It’s been a week since then. We were busy taking pictures of each other on different places and with different outfits that whole day.
Bryle brought me to an extravagant restaurant that has a beautiful view from the top. We just went there to waste money for a picture taking so I had thought of inviting him to eat. At first, he didn’t agree but I still convinced him at the end because I said that we could use the foods to say we were on a date. At least I got satisfied from our errand because I got full somehow.
We just didn’t stop at the restaurant that day. We also went on a road trip and to the beach. Even though we were only doing that for the pretend, I still enjoyed it because in the span of how many years, that was the only time I got to enjoy being free again. Free from the responsibilities that other teenagers still haven’t done.
In the span of one week, our plan finally completed. His and my phone is full of my photos and ours. He made me his wallpaper. It was a photo of me sleeping on my stomach while holding a pen and paper. I was really sleeping that time due to exhaustion that’s why I didn’t know that he took a photo of me. Meanwhile, I also made him my wallpaper. He was standing beside the piano while holding a guitar. He showed me his skills on playing different instruments. I was so stunned that I took a photo of him. We got to know each other well that day.
If Bryle’s room looked hunted and no colours before, now looks lively. We created a big portrait that has a vintage set-up photo of us and put it right on top of his headboard. We also have some photos in a small picture frames on top of his drawer. But Bryle said that it wasn’t enough so we also made a photo album of us that he put inside his drawer while mine is in my house.
On the third day I went back to his house, he introduced me to all of his personnel as his lover and they gladly accepted me. I even felt guilty because they accepted me genuinely while we are just fooling them to make the act more believable.
And about my mom’s operation, it’s already done and successfull. She finally came home. Starting from now onwards, she just have to take the medicines the doctor prescribed to her daily until she finally recovers. My dad on the other hand, got operated too. The doctors already amputated both of his legs therefore he couldn’t walk to his feet anymore but it’s okay to us as long as his fine now. We now made him avoid eating sweets so that his diabetes won’t come back again.
Bryle spent more than one hundred thousand for everything that’s why I’m really doing my best on the act.
Bryle came home to his parents last night to have dinner with them. But that wasn’t the only reason why he went there. He really intentionally wanted to have dinner there because he knew that his father would bring up about the marriage set up. Everything is already set that’s why he now wants to announce about us but until now, I still don’t have any news on what happened to their family dinner.
I called him last night and asked about it but he only said that he’s tired and we would talk about it today. I know he’s not lying because I can feel his tiredness from his voice. Maybe the outcome wasn’t good and they had a fight.
It’s already 11:23 in the morning and Sean and I are waiting for Bryle outside the school’s gate. Our professor announced that there’s no classes this afternoon because all the professors have a meeting about an event that would be held next week that’s why I had called Bright and asked him to pick us up and drive us to the restaurant.
While waiting for Bryle, I can’t stop feeling nervous. I feel nervous for a reason I could’t explain but I just let it be because Sean is with me and he would notice my uneasiness.
Minutes passed, Bryle comes with his black car. Sean jumps in excitement and immediately goes closer to the car right when Bryle comes out. I don’t know what’s up that Sean is so excited to go to work when there’s no event in the restaurant at all. The past few days, he’s always complaining that working in the restaurant is so tiring because there’s a lot of customers dining in. I don’t know what has gotten to my friend at all, I couldn’t understand his behavior.
“Bryle,” I call out Bryle’s name when he arrives in front of me.
“Why are you early today? I thought your class will end at four?” He asks and pulls me gently towards his car.
“Yeah, the teacher let us go early because they have a meeting,” I answer.
“Can I come in first, Bryle?” Sean suddenly asks and immediately gets in to the car.
Sean is literally imbecile. He didn’t even wait for Bryle to answer him and just get in. Bryle just shakes his head from Sean’s behavior. I’m now the one that got embarrassed from what he did.
“I’m sorry for his behavior, Bryle. I don’t know what has gotten to him today that he’s so excited to go to the restaurant,” I explain to him.
“It’s okay, don’t worry,” he says then looks at Sean from inside the car and back at me, “Can I talk to you for a second? I mean, a little bit far from Sean’s hearing?” He seriously says and I nod my head.
I knock at the window to get Sean’s attention and he immediately opens the window. “Can you stay and wait here for a while? Bryle and I are just gonna buy something in that store.” I couldn’t think of anything else to reason out so I just point at the store that is in front of the school’s gate.
He only nods his head and immediately turns his attention back to his phone. What is he doing with his phone that he doesn’t even give any care to what I’ve said?
I sigh and point the store to Bryle. He just nods his head and we immediately walk towards the store.
“What is it? Is it about what happened to your family dinner last night?” I ask him in a low voice so that no one can hear us. Thank goodness there’s no people near us.
“I guess, you can say that,” he says and sighs deeply, “I already announced our so-called relationship to them...”
“Let me guess, it didn’t end well?” I guess and he nods.
I thought so! His father won’t really agree of him having a relationship with someone else especially that his father and its friend has an agreement. It could ruin their friendship and the relationship of their company if the marriage won’t push through.
I also found out that the woman Bryle is supposed to marry has a liking towards him. Well, who wouldn’t fall in love with him if he’s that handsome? He’s like a character that came out from the book. That’s why he was being muddled outside the gate before because of his handsomeness. If only our situation is different right now, I would probably fall in love with him too.
“My dad wants me to break up with you as soon as possible before his business partner finds out but I refused,” he says, “My dad said that the girl is so persistent to get married with me,” he adds.
My forehead creases. That girl is literally desperate if that’s the case. Even though she knows that the guy doesn’t like her back, she’s still forcing herself to him. What will she get if Bryle would marry her when he doesn’t even love her and their marriage is only forced? If I were on her shoes, I wouldn’t strain myself on marrying Bryle because I know that I’m the only one that will get hurt at the end. I would rather choose marrying a guy that loves me dearly than marrying a guy that was only forced to marry me. If she knows her worth, then she would ask her father to not continue the marriage.
“She’s that desperate?” I ask even though I already know the answer to it.
“Yes,” he answers shortly, “Let’s talk about that some other time, can we? I have a more important thing to tell you than that,” he says.
“What is it?”
“My parents still doesn’t know you. They still don’t have any ideas about you as of the moment because I didn’t mention you last night other than telling them that I’m already in a relationship with someone for four months now. Just this morning, after I came home, my mom texted me saying that my dad wants to have lunch with me today to discuss about my relationship with that specific someone and so I have thought of a plan,” he explains. I didn’t say anything and just listen to everything he’s gonna say. “I agreed to her and told her to meet me at ‘Rose’s Special’—” I get shocked that’s why he haven’t finished what he’s saying.
“Why?!” I ask in panick.
He pinch both his eyebrows. “Calm down, okay. All you have to do is continue being a waiter while I’ll be there having lunch with them and yet at the same time I’ll be making some kinds of reactions towards you like I’m interested in you or something until they’ll notice it, okay?”
He’s really smart that he had thinked of a plan like that. He’s really determined to stop his father while I’m feeling nervous of this plan.
I nod. “O-Okay...”
“Good. Give your best.”
