“All the goods were all ready, Mom.” She smiled. 
“The goods are ready to be served.” Her mom slightly nudged her using her waist. She managed to carry the heavy bowls on both of her hands. Shinai was awed on how her mother was able to managed that. 
“You are carrying yourself with grace, Mom. Like Princess Tiana.” She was smiling while she stared at her mother who is all smile as she began to arrange the napkins on the table. 
“This is beautiful, Mom. Thank you.” She went to gave her mom a kiss on her cheek. “I’ll get that one from the microwave oven.” She said with enough enthusiasm of helpfulness in her as she went towards the other side of their kitchen counter. 
“Thanks deary!” Her mother chirped. 
Then the sound of the doorbell came. Something buzzed too. Nai stopped herself from pulling tray. Her eyes went big. And she hurried her pace. She pulled the tray out and placed it at the counter top. She looked at her mother and smiled. “I’ll get it.” 
Heartbeat racing, she pranced hurriedly towards the front door. She leaned in to take a small peak on the small patch placed in the side of the door. From a far she knows it it him because of his physique. She opened and and went towards the gate. She saw Edon. And he was carrying a big teddy-bear. 
“A very huggable teady bear.” She muttered under her breathe as she stared at Jordan whose head is tilting onto the side of the bear just to look at their gate. His eyes lit and his big warm smile came out once his eyes reached hers. 
Shinai couldn’t stopped smiling too. Their eyes held its contact. No one seems to want to let go of their gazes. Edon went to held the bears hand and made it wave at her. She smiled until a chuckling sound came out of her mouth. She was laughing when she opened the gate for Edon to enter. 
“Hi!” Edon said it. And he was having difficulty in speaking even his simple “Hi”. 
“You’re words our coming with a slight gasking. Did you run on your way here?” Nai asked. She noticed his voice and the breathiness out of him. Edon only smiled and shake his head, not accepting what she assumed he had done. 
“Edon.” She said it a sing-song voice. It was gentle. She made it really soft and gentle. It was gentle enough to put a baby to sleep. It was a tone of a mother cuddling her child in her arms. But the fact still remains, and it is that Nai wasn’t successful in mimicking it. 
“Did you run?” She asked him once again. 
Edon started nodding with such high energy. He’s nodding was having a speed too. “For you.” He handed the big bear he was holding. He handed it to Shinai with his lip showing his gentle smile paired with a gentle gaze. He was making sure he was able to hand it to her with tender care, making sure Nai will be able to hold it as it is. 
Shinai received what was being handed to her with enough carefulness too. She smiled at Edon. “Thank you.” She answered him. 
Their heads went towards the front door when both of them heard Nai’s mother. She was calling her name. Nai and Edon both saw her when she neared towards the door with her eyes squinting a little. 
“Nai dear, who is that?” She went towards the door, moving herself a bit to see. Once she saw Edon’s familiar face, she stopped squinting. With her wide eyes that is on dsiplay now, she moved her hand gesturing them to come in. “Oh dear, come on it. Come inside.” She smiled, and it was a smile that is welcoming. 
Shinai closed the gates. Edon was looking at her; he was waiting. And both of them started walking towards the front door to enter. 
“Good evening, Auntie.” Edon greeted Nai’s mother. 
Nai’s mom nodded her head at him. “Good evening too, dear. We a small feast prepared inside. Come on in.” 
Nai’s mom went directly towards the kitchen and both of the two remained on the living room. Nai gestured Edon to take a seat as she placed the bear on its seat, putting it on the cushion. Edon went to position himself on the other seat. 
“Nai dear, take Edon with you so both of you can eat now.” It came from Nai’s mom; her voice echoed. 
Nai smiled at Edon. He was staring too. He was gazing at her face with such intent of not wanting to look away. His lip moved; he smiled back. With both of their eyes meeting each other, they don’t need no words to come out of their mouths as both understand what Nai’s eyes was speaking as she stared at him. And what Edon’s response is as he looked at her. The two then went to the kitchen. 
“You can take your pick, dear.” Nai’s mom was looking at Edon. She was happily smiling. She was happy to make him choose anything he wanted on the table. 
“It’s okay, Auntie.” Edon replied. “I am fine. I am still full. But I would like to compliment how the foods looked really delicious. I would like to compliment the arragement too. It’s appealing, eye-catching.” Edon added. 
“Quite a flatterer. Thank you, dear.” Nai’s mom responded. She checked on Edon again. “But are you sure you don’t want to eat? Well-we have some desserts here. Delectables. “ She pointed the sweets and cookies. 
“No, its okay Auntie. Thank you. I came here because I wanted to bring Nai a teddy bear as my New Year’s gift.” 
Nai’s mom was smiling. “Really?” Her eyes twinkled. And her smile, she was really smiling. Streching her smile as she looked at her daughter with a glint in her eyes. She smiled wide before her eyes went back on Edon. “How sweet of you to bring Nai a gift, Edon. I am sure Nai likes it. Nai likes gift, dear. Especially when it…”
“Mom!” Nai’s voice came to interrupt her mother’s speech. Her eyes went big. “How about let’s bring Mommy Mel some packed foods. Can we, Mom? I am sure Mommy Mel would love that.” Nai was placing a force smile. She was trying to stir the conversation towards another direction. 
Her mother smiled in return. “You’re right dear. You’ll bring your grandmother what we have here, Edon. I’ll get the containers so you can bring it home with you.”
