As far as I could remember, when I was a year old, we used to live there with Babu but the moment I celebrated my 2nd birthday, we moved to Rajanseth for some unkown reasons. Babu was left there alone until I turned three, he decided to stay with us until the last moments of his life. We never went back to the palace, and lived normally like commoners in Rajanseth and still receive a special treatment. The palace was kept hidden under the care of the Royal Family. Only Father and the king knew where it was. I sighed and went inside the house. There I saw Father in the living room, reading a lot of documents. “Father, I’m home,” I said. Even though I knew he wouldn’t like these achievements I got, I still told about it, hoping to have a conversation after months of lack of communication. “F-Father, aren’t these great? I got a certificate and a medal for being great!” I exclaimed, smiling widely and keeping my pride up. He gazed at me, smiling. “Yeah, you’re indeed doing great, but we have no use of the achievements you’ve gained once we go back to Atolon, Renata. However, I’m still glad you’re doing well. In that way, you could easily fool them.” Other than blinking and smiling, I could do nothing after hearing his words. “Fool them . . .” I lowered my gaze and painted an evil smile that betrays all innocence. I went to my bathroom upstairs while his voice kept echoing in my mind. “Fool . . . them?” I stared at the mirror. There I found myself grimacing and slowly losing luster in my eyes until that mirror lured me in the darkness. I could see nothing but a light above me. The moment that a droplet of water hit my forehead, everything went back to normal. Tears started to escape my eyes while my heart was being stabbed countless times. I don’t think I can carry the burden of our plan, but I must betray because I was expected to do so. I’m losing my guard, I’m falling for their sweetest trap. It would surely be a lovely experience with painful consequences. I shall stop this little emotional attachment to them to grow bigger. Or else . . . I will fail. I will never let myself be a failure. I grabbed the medal, held it tightly, and hid it under my bed. I was starting to get so confused. I was still trembling in rage for what they did, but I felt guilty for being cruel to them—even though I did not do something that hurt them. I was thinking about the future. They were naïve, clueless about the history, and it was slowly making me guilty. I groaned. I shouldn't feel any attachments towards them. I'm still a Cidgian, and a member of the great clan of Atolon. Whatever the result is, I shan't regret it because it's the plan in the first place. I can't . . . be like this. Right, stick to the plan and keep my guards up. That's what I should do. I won't . . . feel guilty nor pity towards them again. Never again, or else, I'll fall--we will fall because of my stupid mistake. I will never let that happen. I went to my bed, trembling and bothered. I struggled to make myself fall asleep. Before finally closing my eyes, thousands of thoughts flashed in my mind until darkness conquered my vision. "Maximaze, be careful!" a woman shouted. "You might fall, don't run!" Only did I notice that I was in the middle of a barrio, a poor barrio as I could say. Their houses were just made of wood and their outfits were filthy, probably made with rough fabrics. Their faces were unclean yet they still managed to smile. As I looked around, a girl my age whose name was Maximaze caught my attention. She was running in glee, as if there were no problems in this world. Her mother kept telling her to be careful or else she might fall. What a lovely scenery. Eventually, Maximaze ran away from the barrio and went somewhere far from her mother. It was as if someone's controlling me and made me follow her without me realizing it immediately. After minutes of following Maximaze, she finally stopped running. Her feet brought her in the middle of a dark forest. She sang a lullaby I didn't even know and she was not even scared of the darkness. Her voice . . . it was so pleasant to hear. It was cute . . . but deadly. Snakes went to her direction rapidly. I tried to move my feet to save her, but whatever I did, I was stuck and couldn't do anything. A black cobra that's twice larger than her slowly wrapped her body. Maximaze chuckled as if it was just tickling her. Until . . . the snake stared at my gaze and hissed. It writhed while slowly approaching me. "HO!" I exclaimed as the snake tried to attack me, causing my vision to darken. As everything went back to normal, I saw Maximaze slowly turning into an . . . adult. The wild pythons joined forces together to remove her clothes. As they succeeded in removing their clothes, I saw a skeleton attached on her back and a shard skull of an animal. Those reptiles also gave Maximaze some golden accessories. The cobra was still wrapping her like a guardian protecting its master. Maximaze then gazed at me. Her golden eyes of a tiger sparkled in darkness which made the forest burn in flames. Only did I realize that the ground we're standing at was a pile of corpses or should I say . . . her victims. She was a goddamn god—what the hell is happening?! Why would a god like her . . . wander around this world as a kid? I woke up. That . . . was weird. Wait, what was that dream about again? I couldn't remember anything. To be continued . . .
