Chapter 31: Last Words

Chapter 31: Last Words
Jake was playing with Layla to divert his thoughts about Riley when his phone rang.
His mood changed when it's his father.
"What?"
"How are you, my son? I just called to inform you that we're on the plane going to Seattle." His father said.
Jake suddenly coughed and choked on his own saliva. "W-What?"
"We're on our way there to Seattle. And don't ask why. We just wanted to see our sons. We can't wait for that important thing you'll tell us."
Damn...
Jake stood up to get his car key and went to the garage. "Okay, then. I'll tell my brothers."
"Thanks, son."
He stilled. "For what?"
"For slowly accepting me in your life."
A thought came into his mind. Let's see that when you're in the court.
He ended the call and started the engine of his tesla and drove it to the Bar Cave.
"HELLO, DAD?"
Ethan answered his father's phone call right after his stage performance at the Bar Cave with his band.
It's quite loud inside the bar so he stepped outside to hear clearly his father on the other line.
"My son, I called to remind you that our flight is today so expect us there tomorrow afternoon." his father said.
Ethan was stunned yet managed to speak. "Oh. I didn't expect that. I thought you booked a flight for next week? What's the fuss, dad?"
His father chuckled on the other line. "Well we just wanted to see our sons so soon. And I'm excited to hear that important thing that you'll tell us when we get there."
His face paled. If he only knew the reason why he and his brothers wanted to see their fathers, then they definitely wouldn't want to go back here in Seattle and just stay there in Florida.
Ethan shook his head.
Just think of mom. He hurt and left mom for the second time. He said to himself.
He sighed. "Okay. Goodluck on your trip. Bye."
Before he could end the call. His father spoke.
"Just remember, my son. Your dad loves you. And your mom."
Then why did you leave her?
He was about to ask when the line ended. He squatted at the edge of the road outside the bar where he stands.
Minutes later, a tesla stopped in front of him. He saw Jake stepped out in the driver seat.
He stood up and faced him. "What brings you here in the middle of the night?"
Jake raised his phone. "My father called. He told me that their flight is today." he sighed and murmured a curse. "Hyung, what are we going to do?"
Ethan furrowed his eyebrows. "Why asking me? You're the one who's smart in handling crazy plans and making decisions."
Jake rolled his eyes. "Well you're the elderly among us four so you create our next plan."
"Tsk. You little…" Ethan murmured.
Jake just sticks out his tongue at him. "We already finalized everything at the court for our case next week. We can't cancel that and move for tomorrow."
"You're right." Ethan's eyes widened when he remembered Hoon is in Japan. "Hoon's not here."
"Yeah. So as Jay hyung who booked a flight in Japan."
His eyes widened more. "What?!"
Jake shrugged. "I saw him earlier in a rush while packing his clothes. Then when I asked him where he will go, he said in Japan. But he didn't tell me the reason. Maybe he wanted to witness the snow while it's snowfall season in Japan."
Ethan wanted to slap Jake in the head for thinking ridiculous in this situation but he stopped himself. It wouldn't help to solve their problem.
He frustratedly brushed his hands on his face. "So what now? Now that the two are in Japan and we're the ones who left here and our fathers will be here tomorrow, should we cancel the child and parent separation?"
Jake's lips thinned. "Hell, no. We all know that we hated our fathers for hurting and leaving mom. So why are we going to stop? Over my dead body." He said in a serious and deadly voice.
Ethan smiled. "Now that's the mindset. When they get here, we'll tell our fathers that it is just a prank. Just to lure them. Then we will pursue the case by next week." He grinned. "Let's see what their reactions will be if they find our surprise for them."
Jake's lips formed 'o'. "Woahh, now look who's smart in handling crazy plans, huh?" he laughed. "You just proved it yourself."
Ethan shook his head. "Idiot. Now let's tell the others."
ROAMING AROUND in Japan was nice. Especially when you're with the person you like and cherish.
While watching Riley in the ice rink, skating, his phone rang.
"What is it?" He asked in a cold voice.
The person on the other line spoke. "Son, we'll be in Seattle tomorrow afternoon. Our flight is today-"
"What? Why? I thought you'll be in Seattle next week?"
He was calm on the outside but he's horrified and panicked inside.
"We canceled it. My friends miss their sons so why not go back when we already finished our business here in Florida?"
Sh*t!
"Fine. Have a safe flight then."
"Thanks my son. See you. Bye."
"Bye." He replied and ended the call.
Hoon tapped something on his phone. He has to talk to his brothers about this. He didn't want to go back to Seattle yet and cut the days of spending here in Japan with Riley.
But when things get out of hand, then they will definitely go back to Seattle. He wouldn't want Ethan and Jake to handle their fathers on their own. It's their decision to cut ties with them in the first place so they have to face them together.
JAY PUT on his earphones and listens to the music entitled "Blessed-Cursed" to lighten up his mood while he's in the plane. His phone was on airplane mode so he couldn't receive any network communications.
When the plane landed in the airport in Japan, he turned on his airplane mode. That's when he received 82 messages and 108 missed calls.
"The heck is their problem?"
He read the latest message that Ethan sent.
What are you doing in Japan? Our father just told us that their flight is today and they will be here in Seattle tomorrow. But don't worry. We have a plan. Just get back here as soon as possible. -Ethan.
His brows furrowed when he saw 17 missed calls from his father.
He annoyingly called him back.
His father did not take any minutes to answer his phone call.
"What do you want?!" He shouted.
A second of silence. Then his father spoke. "We're on our flight today. We'll be there in Seattle tomorrow-"
"Oh cut the crap and go straight to the point on why did you call me many times?"
He heard his father sighed on the other line. "I just missed you, son."
Jay had goosebumps all over his body. "F*ck you're so gross! It makes me shiver down to my spine!"
"Son, we've planned our flight today so that we could see our sons. Our business here is over so we decided to go back."
His jaw clenched while he's walking at the exit of the airport.
"Fine. It's up to you. Do whatever you want."
"And son, if you made up your mind, please accept my offer. Offer to become the heiress of our company. Your brother Ethan wanted to let go of that opportunity because my friend, his father, just hurt and left your mother. So please, Jay. I hope you can change your mind about that. That's the least thing you could do for me." His father is pursuing him.
"I made up my mind, old man. And why do I look like I'm the one who had to pay the price for ruining mom's life?" He talked back. "Isn't that supposedly your responsibility? Making up with your son? Ask forgiveness to my mother? Is it hard to do that?"
His father was out of words for a minute. Then he spoke.
"I'm sorry… I'm sorry for everything I did to your mother. And I'm really sorry for not being a good father to you, my son. Please forgive me."
A tear left his eye. "I wish you could say that when you first saw me." He wiped his tears and ended the call.
