Chapter 21 The Hopeful Heart

A year later, Javier's brother, Ian, joined him in the Academy of Justice, forming a dynamic duo of law students.
Ian's jaw dropped as he spotted Alexandrea walking through the halls of the Academy of Justice. He couldn't believe his eyes. She was the spitting image of her twin sister, Andrea.
He immediately called Javier and pointed to Alexandrea. "Is that Andrea?" he asked.
"Nope, that's her twin sister, Alexandrea Torres," Javier replied.
"She looks exactly like her," Ian said, still stunned.
"Yeah, she does," Javier agreed. "But she's a completely different person."
Ian was intrigued. He had always been curious about Andrea, but she had never given him the chance to get to know her. Alexandrea seemed more approachable, so he decided to take a chance.
"Hey, Alexandrea," he said, walking up to her. "My name is Ian. I'm Javier's brother."
Alexandria smiled. "It's nice to meet you, Ian," she said. "I've heard a lot about you."
Ian and Alexandrea started talking, and he quickly realized that Javier was right. She was nothing like Andrea. She was warm, friendly, and funny. They talked for hours, and by the end of the day, Ian felt like he had known her his whole life.
Over the next few weeks, Ian and Alexandrea spent a lot of time together. They studied together, went out to lunch together, and even went to a few movies together. Ian was completely smitten with her. He had never met anyone like her before.
Javier watched from afar as his brother, Ian, chatted with Alexandrea. He couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy, even though he knew that she was Andrea's twin sister, and not his ex-girlfriend.
It was ironic, really. Javier had always been jealous of Andrea's close relationship with her sister. He had always felt like he was the third wheel, and that Alexandrea was always coming between them. But now that he was the one who was dating Alexandrea, he couldn't help but feel threatened by the close bond that she shared with his brother.
Javier knew that his jealousy was irrational. Ian was a good guy, and he would never do anything to hurt him. But he couldn't shake the feeling that Alexandrea was somehow slipping away from him.
He watched as Ian made Alexandrea laugh. She threw her head back and let out a carefree giggle. Javier's heart clenched. He remembered the way Andrea used to laugh. It was the same exact laugh.
Javier felt like a stranger in his own life. He was surrounded by people he loved, but he felt completely alone. He was trapped in a prison of his own making, and the only key was Alexandrea.
But how could he ask her to choose between him and her brother?
Javier sighed and turned away. He couldn't bear to watch them talk any longer. He needed to get some space and clear his head.
Javier slumped against the trunk of the tree, his laptop balanced on his knees. He checked his email for the umpteenth time, but there was still no response from Andrea.
He felt a wave of disappointment wash over him. He had been so hopeful that she would reply to his email, but it seemed like he was wrong.
Javier had been trying to get in touch with Andrea for weeks now, but she had been completely unresponsive. He had sent her emails, and called her phone, but she had never answered.
Javier didn't know what to do. He was starting to lose hope.
He closed his laptop and sighed. He didn't know how much longer he could take this. He missed Andrea so much, and he just wanted to talk to her again.
He looked up at the sky. It was a beautiful day, but Javier couldn't enjoy it. All he could think about was Andrea.
He closed his eyes and imagined her face. Her smile, her eyes, her laugh. He missed everything about her.
He took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down. He needed to be patient. Andrea would come around eventually.
He opened his eyes and looked at his laptop again. He decided to give her one more try. He typed a new email, and this time, he poured his heart out to her.
He told her how much he missed her and how much he loved her. He begged her to give him another chance.
He hit send and waited.
Javier's mind was a whirlwind of memories as he sat under the tree, lost in thought. He could still see Andrea's face, her smile, her eyes. It had been years since he had seen her, but it felt like just yesterday that they were together.
Suddenly, he was interrupted by the sound of voices. He looked up and saw Alexandrea and Ian approaching him.
"Hey, Javier," Ian said. "Want to join us?"
"Where?" Javier asked.
"Anywhere," Ian said. "We're just going to enjoy the rest of the day before heading back to our condo."
Javier hesitated. He wasn't really in the mood to socialize, but he didn't want to be rude.
"Maybe next time," he said finally. "I'm kind of in the mood to be alone."
Alexandrea smiled. "No worries," she said. "We understand."
She and Ian turned to leave, but then Alexandrea paused and looked back at Javier.
"You know," she said, "if you ever need to talk, I'm here for you."
Javier's heart warmed. He knew that Alexandrea was a good person, and he appreciated her offer.
"Thanks," he said. "That means a lot."
Alexandrea smiled again and then followed Ian away.
Javier watched them go, his mind still racing. He didn't know what the future held for him, but he did know that he wasn't alone. He had Alexandrea and Ian, and he knew that they would be there for him, no matter what.
Javier's eyes drifted shut as he waited for Andrea's reply. He was exhausted from all the waiting, but he couldn't bring himself to sleep just yet. He needed to know if she would give him another chance.
He closed his eyes and imagined her face. She was smiling at him, her eyes sparkling with love. He could almost feel her touch, her soft skin against his.
He felt a wave of hope wash over him. Maybe she would reply after all. Maybe she would forgive him for his mistakes.
He opened his eyes and checked his email again. But there was still no message from Andrea.
Javier sighed and leaned back in his chair. He felt his eyelids getting heavy again. He was so tired.
He decided to just close his eyes for a few minutes. He would wake up when Andrea replied.
But when he woke up, it was hours later. The sun was setting, and his email inbox was empty.
Javier sat up and rubbed his eyes. He couldn't believe that he had fallen asleep. He had missed Andrea's reply.
He checked his email again, but there was still nothing. He felt a pang of disappointment. He had been so hopeful, but now his dreams were shattered.
He didn't know what to do. He had lost the love of his life, and he didn't know how to move on.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He knew that he needed to be strong. He needed to find a way to pick up the pieces of his life and start over.
But it was going to be hard.
