Kitanna couldn't find Dante anywhere. No matter where she checked and how many times she called out, she got no response from him. She rested the worst. if anything happened to Dante then the princess would definitely deal with her. After searching fruitlessly for him, she inquired from the guards around. He left the palace. Panic cursed through her pains as she ran out of the palace, searching for him. No one was interested in helping her the minute they discovered who she was looking for. "Dante?" She called for the umpteenth time but there was no answer. "Please answer me. Where are you?" Again, no response. The worse was that she couldn't even track his scent. It seemed like he vanished into thin air. Kitanna continued her search until she came upon a sympathetic man. "I couldn't help but notice you running around, dear. Permit me to ask what you are searching for?" He asked politely. "Dante. I can't seem to find him anywhere," she said, then realized the man probably didn't know who Dante was. "He.. he is tall, hairy…." "You don't need to describe him, dear, I know who he is. Everyone knows Dante. I saw him along the cliff path. I think he was heading for the ocean," he interrupted and her eyes widened. "Ocean!" She dashed off. "Thank you…" she yelled as soon as she remembered she didn't show appreciation. "You're welcome," she heard him yell back as she headed towards the ocean. By the time she got to the cliff, there was no sign of him. "Dante?" She yelled and her voice echoed. No response. "Dante, can you hear me?" She called out, but once again, her echoes greeted her back. Her eyes trailed down to the ocean instinctively. Without second thoughts, she dived in, her siren form breaking loose the minute the water touched her skin. Her eyes scanned the water for him. She could only hope the sharks didn't devour him before she could find him. As she dived deeper, she spotted a figure drowning. Without second thoughts, she followed it and just as she suspected, it was the little human. Relieved and terrified for his life at the same time, she pulled him with her to the surface. Dante didn't make a sound even as she dragged him to the shores. The scales fused into the skin as she stepped out of the water. She laid him on the shores and shook the water off her skin. "Dante?" She called, slapping his cheek softly, but he didn't move. "What to do… what to do…" she contemplated. These humans would refuse to help the minute they set their eyes on him. She stared helplessly, unsure of what to do. Dante suddenly coughed out water and relief washed through her. He continued coughing and she rubbed his back gently. When he stopped, he looked around his surroundings with confusion. "Kitanna?" His voice was barely audible. "Yes?" " What are we doing by the sea?" He asked. "I should be asking you that. What were you thinking diving into the sea when you know you can't swim?" She scolded and Dante's puzzled expression pissed her more. "Why are you looking at me like I don't know what I'm saying? I just saved you from feeding a bunch of hungry sharks. Why did you leave the palace like that?" She yelled and he flinched. Kitanna sighed when she noticed his trembling state. "I'm sorry, D. I didn't mean to raise my voice at you. It's just that, I was so worried. I searched everywhere for you and no one would say a word to me. If a kind man hadn't directed me this way, you would have died," she said calmly. Dante was shocked. He didn't even realize when he left the palace or how he ended up in the sea. All he knew was that his mind was plagued with so many unwanted memories. He just wanted them to stop. "Why would you want to take your life, Dante? I understand that life has not treated you fairly, but you are not alone anymore. You have the princess and I. We try our best to make you happy. Isn't that enough to make you stay?" Kitanna asked sadly. "I'm sorry," Dante apologized. Of a truth, he had nothing else to say. He couldn't explain his actions. It seemed like a greater power was compelling him to do things against his wish, but there was no way to stop it. He didn't stand a chance against whatever that was controlling him. He would have told Kitanna about it, but he wasn't sure she would believe him. No one ever did. They would say he was making up stories to justify his wickedness. "Don't repeat this, okay?" "Okay." She helped him up and they headed back to the palace. Kimorra stepped out of her hiding place. Earlier, she had spotted Kitanna outside the palace walls, inquiring about Dante. For days, she had observed the strange women who entered the palace and subsequently ruined her marriage. She had always known there was something suspicious about them. Their sudden fondness of Dante made her even more suspicious. She did suspect they were up to something but never in her wildest dreams had she imagined what she just witnessed today. A strange fish-like creature, covered in scales? She'd never seen anything like it. Hell, no one would believe her if she tried to spread the word. She would need evidence. Kimorra stared at the water thoughtfully. Perhaps if she came in contact with water, her real form would surface. Or she could try to be nicer to Dante. Maybe then, he would spill everything she needed to know. What if he had no idea about Kitanna's real identity? She rescued him from drowning and was in her human form when he regained consciousness so it was quite unlikely. "Assumptions won't help me now. I need to get closer to Dante if I want to expose them. If he doesn't know anything, I will have to seek help elsewhere."
