Chapter 3: The Hunt Begins

Within this intricate tapestry of virtual and reality, a young warrior emerged, his mind honed to a razor's edge, his body a weapon of precision.
As he delved into the data on this unfamiliar planet, the information before him revealed a Level 1 creature resembling a rabbit—a swift and aggressive being with silver fur and three small, glowing claws on its feet. Equipped with a token passed down through generations, he had a modest budget of 100 million tokens, with AI diligently managing his expenses. With a purposeful decision, he chose to generate a modern compound bow,
Basic Modern Bow
Damage 1-3
Range 27-50 meters.
The deduction of 100 tokens for the bow and 100 more for a hundred transforming arrows was a small price to pay for his hunting arsenal.
Silently venturing forth, he sought out the Level 1 rabbit-like lifeform, mindful of the AI's parameters for permitted hunts. Methodically, he positioned himself, aided by Noy's control over the nanomachines within his body. Though it was his first time, his body gradually adapted to the fluidity of hunting movements, ensuring he remained undetected. With unwavering focus, he aimed and released the arrow, his first hunt proving successful.
Yet, the tranquility was short-lived, for another rabbit-like creature emerged, charging towards him with an unexpected ferocity. Startled, he swiftly recalled his training, evading its assault by sidestepping and swiftly retreating. Amidst the chaotic dance, he reloaded his bow, honing his ability to aim with lightning speed. On his second attempt, the arrow missed its mark, but he swiftly adjusted, evading once more while reloading and aiming with newfound efficiency. Finally, on the third try, he triumphed over the creature.
Breathing a sigh of relief, he surveyed the surroundings, realizing no other life forms lurked nearby. Gathering the two defeated rabbits, he received five points of tokens for each, along with five experience points. As he glanced at his experience bar—10 out of 1000—he knew the path ahead was long and arduous. Yet, back in the real world, an AI robot replicated his hunt, successfully capturing two rabbit lifeforms and returning them to the safety of the spaceship.
Saying "Noy, menu," a plethora of choices materialized before him, and he selected "training." Instantaneously, he found himself transported to a vast training field, alive with moving targets. He honed his skills, evading with agility, reloading with finesse, and constantly assessing his time. Every twenty minutes of practice, he immersed himself in the rhythm of mastery. The arrows, once mere pencil-like shapes embedded in his chest, transformed into tangible, real arrows when touched. Within this training realm, costs were nonexistent, allowing him to delve deeper into his archery prowess.
After the physical exertion of his training, he called upon Noy to provide him with access to ancient knowledge. Old books materialized on the screen before him, offering a gateway to wisdom. "The Art of Archer" by Simone Barter, "Archery: The Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Mastering the Art of Archery" by Patrick Stahl, "Precision Archery: The Complete Guide to Accuracy" by Steve Ruis and Claudia Stevenson, "Shooting the Stickbow: A Practical Approach to Classical Archery" by Anthony Camera, "Archery Fundamentals" by Teresa Johnson, "Archery: Steps to Success" by Kathleen Haywood and Catherine Lewis, "Zen in the Art of Archery" by Eugen Herrigel, and "Archery Anatomy: An Introduction to Techniques for Improved Performance" by Ray Axford—all beckoned to him. Choosing at random, he delved into the pages, savoring the wisdom within during his moments of respite.
Days in his world followed a rhythm—training to refine his skills and immersing himself in the timeless knowledge of archery. His body, sustained by liquid nutrients delivered through the capsule, never knew hunger. In this future, AI has mastered the art of fasting, regulating the intake of nutrients and extending human lifespans to unprecedented lengths—100 to 500 years—a testament to the advances in aging control that had become the norm.
This time, he beseeched Noy, "Assess my body movements during reloading and running, and create a fluid motion that ensures accuracy and swiftness during the hunt." Noy, with its vast knowledge and archive of videos and books, began to showcase replays of his previous practices and hunting endeavors. The amalgamation of movements from the past, combined with newfound insights, birthed a novel fluidity in his actions. Realizing the potential of repetition as an exercise, he dedicated himself to perfecting the new motion.
With Noy as his guide, warning him when his movements faltered, he tirelessly trained in the art of the perfected motion. When the time was ripe, he returned to the field, a hunter primed for the chase. Ascending to higher ground, perching upon stones or trees, he meticulously surveyed the terrain before embarking on the hunt. As the days unfurled, his rapid-fire of arrows and seamless reloading allowed him to effortlessly dispatch not one, but two rabbits with precision. His skill flourished with each passing week, culminating in the ability to hunt three rabbits simultaneously, a testament to his relentless dedication and unwavering focus.
Remembering his initial startle during his first hunt, he turned to Noy once again, seeking not only books but also videos that could provide valuable insights into positioning and tactical awareness in hunting. Noy, ever the diligent companion, swiftly presented a curated selection of resources:
"Hunting the Buck of Whitetail Dreams: Positioning and Tactics for Big Whitetail Bucks" by Dr. Grant Woods
"Precision Bowhunting: A Year-Round Approach to Taking Mature Whitetails" by John Eberhart and Chris Eberhart
"Strategies for Whitetails: Expert Techniques for Taking Big Bucks" by Charles J. Alsheimer and Ray Eye
"Whitetail Strategies: A Guide to Hunting Mature Bucks" by Peter Fiduccia
"Hunting Big Woods Bucks: Secrets of Tracking and Stalking Whitetails" by Hal Blood
With this wealth of knowledge at his fingertips, he immersed himself in a treasure trove of information, absorbing the wisdom of seasoned hunters and expanding his understanding of optimal positioning and strategic tactics.
Added with the newfound knowledge acquired from books, videos, and continuous practice, his hunts became increasingly effortless. Months passed, and with each successful hunt, he could feel himself growing stronger, faster, and more resilient. The exhilarating sensation of leveling up coursed through his veins as his body was injected with potent elixirs of strength, agility, and vitality. It was an entirely new feeling, as if he had transcended the limits of his own humanity.
Curiosity sparked within him, and he turned to Noy, his faithful AI companion, seeking answers to a lingering question. "Are there other human hunters like me near this planet?" he inquired, a glimmer of hope shining in his eyes. The vastness of the universe held endless possibilities, and the thought of encountering fellow hunters in this unexplored territory ignited a flicker of excitement within him.
