“Oh my god, Theo? Is that you?” Cara’s voice cracked as she realized her best friend was alive. Ashton looked at his wife and was puzzled by her reaction. He opted to keep quiet and let Cara finish her conversation with Theo. “Okay, okay. Let’s meet in the maze.” She ended the call and sat on the edge of the bed.
Cara looked in Ashton’s direction. She finally decided to tell Ashton what had happened. “Theo, he saved us both.” She paused and Ashton sat beside her, encouraging her to explain more. “Thomas, well he tried to kill me with a wand, but Theo threw himself at me to protect me.” Cara’s eyes were filled with tears as she recalls that incident.
“What? Thomas did that to you?” Ashton stood up and clenched his fist. His blood boiled after hearing that from Cara. “So he ended up killing his own son, huh? Talk about karma.” He muttered with disdain.
Cara held Ashton’s hand. “Well, as Theo was gasping for his last breath he did something which seemed I’ve never seen before.” Cara was trying to find the right words to describe it to her husband.
Ashton felt chills all over his body. “Do you mean his last breath of life? He gave it to me?” He asked Cara who did not really know how to call what she saw but hearing it from Ashton it was the perfect way to describe it.
“Exactly! He transferred it to you and you suddenly gasped for air and then he stopped breathing.” Cara explained what had happened to Ashton. “How did you know about that thing?” Cara asked Ashton.
“I will leave that for Theo to explain.” He smiled at Cara. It was obvious that he knew more about it. It just stirred Cara’s curiosity all the more. 
“Do you think it is safe to meet with Thomas?” She was a little hesitant, her trust with him just dropped to zero at this point in time. “I mean he just tried to kill me.” She added.
Ashton wrapped his arms, providing warmth around Cara. “It is safe. Theo and I are with you.” He said and kissed Cara’s forehead.
Cara felt Ashton’s bare body against her. “You need some clothes.” Cara commented to Ashton.
Ashton agreed and stood up. He extended his hand to Cara. She accepted it and interlocked their hands together. “Let’s go home then.” He said in a low voice and gave Cara a reassuring smile.
While walking, Cara squeezed Ashton’s hand. “You have so many things to explain to me, too. Don’t feel so easy with me.” She squinted her eyes towards Ashton.
Ashton kissed the back of Cara’s hand and answered. “I know. I’m sorry, but I am not sorry that I kept it from you.” He answered without a filter.
Cara’s eyes grew bigger as she stopped in her tracks. She could not believe that Ashton was not even sorry for pretending and lying to her. “Did you mean what you said just now?” She asked Ashton again and retracted her hand from him. She placed her hand on her hips, waiting for a more valid reason from him. 
“I did that to protect you. And even if you hate me or kill me because of what I did, I will accept it whole heartedly babe, after all, at the end of the day my goal is to be able to protect you and to always be by your side.” He said with a heartfelt sincerity.
Cara took a deep breath and asked the question that was bothering her the most. “How long since you’ve been free from my compulsion?”
Ashton looked directly at Cara’s eyes and answered in a low voice. “I noticed it first, after the incident on the cliff.” He admitted to Cara.
Cara thought if it, she blushed as she recalled their intimate moment in the cave. She shook her head to think of other events that transpired during that time. “Oh, that was the first time I thought I died. I saw my family and found out about Amara.” She said, as if she was enlightened.
Ashton nodded his head. “Yeah, perhaps it is your rebirth of some sort. Or it could also be that it was the time I realized my true feelings for you.” He said in a low voice. Cara kept quiet as she doubted Ashton’s love for her was genuine right from the start.
They reached their home, and Ashton immediately changed his clothes. Cara sat on the bedside chair, observing Ashton’s every move. It was as if she was studying him.
“Yes, love?” Ashton asked Cara who was startled when Ashton suddenly spoke. “I can’t figure out that look. Is that ‘I want to eat you look’ in a good or bad way?” He cheekily asked Cara.
Cara hissed and pouted her lips. “I just want to be sure that you are fully healed and recovered.” She answered her stubborn husband.
Ashton took a deep breath and looked at Cara straight in the eyes. “To be honest, I’ve been feeling differently since I woke up.” He said in a serious tone.
Cara walked towards Ashton. She wanted to check his condition. A servant coming back to life is completely unheard of and she is not aware of any side effects Ashton might be experiencing. She placed the back of her hand on Ashton’s forehead. “How are you feeling? Are you in any kind of pain?” She asked multiple questions that Ashton could not answer.
He just smiled at Cara. His deep dimples still bring so many feelings to Cara. Her stomach flipped just seeing that sexy grin on his face. “This is so unfair.” She thought to herself as she felt that burning desire to wrap him around her arms right this very moment.
Ashton pulled Cara so close to him she can feel every hard part of Ashton’s body. Likewise, he can feel the soft curves of Cara that made him feel more alive. “I feel a ball of energy deep inside me. I can’t quite explain it but, is it strange if I tell you I don’t feel a hundred percent human?” He explained and rested his hands on Cara’s hips.
“I do. I’ve felt that since my twenty-first birthday.” Cara confessed to Ashton. But her mind is not totally on their topic, as their current position is making it hard for her to focus. Her heart beats stronger and louder than Ashton’s hands gripped her behind tightly.
“We don’t have time for this, Ashton. Thomas and Theo will arrive any moment now.” She slightly pushed Ashton away from her.
Ashton rested his head on Cara’s head as he heaved a deep sigh. He held Cara’s face and gave her lips a quick peck. Ashton pulled away from Cara and whispered. “You don't know how much I am holding back to not rip your dress from you right now, love”
