but I never smell bad, even after dancing or sweating. I guess it's normal, or maybe not. Regardless, I'm going to be late if I don't move fast. The most annoying part of wearing our school uniform is tying the tie during the first few weeks of school, but now it seems like a piece of cake for me to do every day.
My movements double, goodness, I'm going to be late. After I put on my uniform, I run quickly to the dining room, grab two pieces of sandwiches that Mom made, and kiss her on the cheek.
"I can't drive you to school today, Arlo, but I will tomorrow," I tell my brother before leaving the house and hailing a ride to school.
The school has twenty school buses, but they're always early, and the fares are expensive compared to normal rides. I actually run to my classroom. Zevadiah greets me with a warm hug, like our usual routine, and that's when our teacher sees the scene and clears his throat.
Zevadiah pulls away, and I want to smack him when he winks at me before looking at Mr. Dumlao.
"Morning, Mr. Dumlao," he says coolly before pulling me towards our seats. I'm still catching my breath when I finally sit down. Mr. Dumlao, for sure, has some beef with Zevadiah based on how he treats him during his previous classes. I'm not surprised when he starts asking Zevadiah question after question without any discussion first.
Zevadiah, being the smart ass that he is, answers confidently, without a doubt. I wish I had some of his confidence, but it seems pretty annoying. So, I'll stick to being in between. I tear out a sheet from my notepad and write something on it.
'I know I don't usually ask questions about you, but I'm going to ask right now. Do you have an eidetic memory by any chance?'
I let Zevadiah finish answering Mr. Dumlao's questions before putting the paper on his desk, when he sits back down. My attention is still on Mr. Dumlao when he starts his lesson. I don't want to repeat what happened yesterday in Mrs. Creus' class, so, yes, I'm going to pay attention now. When a piece of paper lands on my desk, I quietly read it.
‘Glad you asked. Yes,’ it says. I raise an eyebrow but don't reply. I pay full attention the whole morning, and when lunch comes, I immediately go to Felly and pinch her on the side.
She winces and glares at me. "Ow! What was that for?" she asks me. I give her a look.
"You're nuts! You didn't even wake me up so we could go to school together. You're so random, dhai. You're annoying as ever," she laughs loudly, making me even more annoyed. I punch her arm lightly. "Hey! What was that for, dhai? That's not funny. Don't laugh," I say.
"Ouch!" she complains. I'm in a bad mood, and she's just laughing at me. This crazy woman is so random. "Sorry I didn't wake you up early. Okay? You were sleeping so soundly, so I didn't want to wake you. It would be rude to disrupt your beauty sleep," she says, rubbing the arm I punched.
"You're lucky I love you, even though I almost got late because of you," I say, rolling my eyes. The crazy woman just grins.
"I love you too, dhai, even though you're a bit of a hitter. Are you okay now?" she asks.
"I'm okay now," I reply, and she puts her arm around me. We leave the room together.
Zevadiah knows that during lunch breaks, I have to spend time with Felly because she came into my life before him. Somehow, I'm glad he never becomes a third wheel and never hangs out with us during lunch. Of course, I'd prefer if he hung out with other humans too instead of sticking with us. He can spend time with anyone, even women. I'm not the jealous type, so I'm kind of cool with it. Besides, we're not dating; we're just in the stage or phase of getting to know each other, or maybe getting to know him since he already knows me because, like he said, even though it's still absurd, that he's from the future.
Trust? Maybe. That man is a simp when it comes to me. That makes me comfortable knowing he won't cheat. Maybe I'm the one who will cheat since my biological dad is a cheater. I have his blood, I guess I have to accept that.
Felly and I are busy talking while we eat.
"Shaun and I already reported Anya as a missing person the other night. I have so many questions for Anya. I'm annoyed because, in the first place, I didn't like Anya for Lucas, but they were together for years. Then I found out Anya was the one who broke up with my brother, and then I find out she was pregnant, aborted the baby, and poof, she's gone like nothing happened. Like, I get it, she broke up with my brother, but, dhai, the baby is innocent. She should have considered letting Lucas know first. I'm annoyed by what Anya did. If I ever see her, I might hurt her," she says.
I almost choke on my food because Felly is speaking so quickly while I'm still processing what she said. "Wait! Hold up. So you're telling me that Anya was pregnant? And she had an abortion without Lucas knowing first?" I take a drink of water and wait for her to speak.
She slams her hands on the table. "Yes, exactly. Like, dhai, who in their right mind would do that without telling the father of the baby?"
I nod. "I get your point, dhai. It was her body after all, so maybe she thought, 'My body, my choice,' so she aborted the baby," I say.
She stares at me, silent for a few seconds, then sighs. "Still, an innocent life was taken away in a brutal way," she says.
I nod. Family planning is really important. You don't want a child inside your stomach, but you still want to have intercourse? Simple, use some protection or be on birth control, people.
"Ops, sorry. I slipped," someone from behind my back said.
I almost scream when a cold splash of water lands on my uniform, making it wet. Holy crap.
"What the hell?" I look up, but Felly stands first and grabs her glass from the table, then throws the contents directly at Arjo's face. She's really quick as always.
"Oh my gosh! What is wrong with you, Nazi?!" Arjo screams, his uniform is now soaked from what Felly did.
I immediately stand up and stop Felly from attacking Arjo. "You damn little queer! My friend didn't do anything to you, and you treat her like this?! Hey! You're lucky I didn't tell the CEO about what you did when you blocked the cubicle door while my friend was inside! If you do something else again, I'll shove this glass down your throat! You're a pain in the neck! You mother fucking bastard!"
I hug Felly tightly from behind as she tries to hurt Arjo and get close to him.
"Damn you, nazi! I'll make you pay for this!" Arjo tries to slap her, but a few students stop him and pull him away from Felly.
"Heh!" Felly tries to break free from my grasp, but I tighten my hold on her. "Shut up, you queer!"
"Dhai, stop, it's getting worse if you keep arguing with him," I don't want any trouble and for Felly to get caught up in it. But I can't predict her sometimes.
"Dhai, no! Let me go for a second, and I'll slap the hell out of this queer! I'm so done of his bullshits!"
"Felizitas, enough, don't engage with him," I tell her while she's trying to break free from my hold.
"No! I know he did that on purpose! It wasn't an accident!"
Arjo rolls his eyes at Felly's words. "I slipped, and coincidentally, your stupid friend was in the way," he argues. They both refuse to back down.
"Felizitas Hoffman." I gasp at the voice calling my best friend's name. It's Elio. Wait? Why does he look angry? Felly even stops yelling and fighting my grip on her. Elio is followed by Zev.
I completely release my hold on Felly, but I'm surprised when she grabs a glass from a student near us and pours the contents over her own head.
I gasp, and my eyes widen. "Dhai!" Now she's soaked too, just like me and Arjo.
This girl is really crazy and unpredictable. She grins and walks toward me. "Let's go see the CEO and report some bitch," she says. I don't have time to speak before she drags me out of the cafeteria, both of our uniforms soaked.
We pass Elio, and he tries to talk to us, Zev too, but we ignore them. Felly is like a bomb sometimes, so I don't trigger her sometimes. She was the most protective person if anyone ever messed with us before. Bella, Reese, Felly, and Fawn. The four of us were like sisters.
Felly is the protective and badass one. Reese was the one who talked a lot. She never ran out of words to say and loved camping. Bella was like the good girl of the group, very religious, and always went to church every Sunday, dragging us with her and her family. And me, the introverted one, living in my own world.
"You're really crazy. Why did you pour that glass of water on yourself?" I ask, as she finally puts her arm around me. Some students are looking in our direction as we make our way to the CEO's office.
"At least that makes the three of us soaked rather than you alone. That would be lonely and no fun," I laugh at her response.
"You're really crazy," I say, shaking my head.
"Yeah, and this crazy friend of yours loves you," she says.
"Through thick and thin, and in sickness and in health," I say with a smile.
"Like a married couple," she adds, and we both laugh.
I'm glad to have someone like her. A crazy and unpredictable best friend.Download Novelah App
