17. Fresh Air While

"I had expected that you would come here." Mr. Vatic smiled at the stranger's arrival.

The stranger pointed his gun at Mr. Vatic.

"It was as I was told; you would come. Thank you for coming here," Mr. Vatic said calmly. He felt no fear at all as the gun was pointed at him.

"Someone told you?" the stranger asked flatly.

"Yes."

"Who was the person who told you?" Tell me!" The stranger looked curious about the figure Mr. Vatic was talking about.

"Instead of telling you, I'm sure you must know him well."

The stranger's brow furrowed, and he tried to think of who that figure was. "I'm not in the mood to follow your riddle. Tell me clearly who that person is."

"It seems that because you've been too dark-eyed, you don't remember who the person you most want to meet is," said Mr. Vatic.

"Enough fooling around up to here." The stranger was about to pull the trigger of his gun, but just as he was about to pull the trigger, Mr. Vatic tried to stop him.

"Before you kill me, let me give you this message." Mr. Vatic looked at the stranger intently.

"Say it!" the stranger ordered.

"End all this before it's too late. You can never change anything, no matter how hard you try. Learn to accept everything that has happened. If you ignore this message, in the end, you will only end up in futility. The man with brown hair told me to deliver these words to you." Mr. Vatic smiled, then told the stranger to kill him. "Since I've told you, now shoot me and end it all. You must change after this rain. Stop hurting others."

"How did you know my name?"

"It was the man with brown hair who told me," Mr. Vatic replied.

"Who? Who is that guy?" screamed Rain.

"You'll find out when this is all over." Mr. Vatic walked over to Rain. He brought his head to the tip of the gun's mouth. "You'll find the answer later. Goodbye." After that, Mr. Vatic deliberately pulled Rain's finger to press the trigger of his gun.

DOR

Mr. Vatic fell to the ground with a hole in his head. Blood poured out of his head. The man died after shooting himself in the head.

Rain was shocked for the first time. She felt a different sensation when she saw someone die in front of her own eyes. Usually, she was never this nervous when someone died in front of her eyes.

Something that had long been missing from her has now reappeared on the surface of her dark heart. Something that was difficult to describe in words and that he had been avoiding all this time. Something that had long been gone but reappeared suddenly namely emotional feelings,

Rain's heart was now beating erratically. A strange feeling surfaced in his heart. Her head was dizzy, and her breathing felt irregular.

"Can a heart that's been frozen for too long turn warm again?" Regen looked out the window. The fading evening light, which was a typical reddish-orange color, calmed his heart a little.

Graiss, who was sitting in front of Regen, looked puzzled in response. He wanted to try to comfort the young man, but he did not have the right words to say.

"I'm sorry, I don't know what to answer," Graiss regretted.

Regen turned to smile at Graiss, then let a hand reach out to ruffle the clone girl's hair.

"It's okay. I guess I was too lost in my thoughts. Thank you for listening," he said sincerely.

"You're thinking about that guy named Rain, aren't you?" said Graiss. Maybe she had no trouble responding to the current situation, but the girl knew where the conversation was going. Regen was currently talking about a figure named Rain.

Regen was a little surprised to find Graiss suddenly mentioning the figure named Rain. But he quickly recalled that Graiss, as a clone, had the advantage of thinking quickly.

"Yes. I thought about it. That person named Rain must be living in hardship. I feel as if I can feel what he feels. Even though we are two different people," Regen seemed to be trying to understand his feelings at the moment. "It feels so strange. The feelings that person has seem to be connected to me."

"Empathy; it seems like you empathize with him. I think you empathize with him. You told me yourself that when one feels the pain of another person, that is called empathy," Graiss said innocently.

"That seems to be the case. You're really smart, Graiss." Regen pinched the clone girl's cheek anxiously. "I guess I did empathize with him."

But why does it still feel like there's something wrong? This feels like more than just empathy, Regen thought frantically.

"How about we go for a walk? You look so glum, Regen. Mr. Lotto used to take me and Hassel for a walk whenever he felt dizzy. Mr. Lotto said that going for a walk helps to refresh the mind," suggested Graiss.

"Well, that sounds good. Then let's get ready to go out." Regen agreed to Graiss' suggestion.

***

The bungeoppang with chocolate-flavored filling tasted so sweet on Regen's tongue. The sweetness of the fish-shaped cake was enough to comfort him.

"Do you like it?" asked Graiss as she blew on the hot fish cake. "Hassel and I used to always buy these whenever we went out," he said.

"I thought I would like these. The sweetness makes me feel better." Regen enjoyed the fish-shaped cake. "If only this cake could breed, I'd like to raise bungeoppang in my private pond. It would be nice to see lots of Bungeoppang children. I'm sure they would have a variety of different flavors," Regen joked. Such was Regen's unique habit; he would talk nonsense to amuse himself.

"Then I want the bungeoppang you raise to have a chocolate flavor. It would be great if you could become the No. 1 bungeoppang breeder in South Korea." Graiss also chimed in, like Regen.

"Well, if I become the breeder, you can become the distributor of my bungeoppang." Regen began to imagine himself becoming a successful bungeoppang breeder.

"That's fine. Oh yeah, I want to buy some dumplings. Do you want some too?" offered Graiss.

Regen nodded. "Want me to accompany you?"

Graiss shook her head. "No, you don't have to. I want to buy it myself; do you mind?"

"I really want to accompany you. But if you want to buy it yourself, that's fine. You should be careful and not follow suspicious strangers!" Regen advised. The young man was protective of Graiss, whom he considered to be very young and who always needed supervision.

"Take it easy. I'll be fine. I promise I won't be long," said Graiss soothingly to Regen. The little girl then left Regen to buy some dumplings.

After Graiss left, Regen sighed heavily. He quickly returned to showing his frustration.
