6 years ago "Where the fuck is Sage?" he asked Isabella, looking around desperately for his girlfriend, or ex-girlfriend, who he had broken up with. It's been 96 hours since she put a gun to his head and kicked him out of her house after putting the gun to his head. Even after 96 hours, when he barely felt alive, he still couldn't believe she had to find out this way. He couldn't see her because his father went crazy when he found out that their plan didn't work and locked Wade in the basement of their house. He doesn't care about that at all. Anything was better than staying in his bedroom, where her smell still filled the air, her touch was still visible on the bedsheets, her rubber bands were still all over his side table, and her makeup still took up most of the space on his dressing table. It looked more like her room than his, and he used to be so proud of it, but now he can't help but feel sad and cry his eyes out as soon as he walks into his bedroom. But all of a sudden, he got a message on his phone, which his poor excuse for a father had taken away.
Number unknown: Please meet me at the Boston Mansion at 4 o'clock today. I have something to tell you. — Sage. Even though it annoyed him, his father told him to take two of his guards with him. He couldn't do anything to say no. Wade, who was 17 at the time, didn't care that one of the guards looked shady. Which was one of the worst things he ever did. As soon as he got to the mansion, which was a long way from his home, he knew something bad was going to happen, but he didn't worry about it and went inside. The guards went in through the back door to hide in case something bad did happen. He walked into the house, where he was met with nothing but quiet. There were only two guards at the front door, and they let him in right away without even asking who he was. As soon as he got inside, he heard the big doors close, which made him jump. As he looked in the front, he fiddled with his rings. Even though he knew something was wrong, he decided to ignore the signs for now. Someone suddenly came out of the dark shadows as he was trying to figure out if what he was seeing was real or just a dream. He saw Isabella standing in front of him with her hands folded on her chest and a smirk on her face, as if to tell him she had won whatever the hell was going on. He wanted to run away, but when he put his hand in his back pocket to get his gun, he found it was empty. He swore that when he got out of the car, he had the gun with him. Which brought him to where he is now. Isabella laughed at his stupid question and said, "Well, you know that Sage loves you a lot, so..." She paused. When her mother spoke, he felt his heart skip a beat. "That means she wouldn't want you to die." Before he could do anything, a man in black clothes grabbed him from behind by the neck, and he could feel the cool metal of the gun on his head. When his reflexes kicked in, he took a step back and felt the attacker's chest brush against his back. He held his breath and spun around, which surprised the attacker and didn't give him a chance to respond. Wade kicked him right in the shin, making him fall back and drop the gun on the floor. Wade used the chance to punch him in the face, knocking him to the ground. Wade stepped on the attacker's hand as he reached for the gun on the floor. As the attacker screamed in pain and reached out to grab Wade's leg to make him fall down, his boots made a crunching sound. But Wade easily got his hand off of his leg and kicked him in the face, making him curse again. Wade picked up the gun from the floor and loaded it, which made the person who was attacking him gulp. He kept the gun to the attacker's head, but instead of killing him, Wade hit him on the head with the gun once, twice, and three times until he was completely out. Even if someone tried to hurt him, he didn't want to kill them. When he turned around, it was eerily quiet in the house. He couldn't find Isabella, and the doors were still locked. Suddenly, he heard some musicians playing near the mansion's front door. His legs took him there almost right away, and he put the gun in his back pocket. When he saw what was going on, he quickly hid behind a big column. Adam, his dad's most trusted guardian, was pointing a gun at Isabella, and Isabella was doing the same to him. Adam had been acting strangely suspicious from the start. What in the hell was going on? Adam said, "You shouldn't have betrayed us, Isabella. We fuckeding trusted you with information about the mafia. How dare you tell them?" His voice was calm, but his words were angry. As a response, Isabella just laughed and said, "I do whatever the fuck I want, Adam." That was the last thing she said before she shot herself once, twice, three times. Adam laughed as he pulled the trigger on his own gun exactly 4 times as it hit Isabella right in the head. Wade yelled, "Adam!" and ran to the scene quickly, holding Adam's body in his arms and holding Adam's gun, which was still pointed at Isabella, who was lying in a pool of blood. Then Sage walked into the big house. Let's get back to now. After two weeks. "Sage, mom wants you to come down for lunch," Alisia said as she burst into my room and slammed the door open. I told Alisia, "Tell Kathryn I'll be down in a few minutes, they can start without me." I looked up from my computer and turned my chair toward the door, where she was standing in a cute blue dress that matched her butterfly hairclips and necklace. Her blonde hair was pulled back into a ponytail, and she smiled at me with two missing teeth. My heart felt better. She gave me a thumbs up and sat down on my bed. "Are you busy?" she asked quietly as she fiddled with her necklace. "Nope, not anymore," she said. "What's up? You look a little sad." "Um," she paused and rubbed the back of her neck. "He's not talking to me because he's mad at me," she said, but she didn't look at me. "Who is upset with you?" I asked, not knowing what she meant. "Um, Ryan, he's not talking to me," she said softly, grabbing for a tissue. I was scared when I got up from where I was sitting and sat down next to her on the bed, gently pulling her toward me. "Hey, hey, calm down, okay? Why isn't he talking to you? Did you two have a fight?" I bit my tongue and waited for her to answer, realizing that I had asked way too many fucking questions. "Well, some boys in class were making fun of me," she said, pausing to see what I would say. Surprisingly, I didn't say anything. When she saw that I didn't say anything, she said again with more confidence, "And Ryan punched them all in the face." My eyes got bigger when she said that, and I'm not going to lie, I'm very proud of Ryan for doing that. Those jerks probably deserved it, but I don't say anything like that so that Alisia doesn't get even more upset than she already is. I asked quietly, "And then what happened?" I was suddenly very interested in this play. "I yelled at him in front of the whole class," she said after pausing to see how I would respond. Her voice was hoarse, which is a sign that she is about to cry. "Calm down, Alisia," I said softly. "It's okay. We can go to his house tomorrow and figure this out then. Don't cry, please." She stuck out her bottom lip while thinking and then nodded. She gave me a toothy smile as she wrapped her tiny arms around my waist and hugged me tightly. "Thank you, Sage. You are the best sister ever. I love you," "I love you more," I said softly as I stroked her head and ran my fingers through her hair. "Sage, can I ask you something?" she asked, taking her hands off of me and sitting back down on the bed. I said yes, and she asked the question I was dreading: "Why are you living with us? Did you also fight with Wade? Did he make you upset?" Wade, sure. I've been living with my parents at their house for more than two weeks now. After Dad got married to Kathryn and Alisia moved in, I used to live alone, so I have never lived with them. My old room from high school is still pretty much the same, so of course I've stayed over more than once. Even after 6 years, I couldn't bring myself to take down the Polaroids of Wade and me that were stuck to my wall with fairy lights. When I look at those pictures, I realize how much Wade and I have changed. Wade looked so happy in those pictures, with a crazy grin on his lips, crinkled eyes when he smiled, and red cheeks. He seemed to be in love. Who would have thought that a 17-year-old boy hiding the biggest secret of his life behind a crazy grin? Every time I looked at those pictures, my heart hurt for him. My hands wanted to tear them out and burn them, but my heart wouldn't let me. Maybe because the photos are the only proof that we used to be like that and love each other. "Sage," Alisia said, pulling me out of my thoughts. "Can I eat one of those Ferrero Rocher's?" she asked, pointing to the million packs of Ferrero Rocher's on my study table. The Ferrero Rochers Wade gave me, not the ones he gave me six years ago, because my dad has already eaten those. But the ones he sent to me on my second day here. He sent me a small letter and some flowers along with 2191 pieces of Ferrero Rocher. Hello, Sage! I've already blocked your phone number, so don't try to get in touch with me. I don't want you to start yelling at me just because I sent you these sweets. Don't think I'm sending you these sweets to impress you (even though I kind of am), but I know you've always liked Ferrero Rocher and that they make you feel better when you're feeling down. And since I'm the reason you've been sad for the past six years, here are 2191 candies for 2191 days. Please eat them, and I hope you miss me because I miss you like hell:( After I read his letter, my first thought was, "His handwriting is still terrible." Then I started to smile, and Kathryn and my dad started to tease me about him. I still haven't opened the chocolate package, and to be honest, I'm not sure if I want to. Maybe I should open it and share it with everyone, but a part of me wants to keep it all to myself and not give it to anyone else. I tell Alisia, "When I open it, I'll give it to you," even though I know I won't open it any time soon. Thankfully, she believes me and runs out of the room, telling me to hurry down as well. I also get out of bed to fix my hair and pick up my glasses, which keep falling on my nose for some reason. I really need new frames, but I couldn't be bothered to get my eyes checked again just to get new frames. If you can't tell already, wearing glasses is a pain. I quickly went down the stairs when I heard Kathryn playing a famous interview on the TV while she and my dad talked about something very personal. My dad was smiling mischievously, and my mom was blushing. They seemed so happy together that it warmed my heart. "Ahem," I said to get their attention, and they both looked at me with happy smiles on their faces. "Where were you? The food is cold, do you want me to reheat it for you?" Kathryn's question started out as a reprimand, but as the sentence went on, it became more of a worry. "No, it's fine. I'll do it myself if I have to," I said with a smile, making her nod. I am not used to this kind of love, so when people do nice things for me, I usually think they are doing it for a reason or that I don't deserve their love. But living in this house has shown me how normal it is for family members to love each other, which is something I had never seen before. I learned this saying in high school: "A woman can't change a man; a man changes because he loves her." I think it's true, because I can see how much my father has changed for the better. When I was almost done eating, Kathryn called my name. I looked up to see her standing there holding Alisia's teddy bear. Kathryn asked me softly, "We're leaving in about 15 minutes. Are you sure you don't want to come with us?" I smiled back. "No, you guys go have dinner and enjoy yourselves. Will you be out all night?" I asked, making her nod. When Alisia called out to her, she said, "Yes, I'll leave some food in the kitchen, but you can also order food if you want. Also, please make sure to lock the doors before you go to sleep." She then went upstairs. After I ate everything on my plate and threw away the few leftovers, I washed it at the sink and put it in the machine. ✧・゚: ✧・゚: The sky was pitch black, and it felt like the huge clouds were coming toward me. I heard a tap on the window, which turned into a pitter-patter. As the clouds spat out drops of water, people ran for cover outside and opened their umbrellas. As the rain got stronger, puddles started to form, and she could hear the rain muttering through the window. I shut the blinds, sighed, and drank the rest of my coffee while rubbing my eyes and trying to finish the work I'd been doing for four hours. Heavy raindrops flew in all directions as torrents of rain hit the sidewalk. The trees shook in the strong wind as if they were trying to shake off the rain like a dog shaking his wet fur. I went back to her computer and played glimpses of us by Joji loudly to drown out the loud noise. "Then why do I still want to be you if she is so perfect?" I leaned back in her chair and lightly massaged my head with the tips of my fingers, trying to stop the light hiss that comes out of my mouth every time the metal rings brush against my forehead. When I stood up, my head hurt, and I could hear the noise getting louder by the second. I was getting confused and nervous because of the loud thunder, lightning, pounding rain, and whistling wind. I wanted the shaking to stop, even if it was just for a moment, so I could get my thoughts straightened out. When I heard the bell, I quickly turned my head to my bedroom door. There was no one in the house, no one on the street, and it was pouring outside, so I was sure that Alisia, Kathryn, and dad would not be coming home tonight. If they were, they would have called. I ran to the door, making sure to take my gun with me and put it in the back pocket of my pants in case someone tried to kill me. You can never be sure, right? When I opened the door, what I saw made my whole fucking world stop. When I looked at the person in front of me, I felt a heavy feeling in my stomach. I quickly ran towards him, ignoring the slight shaking in my hands as I looked at his condition. Wade was in front of my house. His face was covered in bruises, and he smelled like he had been drinking.
