Chapter 57: Back on the Game

"Why are we here again?" Hawk asked Fox.
The night is deep but they are still at work. Their little vacation has ended, sadly, their project is waiting to be finished. Carefully, they snuck along the walls of the mansion.
"This is our only shot to see Dylan. A report was issued, another assassin tried to kill Dylan at Langston Corporation. We can't lose this project, because if we do, we'll say goodbye to 10 billion." Fox replied in a whispering tone.
Hawk knew how dangerous her plan is, but all that he can do now is just follow. Fox do have a point, now, the king will be more elusive. He might move somewhere else or hide, and if he does, that will make their job harder to accomplish.
At the corner of the guard walls, Hawk boosted Drea in. Their black suits gave them a pretty good camouflage. Almost no one could suspect that they are there. Hawk followed, it was a mystery how he was able to climb up.
The night started to creep more darker, by the garden, the two assassins could see bodies of sleeping men. They were the members of Blackhex league. The smoke bomb Drea dropped was strong.
Fox couldn't help but to wonder of what happened here.
'Are we too late for the action?'
Hawk looked around as well, they kept both eyes open to process. No one can see or capture them. Bluemierre is a dangerous league they need to be careful. Like ballerinas dancing for a recital, they walked across the garden grass gracefully, not a footstep was heard.
Fox saw that a few of the guards were still left outside watching, they were positioned to their different districts. The mansion's defense system was planned well.
From the dark corner, they both stopped. Fox's mind started to function.
'How can I get in without being seen?'
It was hard to find an entrance, windows were authentically designed, they are unaware of how to operate or open it. The whole house itself is feared of having traps or detectors.
Finally, Fox remembered an old trick of hers. After seeing a window opened at the second floor, she knew of what she should do. Hawk could read her mind. The dangers of climbing is weighed in razor thin chances. She could assassinate Dylan or herself.
Fox position herself for the high jump, her aim is to reach a railing or just something to grab unto. But before she could do so, Hawk gripped her left arm.
"Be careful." He whispered.
Fox just nodded. She knew that his voice is filled with care. For a very long time, she was numb, but now, she's able to notice. After Hawk freed her, she quickly took her chance.
With power springing from her legs, Fox jumped. It was high, her hands were swift, it grabbed a railing. Luckily, the strength of her legs were enough to reach it.
For almost a 30 seconds, Fox was left hanging. But after she gained strength from her upper body, she pulled herself up. The landing was nearly flawless. Fox is not just an Ace, she's also a bird.
From the terrace of the second floor, Fox continued to explore her way in. The room connected to it was dark, she can sense no movement or vibration. That was her cue, Fox opened the glass door.
No one reacted, it became her confirmation. No one is inside. But despite the emptiness of the room, she carefully gazed inside before entering. She couldn't see anything, but that doesn't mean that there is nothing inside.
From the second floor, Fox could hear all the clapping and cheering. She guessed that everyone is busy. Carefully, she went in. But before she could move further, Fox wore her night vision glasses. It made it possible for her to see despite the dark.
Fox continued her phase. From the near side, she reached for the door knob. Slowly, she twisted it open. The whole place brightened after light entered the room. The mansion from the inside was filled with lights.
The halls were big, Fox is not sure of where she must go. But from what she can feel, her instincts drags her towards the living room, where the celebration is occuring.
Fox's steps were light, they remained unheard. At the end of the hallway, she tried to take a glimpse below. Fox glanced quickly, she saw Dylan, his target. But his position is hard to assassinate. The king is crowded with people. She couldn't get a clear shot.
Fox continued to look around, she needs a place where she can position herself for the shot. Alas! A flower vase near the staircase can hide her figure. Quickly, she went near it to hide herself.
The gun she's carrying was aligned to her target. Slowly, she adjusted the sniper range. People departed from Dylan, but as Fox focused on Dylan's face, a senior noticed her. She was unaware that someone could see her.
'It's now or never,' Fox concluded.
She then pulled the trigger, her shot won't miss. But as the bullet fly swiftly, the senior smiled. He knew what should he do. Quickly, he caught the bullet using his body, it did not damaged the king, the senior capo offered his life for service.
Not for long, all of the members noticed what just happened, one of the oldest members of Bluemierre Crest is down. They hurriedly assisted the old man. His body was lying cold across the floor. Dylan wasn't expecting any of this, he remained frozen.
"Search the halls!" Langston ordered, his voice was raising with anger.
Fox immediately moved, she did not mean to kill anyone that's not part of her target, even she was shocked. A hint of guilt could be seen in her face, the senior reminds her of someone.
As Fox escape, someone from below noticed her. The guard spoke, pointing towards her direction.
"There! The assassin is upstairs!"
Fox's steps accelerated even more. She needs to get out of here or else the senior and her will share the same grave.
