Alicia POV
The heel on my stilettos made a sound each step I took on this cold tiled ground. I held my breathe from taking in the stench of all these criminals that were being thrown into jail for some particular period of time.
I went straight to the officer who had arrested Beatriz an hour ago or two.... Somewhere there about, was to busy laughing to had even realize the time she was arrested.
"I'm here to see Mrs Beatriz" I said, flashing those teeth that I had just got whitened for this particular reason.... Smiling actually makes you younger.
"Mrs Beatriz?" He said lifting a questioning brow, "are you here in place of her family cause I just spoke with Damon and he said none of his family members will be bailing her out, they have even made that clear to the judge"
"Oh.... I am not here for that at all, infact I am only concerned as to how she is coping, I don't want to go against Damon's wishes" I said as my smile grew wider, I just can't believe Damon is really bent on abandoning his mother.
"If that's so you can go visit her" he said before pointing at the area Beatriz was locked in.
The eerie feeling I felt when I saw Beatriz looking tattered with her hair loose and her makeup smudged. It's just been two hours and she is already looking this hideous, if I wasn't going to be marrying Damon very soon I might've just shown a bit of compassion and tried to get her out of there Immediately cause this isn't the life for her but then again shouldn't a wife support her husband with every decision that he makes?
Seeing me standing and staring at her, Beatriz got up and held the iron bars before trying to poke her head out of it, "Thank you Alicia, thank you so much.... I knew you would come bail me out, I really don't know who had framed me for this but I can't find that out if am being stuck here..... What of Damon? Where is he? Xander?" She looked around me for any of her beloved sons but none had followed me, "Are they abandoning me?" She wept.
The response I would've given her was yes and that I was her only hope as of now but how can I give a person hope when I am the one who locked her behind bars by framing her, and besides Xander was on his way, he's a little late because he is trying to hire the best lawyer he can find, one that can beat Damon's lawyers but no one has been wanting to take up Beatriz's case because of Damon doesn't approve it.
"Come on Beatriz don't cry like that...." I tried to console her, "especially in front of me, you going to make me feel bad for....." I moved closer so she could hear what to say next, "framing you"
"How dare you?!" She yelled which caused a stare among the police officers and criminals awaiting their judgement. "Why would you do that? We were a team, I was trying to get you together with my son...."
"How can you say that we are a team when you blackmailed me into giving you half of my wealth just when I was feeling vulnerable and besides you had two attempt to fulfill our deal and then you failed in those two occasion, now tell me if I would want to keep teaming up with a loser..... Even that surrogate was able to make progress in six months than I made in four years" I banged on the iron bars to make an impact with the words I had said but ended up hurting myself.
I winced in pain as the effect retracted back into my hand.
"Anyway your being here was my only ticket to being with Damon, he met with and offered a proposition that if I give him details on how you are connected to Priscilla's mother death and Rachel's murder then he will give me the wedding that I solely deserve....."
Beatriz eyes had squinted when I said this, like in a way she was trying to analyse something, "Alicia for someone who studied law, you are dumb!" She said promptly and it took me off guard.
If words were to hurt this would've given me a fatal damage, "I am dumb but at least I am not locked up like you are" I replied feeling pleased with my response only for Beatriz to start laughing.
"You still don't get it, do you?" Beatriz shook her head, "I'll wait till your head figure that one out or maybe when you are being dragged here with hand cuffs like I was then we won't be any different from each other"
I still didn't understand a thing she had said and her smile showed that she was enjoying the fact that I was in agony trying to figure out what she had meant.
Seeing that I haven't said a single word, she added, "Do you want me to break it down for you, Sweetheart" there was a hint of mockery in her voice and I know it was not the best idea for her to speak or she would spite me, she did speak regardless, "it's simple.... If my son had asked you to get information on me to bring about my arrest all for a marriage proposal, shouldn't you be weary that my son already figured that both you and I are accomplices and now that he used you to get to me, it's only a matter of time before they come for you...."
"Shut up!" I yelled at her, "You have no clue how much your son loves me, look at this ring" I showed off the diamond ring Damon wore on my fingers the day I brought information about his mother to him at the hotel he was staying at. "Do you think he would've tried to use me if he didn't love me?"
"Crazy bitch! Get it together, my son has his eyes on Elizabeth the previous time and now those eyes are both stuck on that surrogate girl, there has never been a time that he has ever looked at you the same way that he has with them, you will forever be a friend and nothing more... It's high time you let go of that obsession"
Obsession? Is this woman mad? I want to rip her hair off hair scalp right now, how dare she say that am obsessed when she is the one still clinging on her love for three decades now, she has refused to even let Xander's father be with another woman because of how much she loves him despite being married to another.
Then if I choose to stick to Damon for the rest of life then so be it. Taking his scent each day, seeing his face, hearing him yell at me and pushing me away has been the only thing that has brought us this close so there was no need to complain.
"Speak about obsession one more time and I will order my men to shoot five bullet into Gregory's head, don't test me" I threatened.
I watch as Beatriz blabbing mouth close shut, I know Xander's father was her weak point that's the only thing that can pull her down and I have her wrapped around my fingers because of it.
"That's more like it, time to go pick out a new wedding dress for my wedding this time around it will be for real, will send you an invite if you manage to get yourself out" I winked before turning to leave.
"I will confess everything...." She said and I stopped in my tracks turning back to see how serious she looked.
"You will confess what?" I asked.
"I'll let them know that you were the one who ordered the nanny to give her a wrong medicine and also paid the doctor a huge amount to lie about the autopsy, not only that you also paid both of their trip out of this country...."
"Go ahead" I said unperturbed, "Go ahead and tell them that and see if they believe you, you don't get it at all old woman, I have the ultimate strength in all of this which is why I beg that you accept the crime in due peace and plead guilty so as to reduce your sentence cause at this rate you might end up living the rest of your life in a prison cell and you might never get to see your lover again.... So please do what's best for the both of us" I said before finally walking away from her.
I was about stepping into my car when I stumbled on Xander, he had someone with him, a lawyer, I presume. Still have the vibe of wanting to taunt people, I walked towards him.
"I see you finally got a lawyer, Beatriz has been worried sick that her sons has abandoned her, I really don't understand why Damon is doing all this to her....." I said as my eyes travelled down to the lawyer's shoes, they were all worn out that you could see the shoe pad sticking out of the mouth of the shoe and I am damn sure it reaks, my eyes later travelled up to his jacket were I saw the name of his law firm "Ruthless Lawyers and co."..... "If you need anything please don't hesitate to seek my help"
"Thanks for your concern but I have already covered the expenses, can we go see her, Mr. Carr" Xander said and the lawyer with the bad shoe followed him.
How much did he even pay him that he is bragging about it.
I pulled out my phone and called my secretary, "Ms Hilda can you help me call on this law firm "Ruthless Lawyers and co." and see if they have anybody working under them by the name Mr Carr.... I didn't get his first name"
"Alright Miss, I will do that quickly" Hilda said before I hung up the phone.
*Sigh*
I really don't want to do this but if Beatriz insist on throwing me off the bus like I did to her then I will make sure that no lawyer will ever want to defend her case..... I think money can solve that problem.
Whether Beatriz speaks or not that will still be decided by me, she was soon to be my mother in law so killing her wasn't an option, maybe silencing her by cutting off her tongue could do the trick.
I smiled at myself for this wonderful thought that had occurred to me.
To celebrate, I drove myself to a pizza shop nearby and ordered for it. I wanted to share it with the love of my life while we both discussed the issues of marriage and decide on how many kids we should have.
I felt so giddy while imagining the many trips we would take with our kids, our honeymoon, post honeymoon, giving birth.... Taking care of our baby till she can talk and calls me mom like Liliana did to that useless surrogate... I mean how can that baby choose to call a woman that isn't even her mother her mother? Like I just don't get.... I will make sure that I never have to make a decision to use a surrogate at all cause they are nightmares take Priscilla for example, that bitch actually stole Damon from Elizabeth clutches.
I carried the two boxes of pizza out of the car. Asking a maid standing at the stairs were Damon was and she directed me to the study while telling me that he was with someone..... I am sure you can guess who
The want to catch them both in an act that could momentarily flare me up was quite itching, it moved me to make my steps quicker but stopped, not having the audacity to do what I wanted to, I leaned to listen in on their conversation after sending a text to my men to be on standby.
".......There can only be only one woman and that is you, Liliana" it broke my heart when I saw as Damon took her hand in his, caressing it slowly while kissing the tip of her fingers.
"Is that why you gave her the ring that is meant for me?" Priscilla asked, her behavior unresponsive to the romantic touch from Damon.
I heard her say that the ring that was currently on my finger we're on hers but waited to hear what Damon had to say about that.
"I wanted her to believe that I was really going to get married to her and as at that time the ring so happened to be there and she took..... And given that that was the only way Alicia could spill the beans on my mum, I had to for the sake of both your mom and Rachel.... They were both innocent people in this whole fiasco..... Believe me my love, nothing in this world will make me trade you for it" and then he pulled the surrogate into a kiss.
I hate when Beatriz is right.... She warned me of this and I was tone-deaf about it. Now I am once again experiencing a deja Vu and this for the third time in two years.
Only this time everything will end with me.
With all the anger in me, I pushed the heavy doors open and stepped into their moment to disrupt the emotions flying since Cupid decided to make a visit to the both of them and not to me, I guess it is high time that I play the maleficent role.
"With all the love that I have given you, I can't believe that you would use me this way, Damon. Too bad that same love will be the reason I shall kill you myself....." And with that I ran to the main gate to see that my men had created the great massacre, diminishing every one of Damon's security guard.
"Don't kill the maids and Cooks in the mansion.... I already have too much blood on my hand that will keep me in hell for an eternity. Get the baby..... She will be the one holding my ring even though she isn't a boy, bring along Elizabeth and her parents, someone should head to the police station and kidnap Xander, he is trying to get his mom out.... Oh... I guess bringing her along might not be a bad idea, I think am forgetting someone else...."
"Alicia" I heard Jeanette whiny voice call out. She was on her swim suit which mean she was busy in the pool.
"That's her and please get someone to wear her some clothes, I don't want her naked at my wedding if not she will distract Damon" I smiled as everyone was dragged out of the mansion by force and into the big van that awaited them at the front of the gate.
I have never been this much happy in my life.
