Chapter 32: Meeting The Williams.
Overthinking?....
Overthinking is a peace eater, yet it gives you insight of what's to happen, you might see what's to happen before it happens, and when that scenario occurs, instead of you to react to it, you'll automatically remain calm because you already know it was going to happen, you already saw it coming.
When we've returned back to our separate homes, preparing for meeting my parents tomorrow, I decided to pull up a trick, it's not part of what I'm used to, but I decided to do it this way.
I called Jack, asking him to sacrifice his hours for me for tomorrow, Benita has already gone back to school, so I decided to leave her out of this, since she has already met her and they even happened to be best of friends, I called my mom, told her that I will be coming before noon with my new lady, but I left out my Dad because he already knew I was coming, I already told him.
The plan was to go meet my parents with my new lady, but I have something else in mind, something more surprising for them, something that would take them aback, something only Jack knows.
Arriving at my former shelter where I once called home, my parents live in there, and they're in there right now, expecting my arrival. Packing my car in the garage we headed inside their home.
Lydia looked at me, that eyes that signals, are you sure about this?, Without her asking me, just staring, I nodded my head and knocked on the door.
The door was opened and Jack was there before us, the bright smile on his face reduced a bit, but then lighten up again as he embraced me, then Lydia. “ I hope you know what you're doing bro ”. He said, giving me a heads-up of what I am heading into, making me to remember what I'm actually here for.
Stepping into the sitting room, my Mom turned to come and greet us but was shocked by her sight, confusion replaced that happy face, but not in a negative way, rather in a way that shows I wasn't expecting this. Lydia tried to be brave by my side, already getting a heads-up about the kind of parents I have. Dad was stoic as always, he got up from his chair, came to me and gave me a hug before returning to his seat as if there wasn't any question in his thoughts.
“ Lydia?”.
My Mom called her, knowing what that means, it's a question that calls for explanation, Lydia looked down, not that she was embarrassed, but she doesn't know what to say, not after they have been friends for a long time and she never told her.
“ Mom, Dad, Jack.... This is Lydia, my personal assistant, she was once the secretary I employed to help me in the office, but now, she's to be my partner for helping me in my life also, she's managing my life like a wife should, a mother looking after her boy and a maid guarding her bosses son.... She's a girl who turned my life around, showing me her character and why she's the perfection that beautifies my life, as you can see.... She already has a young daughter, Linda ( I took Linda from her, holding her in my arms), Linda here happens to be the best thing that ever happened to her and by that, it also means she's mine, since her young mother belongs to me too, I'm really glad that I am the man that gets hold of this beautiful woman, choosing me, despite the fact she once already gave up on love.....”
I finished with my speech, Linda in my hold and the sitting room silent, Jack seated just like Dad, confident and stoic, not blinking or showing any sign of emotion, just a blank face, as well as me too.
Out of this three blank faces, I know that two was in support of me, but the last person's point of view can be taken as a three point, making it one above ours, that's the calculation going through my mind. Jack has no problem with me and Lydia together with our child, Linda, I love my decision, so I am in for it, but Dad, that blank face have so much meaning behind it, just like a person who knows exactly what is happening but decides to remain quiet, waiting for others to finish what they were talking about, despite the fact no one is actually talking.
“ Dad?....”.
Jack called him, as if he was waiting for Dad to speak. I wanted to tell them that I just came here to make an introduction, their opinions about Lydia was none of my concern, but that's when Dad spoke.
“ I'm a father, I have my sons whom I gave birth to and sent them out on the world to live there lives, both went in, achieved success, followed my footsteps by getting themselves someone they think can replace their mom and also a child that could take their place while they take my place, what more can a Father ask for?....”.
Speaking about the man that always leaves me in awe of him, it's my Dad, it feels like he has the answer to everything but sits back for the right time to share it with those that needed it.
“ Does that mean that you're okay with me and Lydia?, Even though she has another man's child?”. I don't know how that came out, but does come out from my mouth, causing Lydia to look down a bit, sh*t, I just went out of line.
“ I don't know what you're talking about Dave, what I know is that you came with you a daughter which I can call my own granddaughter..... I don't care about your decision, as far as you're ready to take responsibility, it's fine by me.....”.Download Novelah App
