Chapter 32 : Battle (part two)

All of us went our separate ways. I manoeuvred my horse straight ahead, slashing anyone who dared to come. Loud clashing of swords and shouts of agony is filling my ears. I grunted heavily as I tried to use more force to lift my sword up, two men were trying to take down my sword, hitting it with full force. Nevertheless, I was able to counter their forces and was able to make them move for a few paces backward.
I shouted at the top of my lungs and stabbed my sword on both of the Sassenachs dashing on my way. I forcefully pulled my sword out leaving an empty hole directly in their hearts. Their nasty blood splashed towards me. Feeling the sticky feeling of blood on my cheek and clothes, I watched in awe as their blood trickled on my sword tracing down its sharpness until finally, the pints of blood dropped on the ground.
I roamed my eyes to look for Fergus and the King. I saw Fergus in the distance. He might have not been trained to use swords since he was a child. I saw his tremendous effort to practise and gave his best to learn how to control the blade. I watched as he expertly twisted his sword leaving all the enemies that were blocking him, on the ground— lifeless.
I changed the direction that I was going. I commanded Storm to run towards Fergus when I saw him having difficulty taking the enemies down. They know that he is a highlander. They know that he is not used to skillfully controlling the sharpness of the blade.
"Fergus!" I shouted. I continuously whipped Storm just to increase her pace and I would be able to save Fergus on time. But what shocked me was his next move. He is currently fighting with a sassenach in full armour. We both know that the swords are incomparable to the full iron suit designed for war. Just as expected, his sword was stuck on the armour. The man in the knight suit was supposed to stab him with his sword, yet he did not only dodge the attack, but he was hiding a spear on his scabbard. He mercilessly stabbed it right on the face of the knight where his face was bare. Fergus pushed the spear deeper making the blood splash like a fountain hitting a vital point of the latter's face.
I gasped when I noticed an attacker on his back. He might have not noticed his presence as he was pulling his spear from that knight's face. With sure determination, and luck— because the attacker was not wearing any suit —I pulled a spear from my back that was prepared on purpose to serve as a backup. I gathered all my strength, positioned myself on the enemy's back and forcefully threw the spear towards the enemy.
Bingo! I shouted at my mind. The enemy was directly hit on his back, which I guess was also the back of his heart causing him to fall on the ground in an instant. I then commanded Storm to gallop faster to reach his aid. He also tried to leave his place to meet me but a lot of sassenachs were swarming around him.
I pulled the spear from the one I shot as I passed through his dead body before reaching Fergus' side. "That was a nice aim," he commented. I smiled and stabbed it again at someone before I turned to him a little. "Thanks," I grunted.
We continued to endlessly stab, slash, and pull our spears and swords from the enemy. My arms are starting to hurt and I am also getting tired but it seems like none from the enemy's side wants to give up. I can also feel Fergus almost slowing down on my back but is still pushing through his limits. Blood has been covering both of our faces. A pool of blood and a pile of dead bodies have also been covering the what was once green fields of the borders.
When I felt that the enemies coming towards us were getting slower, I took that time to look around and see what was happening around me. Our forces and the Englishmen are still busy fighting for their lives. We have lost a lot of lives on our side, but so did the enemy. I am still quite thankful that we have enough forces to get through while our little rescue is still not here.
I tried looking out for the king but found nothing. His shadow cannot be seen even in the side of the medics! Worry began to fill me as I realised that I have not noticed the king ever since we started this battle. I know he went straight for the baroness and Edward, but where is he now?
"Just keep on fighting over here. I'll go look for the king," I told Fergus when I realised that I couldn't really find the king over the last few minutes of surveying the whole surrounding. He immediately nodded and with a heavy breathing he replied, "Alright, I'll handle them from here and try to suppress them a little. Take care of yourself."
I rode my horse past the fighting knights. I went over the fighting forces but still, no traces could be found. I held on to my sword tightly, slashing and stabbing everyone that dares to come to me and charge towards me.
"King Malcolm!" I shouted when I finally caught a glimpse of him in the distance, busy fighting head on with Edward. I quickly rode to his side and unmounted Storm to help him fight this nasty English Sassenach. Edward laughed as he swayed his sword on both left and right simultaneously as both the King and I were fighting him alternately.
"Victoria, my darling supposed to be wife, you'll never want this to happen. Surely you'll never want to fight me now once you see him," Edward mocked me. I halted momentarily on my tracks. He laughed louder than ever because he knew that the taunting he did had worked on me.
"Look on your left, you might find something valuable," Edward said as he took a step back from fighting with the king. King Malcolm, on the other hand, went near me for support. I looked at the direction Edward was saying and was beyond flabbergasted as I saw my father. He was kneeling, with his mouth covered in cloth and tied with big and thick ropes around him. The Baroness was standing beside him with some knight on my father's back. Aside from being captive and tied, he seemed fine. Like he is well taken care of and was tied to avoid any mishaps in case he wants to flee away.
"Father!" I shouted. I was supposed to help him but he shook his head vigorously. He was eyeing something and terror was in his face but I could not comprehend what it was or what it meant. I took a step before the Baroness glared at me like a hawk.
He ordered a man to remove the cloth covering my father's mouth. As soon as the cloth was removed, all I could hear was my father's shout. "Victoria!" As the next thing I heard was the grunt of the king on my back.
I quickly turned around only to be filled with terror. The king, the mighty and powerful king of Scorland is now on his knees, vomiting blood. He was kneeling sideways as to where I am standing so I have clearly seen the long slash on his back.
Filled with rage I charged towards Edward with full force and slashed my sword on him. He was quick and lucky enough to dodge, not after I was able to also slash him on his side. Blood was dripping on him from his waist and I am certain that what I made was a deep wound. I was about to stab him again but the Baroness called my attention and a sword was placed above my father's head.
I have got no choice but to let go of my sword as they also dropped theirs and ran away from there as fast as they could on foot together with their knights beside them.
