Chapter 24 OUR DESTINY
I smiled as I looked at the picture of my wedding with Aydan. It feels like just yesterday we were married. I still remember how worried Mom and Dad were the night I was with Aydan. They both thought that someone had kidnapped me. What surprised them the most was my smile. That night, Aydan immediately told Mom and Dad about his desire to marry me, and it was the worst night for Aydan as Mom, Dad, and my siblings questioned like a criminal. My wedding went perfectly and grandly. Who would have thought that the sadness I felt was actually the beginning of unimaginable happiness for me?
"What are you doing?" Aydan asked, resting his chin on my shoulder.
"Just reminiscing about our wedding," I replied.
"Talk about our wedding, you know, Adam, your bodyguard? The night we got married, he came to me, asking for forgiveness," Aydan revealed.
"What? Why?" I laughed.
"He said, 'I'm sorry, sir. I've fallen for Hanna. I don't intend to forget my feelings for her, even after this wedding. If you hurt her, I'll make her mine like that,'" Aydan said.
I burst out laughing.
"Really? I never thought he had feelings for me."
Aydan hugged my waist. "You didn't notice him because of your sadness. That night, I promised myself, I'll make you happy forever." Aydan turned me to face him, holding both my hands.
"This is our destiny, Hanna. Let's live our lives to the fullest. Together. Forever."
I nodded with a smile.
"Sure."
As Aydan lowered his head to kiss me, a loud baby's cry echoed.
"Seriously? At this time?" Aydan pouted. I smirked, trying to hold back my laughter as I looked at his face.
"They called me, honey. See you!" Aydan kissed me briefly before heading to the living room.
"Your daddy's here, boys!"
I smiled as I watched Aydan playing with our twin boys. After I was confirmed pregnant, Aydan was the happiest person. He was always by my side, taking care of me and handling my unstable emotions. And after the birth of our children, he was the busiest taking care of them, not wanting me to tire myself out. Even though he was busy with his work, his love for me and our children never diminished.
"Just like he said. He's really a good husband and a good father," I murmured softly. Aydan looked at me with a smile.
"Psst!"
I, who was nearly drifting off while putting Danny and Daniel to sleep, instantly perked up upon hearing that whispered sound. I turned towards the door, squinting. Who else could it be if not Aydan?
"Hanna! Come out!" Aydan whispered, calling me. With cautious steps, I get out of from my twin children's bedroom.
"Yes, save!" Aydan said excitedly.
I placed a finger on my lips. With a mischievous smile, Aydan pulled out a handkerchief. I furrowed my brow. Without saying a word, he covered my eyes with it. Aydan grasped and pulled my hand.
"Where are we going?"
Aydan remained silent until his steps came to a halt. He uncovered my eyes with the handkerchief. I opened my eyes and was awestruck by the beautiful sight before me. The rooftop, once ordinary, had completely transformed.
The transformation was nothing short of magical. Neon lights in soft pink and romantic purple adorned the edges, casting a dreamy glow against the night sky. The air was filled with the sweet fragrance of fresh flowers, their petals strewn across the rooftop in an intricate pattern. In the center of the rooftop, there was a dining table set with colorful candles and two plates of steak.
"Do you like it?"
"Aydan, what... what is all this?" I stammered. Aydan turned to face me, a smile spreading across his face.
"Happy anniversary, my love," Aydan said, his voice filled with warmth and affection.
My expression change. Oh, my god. I forgot. Today is our anniversary. How could I forget? I'm seriously dead!
"Happy anniversary, Aydan. I thought you forgot about it," I pretended to remember. I didn't want to disappoint Aydan, who had gone through the trouble of organizing this event for me.
"You couldn't hide that face from me, Hanna. Obviously, you forgot our anniversary, didn't you?"
"I really can't hide anything from you, Aydan," I admitted. That's just how easily caught I am.
"Are you mad?" I asked, looking down, deliberately putting on a sad face to elicit sympathy.
Aydan laughed.
"It's fine. Let me do all the remembering. You just need to be by my side. That's more than enough for me."
I grinned from ear to ear.
"Let's eat," Aydan said, pulling out a chair for me to sit in.
"Thank you, husband," I teased.
"My pleasure, wife."
"Your favorite steak. I put more on your plate," Aydan said after cutting my steak. I clapped my hands. Excited. I put a piece in my mouth.
"Mmm, so good..." I closed my eyes, savoring the tender and delicious taste of the steak melting in my mouth.
"Is it that good?"
I nodded.
"Then I'll make it every day for you," Aydan said.
"Don't spoil me so much, Aydan, or you'll have a hard time."
"Nope. You're wrong here. The one who will have a hard time is not me. But you, Hanna." Aydan gave a naughty look.
"What's with that look? You will not eat me alive, are you?"
"You think?"
I let out a small scream as Aydan suddenly lunged towards me. Luckily, I was faster at saving myself. For a moment, we ran around the table, chasing each other.
"What are you doing? Come here."
"No, I'm not! You're going to eat me alive. I don't want to die!" I said, giggling. Aydan chased after me, and this time he caught me.
"Gotcha!" Aydan exclaimed triumphantly, his eyes sparkling with mischief and joy. He lifted me up in bridal style and spun around.
As Aydan spun me around, laughter bubbled up from deep within me, mingling with the rush of adrenaline coursing through my veins. His arms held me securely, and for a moment, it felt as though time had stood still, leaving just the two of us in our little world.
I couldn't help but smile up at him, feeling a surge of affection for the man who never failed to make me feel alive and loved. Despite the playful chase, there was a tenderness in his touch that spoke volumes, reminding me of just how lucky I was to have him by my side.
As he gently lowered me back to the ground, I leaned in close, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek.
“Looks like you caught me,” I teased, my heart overflowing with happiness.
Aydan grinned, his gaze softening as he looked into my eyes.
“And I wouldn't have it any other way," he replied, pulling me into a warm embrace.
After our playful moment, we lay on the rooftop with me nestled comfortably in Aydan's arms. I couldn't help but feel a profound sense of peace. Above us, the night sky stretched out in all its glory, adorned with countless stars twinkling like diamonds. Aydan pointed out constellations, his voice a gentle murmur in the quiet night air. Each time he spoke, I listened intently, captivated by his stories and the way his eyes sparkled with passion.
“Look, there's Orion,” Aydan said, his finger tracing the outline of the constellation against the dark canvas above us.
“Legend has it that Orion was a mighty hunter, but he met his match in the heavens.”
I followed his gaze, marveling at the beauty of the stars above. At that moment, surrounded by the warmth of Aydan's embrace and the vastness of the universe, I felt a sense of awe wash over me.
“It's beautiful,” I whispered, my voice barely above a hush.
We lay there in comfortable silence, the only sounds being the soft rustle of the wind and the distant hum of the city below. Aydan turned his face toward me. For a moment, we gazed into each other's eyes. Aydan gently caressed my cheek.
“I promise to love you forever, Hanna. Thank you for crying for me and for making me the luckiest man in this world.”
I smiled while stroking his cheek.
“The luckiest one is me. Thank you for completing my world, for keeping your promise, and for being the one who makes me smile every day,” I whispered, my voice filled with emotion. Aydan's eyes shimmered with unspoken love as he leaned in closer, his lips brushing against mine in a gentle kiss.
As we pulled away, I rested my head against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. In his arms, I felt safe, cherished, and deeply loved.
“What if we give our twin a sister?” Aydan narrowed his eyes and gave me a broad smile.
“What?” I laugh. Aydan pulled me into his embrace, and for a moment, we both laughed together. At that moment, surrounded by the warmth of his embrace and the echoes of our laughter, I knew that no matter what challenges life threw our way, as long as we faced them together, we would always come out stronger, united by a love that knew no bounds.Download Novelah App
