Chapter 31 Unspoken Bonds

Javier found himself sitting in the bustling canteen, lost in his own thoughts. Suddenly, a familiar voice broke through the chatter, pulling him back to reality. It was Alexandrea, the one person he least expected to see.
"Hi, Javier!" she greeted him, her voice filled with a mix of nervousness and hope.
Startled, Javier couldn't help but let his guard up. He remembered all too well how Alexandrea had shattered his brother's heart, leaving behind a trail of broken promises and shattered dreams.
"What do you want? Why are you here?" he asked, his voice laced with a hint of bitterness.
A flicker of sadness crossed Alexandrea's face as she tried to gauge his emotions. "Are you mad at me?" she ventured, her voice tinged with vulnerability.
A surge of anger rose within Javier, his heart still raw from the pain his brother had endured. "Mad at you? Yes, I am," he replied, his words dripping with resentment.
Confusion clouded Alexandrea's eyes as she searched for answers. "Why?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Javier's gaze hardened as he confronted her, his voice filled with a mix of frustration and hurt. "Why did you do that?" he questioned, his words heavy with accusation.
Caught off guard, Alexandrea's eyes widened in disbelief. "Did what?" she asked, her voice trembling with uncertainty.
Javier's frustration grew, his words sharp and piercing. "Why did you break up with Ian?" he demanded, his voice filled with a mix of anger and longing for an explanation.
"You knew all along, didn't you? You were aware that my love for you surpassed anything he could offer," she confessed, her voice filled with a mixture of desperation and longing.
Javier's eyes narrowed, his anger intensifying with each passing moment. "Yes, I knew, but I can't give what you want to happen - I can't do that to Ian, he's my brother," he retorted, his words laced with a fiery rage that burned within him.
A wave of realization washed over Alexandrea, extinguishing the flames of her vengeful desires. In that moment, she knew that her grand plan had crumbled to dust, leaving no room for revenge against Javier.
As the tension thickened, a new presence emerged from the shadows. It was Jan Mae, casting a concerned gaze upon Alexandrea and Javier, sensing the turmoil that enveloped them.
Javier's awareness of Jan Mae's arrival jolted him into action. With a gesture of protection, he stood up and placed his arm around Jan Mae's shoulder, seeking solace in her presence.
"Now, if you have nothing positive to say, it's best for you to depart," Javier declared, his voice resonating with authority and a hint of frustration, causing heads to turn and eyes to widen. Even Jan Mae herself was taken aback by the sudden revelation.
Curiosity piqued, Alexandrea couldn't help but inquire, "Who is she?" Her voice tinged with a mix of disbelief and defeat.
"My girlfriend!" Javier proclaimed, his words echoing through the canteen, capturing the attention of everyone present. Jan Mae herself stood there, stunned by the unexpected revelation.
Realizing that her chances of victory had dwindled to nothingness, Alexandrea gathered her belongings and quietly slipped away from the canteen, her hopes shattered like fragments of a broken dream.
Inquisitively, Jan Mae questioned Javier's motive, her eyes searching for an explanation. "Why did you tell that to her?" she asked, her voice filled with curiosity and concern.
Javier's response was swift and resolute. "I wanted her to cease her pursuits," he explained. "She's the one who shattered my brother's heart, as I've mentioned to you before."
A flicker of understanding passed through Jan Mae's eyes as she connected the dots. "Ah, so she's the Alexandrea you spoke of," she remarked, her tone laced with empathy.
"Yes," Javier confirmed, a tinge of remorse coloring his words. "I apologize for the situation, but I felt compelled to make her depart, so I resorted to telling her that you are my girlfriend."
Jan Mae's response was understanding and forgiving. "No need to apologize. I understand," she reassured him, her voice gentle and accepting.
Javier's curiosity piqued as he realized there was more to Jan Mae's presence than he initially knew. "You never mentioned that you were studying here," he remarked, his tone filled with surprise.
A faint smile graced Jan Mae's lips as she clarified, "I'm not actually studying here. I'm only here to support my brother."
Curiosity sparked within Javier as he sought to unravel the connection between Jan Mae and her presence at the school. "Your brother?" he inquired, his voice filled with intrigue.
Jan Mae nodded, a warm smile gracing her features. "Indeed, my dear brother Ethon," she confirmed. "He has recently embarked on his journey here, and I simply wanted to check in on his progress and well-being."
Javier's curiosity deepened as he delved further into the conversation. "Ah, so he's pursuing a career in law?" he questioned, his voice tinged with admiration.
A sense of pride emanated from Jan Mae as she affirmed his assumption. "Yes, that is his fervent aspiration," she revealed. "He dreams of becoming a formidable lawyer, fighting for justice and making a difference."
As Jan Mae caught sight of her brother approaching, a sense of urgency washed over her. "Oh, there he is. I must be on my way," she informed Javier, a hint of regret in her voice. "We'll see each other again next time."
Javier watched as Jan Mae and her brother exited the canteen, engaged in a lively conversation. His gaze lingered on them for a moment before turning his attention back to his surroundings.
Regret washed over Javier as he realized that once again, he had forgotten to ask Jan Mae for her contact information, leaving him with no means of reaching out to her in the future. It was as if the opportunity had slipped through his fingers like grains of sand, leaving him with a sense of missed connection.
With a determined resolve, Javier whispered to himself, "Next time!" He acknowledged that he could simply approach Ethon, Jan Mae's brother, to inquire about her contact information. It was like finding a key to unlock the door of opportunity, allowing him to bridge the gap and establish a connection with Jan Mae.
