Chief Lord Ozomena had hear enough, he was not going to take chances, in masked up rage, he rang the bell for emergency calls before he removed his hand five men were already at his side, trying to hide his feeling, he spoke softly to the men.
"Get this lunatic back to her cage and get her food please"
Understand his instructions, one of the men closed her jaw gently but firmly and moved her out of the room, at the door,an infuriated Pamela glanced into the face of Chief Osagie with her sealed lips and tears flowing down her cheeks, He was staring incredulously at her, she looked sternly at Chief Lord Ozomena, well loathed and detested, he was wearing a hard countenance as he glared contemptuously at her.
"An eye for an eye".
Back at Pamela home, Mr Phillips household who never given a second thought to Pamela nightmare five years ago had just started thinking of it since Pamela disappearance to an unknown camp some days and a weeks ago, the home situation was tense and the children hardly spoke except in whispers, Mrs Phillips took to nagging, shouting, complaining and snapping at every one, David and Evelyn got the worst of these treatment home was unhappy place for them to stay in. Mr Phillips who was just recently appointment at a state Board members he had to do this in order to attend to his regular job, the period became very trying for him.
Mrs Phillips after receiving a bang from her child on the other end of the line stared with fascination and awe, shocked to the marrow of her bone that her body could be so churlish.
" Pamela could have been so exuberant about going to a camp to read," she thought, she waited patiently for the arrival of her baby, whom she sure was not so wild as to defy her orders which were so clearly made.
To her dismay, Pamela did not return home even after a day, two days three days, and more, Mrs Phillips furiously accepted the fact that she had grown wings, "Pamela definitely would come home at the end of the first week, then she would have to pay for being so daring as to ignore my order" thought her mother, biting her lower lip and thinking of how she was going to put some sense into the head of her defiant child.
A week and four days passed, Pamela had not come back home, at the juncture, Mrs Phillips could not no longer bear her fear, Helter Skelter, she ran not knowing where to find her child, the fear that her Pamela dream might be coming true chased Mrs Phillips to look for her child in her school, she started nursing the idea that a spiritual beings had taken control of Pamela considering the insolence with which she had screamed back at her on the phone, "that is for you! can not take that instruction" as the memories floated back, Mrs Phillips got angrier.
Her daughter way of getting any thing was by being submissive and not being violent or saucy , the girl was getting out of hand, maybe a boarding house was not a nice idea after all, with some amount of courage, she approached the chief house mistress in charge of other house mistress was not really helpful, she directed Mrs Phillips to Pamela hostel "Okun House".
There she was able to get some information, which weakened her at the hostel, her suspicion on the activity of a nocturnal being controlling her child was confirmed when she heard of how Pamela disappeared at the early morning before their departure to the camp without lunch and spent a long time in an open field alone.
Pamela was said to have returned very late looking drowsy and worn out, she told no one of her experiences armed with the address of chief Osagie house, Mrs Phillips wandered hither and thither trying to locate the place.
Finally, when she got to the chief might gate , she glanced at her attire and imagined how drained and haggard she was looking, she felt odd and out of place standing outside the magnificent gate, Nonetheless, her daughter where about was primary to her though she was not sure of how to conduct her enquiry, as she approached the gate man looked at her with obvious distaste she could not imagine why.
"Yes? What! he asked rudely, typical of his level of civility.
"Sir, I am looking for Chief Osagie "
Mockingly he asked, "Are you a relative to the house help or the night soil man?"
This was an insult! Mrs Phillips,a graduate in the field of Economic Education never thought that one day anyone would insult her this way but on a closer look, she smiled in spite of herself the gate man was reeking of alcohol!
She simply stood here perspiring under the midday sun and felt like slapping life out of the drunk what could she possibly discuss with him, gladly she heard a strange voice order imperiously .
"Mike, will you open the gate and let in the stranger whoever he or she might be and stop insulting the person!"
Like a sulking, child, Mike let in Mrs Phillips, "Thanks you sir" she said to Chief Osagie who she immediately recognized as his poster were over the city walls at a time during his political rally.
Mrs Phillips having gained her composure explained who she is, although Chief Osagie could not really place the particular child she was referring to but he had a vague idea, what shocked him most was the description made by Mrs Phillips about the girl, she bore the same resemblance with the girl at Chief Lord Ozomena house whom the Chief called a lunatic,
Until now chief Osagie had never been bothered himself about the incident but now his mind strayed to it, a frown settled on his face as he thought everything over.
Mrs Phillips noticed agitated she asked.
"Please sir, is there anything wrong with her?"
Chief Osagie know that revealing what he was thinking about would send the crazy so he smiled broadly.
"Oh nothing, I was just thinking about er... about a convenient arrangement for the party, you see.. I promise to organize a party for them three days from now"
"Oh --! May I come to get her then" enquired Mrs Phillips hopefully, immensely relieved.
Chief Osagie was not sure but just to get her out of the way so that he could start sorting things out, he answered, "Yes".
Mrs Phillips joy know no bounds as she went back home thanking God, even at the gate post she forgot about the gateman earlier rudeness and bade him good bye.
After her departure, Chief Osagie know that some thing was wrong, the child certainly could not be demented he had to check the children in the school where they had gone to study, however he recalled how the girl at Chief Lord Ozomena house had looked hopefully into his eyes, he had a picture of her in his memory what a beautiful growing child and his niece? Oh ! He knows very well that' Chief Lord Ozomena was not to be trusted, he was a sly man of course something had to be done and soon too, but what it would be was one question that Chief Osagie could not find an answer to at that moment.
