Sunday came in quickly and when it was evening time, Gary and Joan set for Julian’s place. When Flora asked about where they were going, they told her to Julian’s place, but didn’t mention the real reason because they knew she would not approve of it. Gary and Joan were in a cab and they sat there quiet almost all the way to the place, Gary would sometimes look at his daughter and whenever he wants to say something, nothing seems to be coming out of his mouth so he’ll just sigh and look the window. “Having second thoughts already?” she asked after a while. Gary turned to look at her, but she wasn’t looking at him, so he sighed again and then took her hand in his. “Darling, if you don’t want us to go, then I can just call him and we will have this meeting called off,” he told her and she looked at her dad, she was going to say something but he beat her to it. “We could seek other means to solve the pending issues at hand,” he said. “Dad,” she smiled, then placed her other hand on his. “Thank you dear, I don’t know how I should appreciate your understanding of things,” he said to her with a smile on his lips. “You don’t have to thank me, I am just doing what any child would want to do for their parents,” she looked out the window, and just then, the cab stopped. “I will fight for my dad’s company,” she smiled. “We’re here,” the cabman announced. They got out of the car and Joan paid their fare. They both stood in front of an enormous gate, looked at each other, then walked closer to the gate. ... Camila rolled her eyes when Henry brought in some flowers and chocolate. He had been making frequent trips to the café in hopes of seeing Joan and apologizing, and whenever Joan wasn't there to tell him off, she ignored him and just go on with her work. “Please when will I be able to see Joan, my love?” Henry asked trying to smile at her. Camila sighed then looked at him with a bored look “When will you finally tell your stupid, down-graded, selfish self that she isn’t interested in you anymore?” she asked with a roll of her eyes. “It can’t be possible, I and Joan love each other, we promised ourselves forever” “That was before you decided to be a douche and cheat on her,” she frowned “Like do you expect her to just forget that you cheated on her and even dared to blame her for letting you cheat just because you couldn’t put your body in one place,” she said. “Well, yes. I made a mistake and I am owning up to it like a man, why does she have to be so hard and act like it was a big deal, I just cheated once and that’s it. She has my time, I have hers and I will not do it again” he said to her. Camila’s nose flared and she cursed at him in Spanish then held up a spatula at him. “You should be happy I am not in the mood to show you ‘never to mess with a Hispanic family’ Be glad that I am not in the mood for that or you’ll have to call in a hospital before I decide your fate right now” she spat angrily at him and with how she flared up at him, he felt a little scared by her but he didn’t want to show that to her. “I will be back for my love and you’ll see that she will take me back because we are meant for each other and no one can come in between us,” he said then took the chocolates and flowers he brought with him. Camila looked at him in annoyance and hissed then shook her head as she thanked GOD that her friend made a good choice in dumping him because, they can’t just work, with his kind of attitude and arrogance. “You made the right choice babe” she spoke under her breath then continued with what she was doing. ... Julian welcomed Gary and Joan when his security informed him about their arrival. “Welcome, please make yourself comfortable, this is your home,” he said to them, then told the maid to bring them some refreshments. “Thank you Julian” Gary smiled then looked around the white-painted interior of the house with gold-colored curtains and window frames before looking back at him. “Nice interior” he commends and Julian looks around proudly. “My wife has great taste” he grinned proudly. “She does sir” Joan agreed and he beamed in delight then he leaned forward. “Thank you dear, and I appreciate that you considered the agreement I and your dad had and came here to finalize it, it means a lot to me, and don’t worry, my son isn’t much of trouble, he’s pretty grumpy but you’ll love his company” he assured her. “Uh… sir, about th-” she was interrupted by the loud voice of a young man who was walking down the stairs as he talked on the phone. All heads turned to him as he talked, not minding if there was anyone around him. Joan’s eyes went wide open when she saw Santiago talking on the phone. “Behave yourself Santiago, I don’t want you messing this up” his dad muttered under his breath when he came closer to him. He smiled at Gary who was smiling and Joan who looked as shocked as Santiago. “This is my son, Santiago. Santiago, I want you to meet Gary Anderson and-” “Hey babe” he interrupted his dad then went over to Joan who hadn’t gotten over the shock of seeing him and engulfed her in a hug. It was like he had a switch that changed his look of shock to something more welcoming and warm. “This is the part where we act like real couples in front of our parents” he whispered into her ear when she didn’t look like she would recover from the shock anytime soon. Joan recomposed herself then straightened her back and leaned into the hug, her arms hugged his torso and she managed a smile. He felt warm and she wanted to stay in his arms for a really long time when he parted from the hug, she had to reluctantly release her hold on him and resist a pout. Santiago smiled as he put his hand around her waist and drew her closer to himself, he looked at their confused dads and then said something that shook them both. “Dad, meet Joan Anderson, my fiancée”
