Chapter 14 CONFESSION?

"Where do we want to go?" Alan questioned as the car started leaving the bungalow's driveway. I didn't answer his question. Occasionally, I stole glances at Alan. I still couldn't believe how much his face resembled Dylan's. No wonder I had misunderstood when I first met Alan.
Looking at Alan's face, my longing for Dylan surged. Could it be possible for me to go back to the past? Could I meet Dylan in the future? Would he even remember me? Considering the long time that had passed, it wasn't impossible that Dylan already had grandchildren by now. Perhaps he was already married. Thinking about all this, tears welled up in my eyes. Slowly, I drifted into my memories with Dylan.
"Hanna?" Alan tapped my fingers, making me snap out of it. I looked at him bewilderedly. When did the car stop?
"You've been lost in thought. Are you okay?" Alan asked, gazing at me for a while. I was momentarily stunned before quickly averting my gaze. Alan's gaze somehow made my heart pound unevenly. I took a deep breath. What was wrong with me?
"Are you okay? Your face is red. Are you running a fever?" I quickly dodged when Alan raised his hand to my forehead. I noticed a change in his expression. Disappointment? I wasn't sure.
"I... I'm okay! I'm just... hot. Yeah, hot..." I tried to calm my racing heart.
"Really?" I nodded vigorously.
"Okay then. You haven't answered my question. Where do we want to go?" Alan asked with a straight face.
"Take me somewhere quiet where we can talk. It doesn't matter where. I need to talk to you about something." I answered seriously. I couldn't waste any more time. I had to find out about my mother and everything. Alan was my friend, and he had to know.
Alan responded with a nod. He then drove me to a park, fortunately not crowded. We found a seat facing the lake. Stepping into the place for the first time, I was momentarily stunned by the beauty of the lake. It felt peaceful. Maybe because it was still early in the morning, and the weather was perfect. I smiled, enjoying the beauty.
"Alan, you..." I turned towards Alan, meeting his gaze. My face blushed seeing Alan's gaze. Was he staring at me like that the whole time?! I swallowed nervously, twisting my gaze towards the lake.
"Alan, why were you looking at me like that?!" I pretended to be angry. Alan chuckled.
"Why? Falling in love with me?" Alan teased. I rolled my eyes.
"Do you want to die?" I threatened with my fist. Alan moved his eyebrows, amused.
"You, with or without memory, your behavior is still the same. Such a gangster," Alan commented with a smile that didn't leave his lips. I was stunned again. His smile was just like Dylan's. No, wake up, Hanna! Don't get distracted!
"What do you want to say to me?" Alan's question made me clear my throat. I constructed sentences in my head. Since the car ride, I had been considering being honest with Alan about who I really was. Considering our close relationship, I felt I could trust Alan with my secret, but I was still hesitant. On the other hand, if I could convince Alan of who I really was, maybe we could help each other, even though it might be impossible. Ah, I was confused.
"Hello? Are you okay?" Alan waved his hand in front of my face.
I nodded.
"Why have you been daydreaming since earlier?"
"Alan, I need you to listen to me carefully." I took a deep breath and exhaled.
"Yes, I hear you. What's up?" Alan tuned in.
"Actually, I have a lot of questions to ask you about my mom, my family, and everything. But before that, I need to tell you something." I could feel my hands trembling with nervousness. I couldn't imagine Alan's reaction.
"Yes, what is it?" Alan was eager.
"I... Actually, I didn't lose my memory." Alan's forehead creased, and then his eyes widened. "What?!" Alan's face showed extreme surprise.
"So, you lied to Tyler and me about losing your memory?" Alan's tone sounded betrayed.
"What? No! It's not like that. Listen carefully; I didn't lose my memory, but I don't know." Alan's forehead wrinkles deepened.
"How's that possible?" He responded, not understanding.
"Okay. Maybe you'll think I'm crazy. It's up to you to think whatever, but I'm not lying. I'm not the Hanna you know. How do I put this? Okay, I'm not the wealthy Hanna who has known you since childhood, whose parents are rich, and who lives in the year 2026 now. I am Hanna from the year 2023. I'm not rich like I am now. I mean, I wasn't born and didn't live in wealth like the Hanna, the one you know," I explained, twisting my words. Alan fell silent. It was hard for me to read his facial expression. Ah, he must think I'm crazy. Whatever.
"The story goes like this. I don't know how and why, but after I woke up, suddenly I was in the year 2002 in the body of a girl named Bella. I met Dylan there, and..." I continued to tell Alan without stopping until my story reached the point where I woke up in the year 2026.
"I know you must think I'm crazy now, but I'm not joking. Many things have changed, and you have to help me..." I looked at Alan, who seemed lost in thought. Was he even listening to my story?
"Alan? Are you okay? Why are you silent? Yes, I know I'm crazy. No need to hold back laughter. Laugh if you want," I made a sour face. Maybe he thought I was creating some kind of fantasy novel.
"Do you love Dylan?" Alan asked curiously. I nodded while taking a slow breath.
"Of course. But  Dylan loved Bella. I have to accept it," my eyes welled up. I wiped away the tears with the back of my hand.
"Because of that, I need a lot of time to accept Tyler. He's a good husband, but... I really need a lot of time to forget Dylan. Especially when you're here, Alan. Your face resembles Dylan's. It makes it even harder for me to forget him," I confessed again.
"I don't know if you believe me or not, but I've explained everything to you. It's up to you whether to believe it. Now, help me find my mom again. Let's go." I stood up and took a step. Then, I felt my hand being grabbed and pulled from behind. I was stunned. My movements froze.
"Forget Dylan and please fall in love with me, Hanna."
