CHAPTER 24

Victoria's heart pounded as she approached the end cliff of the shadowed manor. The moon hung low in the night sky, casting an eerie glow upon the rugged landscape.
As she stood at the edge, a gentle breeze rustled through her raven-black hair, causing a shiver to run down her spine. The scent of damp earth mingled with a hint of decay, creating an atmosphere both intoxicating and sinister. She clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms, steeling herself for what lay ahead.
As the minutes ticked by, Victoria's acute hearing picked up the sound of footsteps approaching from behind. She turned, her crimson eyes narrowing as she caught sight of Eva, standing a few feet away. Eva's heart pounded audibly, her eyes wide with a mixture of fear and determination.
"Victoria," Eva called out, her voice trembling but resolute. "I know everything."
Victoria arched an eyebrow, her gaze piercing. "And what, pray tell, is it that you claim to know, mortal?"
Eva took a deep breath, steeling herself for the conversation that would inevitably alter the course of her life. "I know that Gabriel killed my parents that night, I promise to myself that I will kill him in that day. So if you interfere, I will also kill you."
A smirk tugged at the corner of Victoria's lips, revealing a hint of her deadly fangs. "Impressive," she replied, her voice laced with amusement. "Most humans tremble at the mere thought of my kind. Yet, here you stand, defiant and unafraid."
Victoria's curiosity piqued, and she motioned for Eva to join her on the edge of the cliff. As the young woman hesitantly approached, the vampire's eyes never left her, searching for sincerity and a glimpse of the human soul that dared confront her.
As Victoria scanned the horizon. Her piercing crimson eyes, a stark contrast to her alabaster skin, gleamed with a mix of longing and anguish. For centuries, she had carried the weight of her vampiric nature, silently observing the ebb and flow of humanity.
"Eva," Victoria called out, her voice a haunting melody on the wind.
"I came seeking revenge," Eva stammered, her voice barely a whisper.
"Your family," Victoria began, her voice laced with melancholy. "They were taken from this world by the hands of Marius, not Gabriel as you had believed or as Bloodrayne told you."
Eva gasped, a hand instinctively reaching for her chest. Tears welled up in her eyes as memories of pain and loss resurfaced.
"But... but why?" Eva choked out, her voice trembling with emotion. "Why would Marius do such a thing?"
Victoria's eyes softened, a glimmer of understanding flickering within them. "Gabriel saved Marius from torment of Bloodrayne, but in that day Marius can't control his power and thirst for blood. And if you want revenge, you can't because he got killed by trying to protect you."
Eva struggled to process this revelation.
"Is Gabriel innocent, then?" Eva asked, her voice laden with uncertainty.
Victoria nodded, her features filled with regret. "Gabriel is not without his faults, but he did not orchestrate the tragedy that befell your family. Marius used his machinations to shift blame and sow discord. Gabriel has paid a heavy price for the sins of Marius."
Silence enveloped them as Eva absorbed the truth, grappling with conflicting emotions. The revelation left her raw, her heart torn between grief and the possibility of forgiveness.
The air was heavy with anticipation, as if the night itself held its breath, awaiting the clash of destiny.
As they stood at the precipice of the manor, a shiver ran down their spines, a foreboding sense of the battle to come. The night was pregnant with anticipation, and the air crackled with energy.
Suddenly, a chilling gust of wind swept through the ancient trees, heralding the arrival of their adversaries. From the depths of the manor, figures emerged, gliding effortlessly toward them. The vampires, their eyes aflame with hunger, descended upon the duo with fangs bared and claws extended.
Victoria and Eva fought in perfect harmony, their movements fluid and synchronized, as if they were a singular force. With each swing of Eva's blade and Victoria's lightning-fast strikes, the vampires were momentarily held at bay. But their assailants were relentless, their thirst for blood insatiable.
Eva, on the other hand, had witnessed the horrors of the vampire world firsthand. Her family had been slaughtered by the very creatures they now fought against. Determined to avenge their deaths and protect others from a similar fate, she had dedicated her life to hunting down vampires with unmatched ferocity.
Their shared pasts fueled their determination, and they fought with unwavering resolve. As the moon reached its zenith, their adversaries grew more desperate, their attacks more vicious. Yet, Victoria and Eva refused to yield.
Unbeknownst to Eva, a group of ravenous vampires lurked in the shadows, drawn to the scent of human blood. Their glowing red eyes flickered with anticipation as they closed in, ready to feast on their newfound prey. But they underestimated Victoria's protective instincts.
Sensing the impending danger, Victoria emerged from the darkness, her eyes ablaze with a fierce determination. She swiftly dispatched the first vampire with a lethal strike, impaling its heart with her sharpened fangs. The creature disintegrated into ash, a testament to Victoria's ancient power.
The battle raged on, each swing of Eva's stake accompanied by Victoria's lethal agility. The vampires snarled and lunged, driven by their insatiable thirst for blood. But Victoria's strength and Eva's determination proved to be a formidable force.
Cornered at the edge of the cliff, the remaining vampires fought with a newfound ferocity. They lunged at Victoria and Eva, their fangs bared, desperate to claim their next meal.
But fate had a different plan in store.
As Victoria clashed with one of the vampires, Eva's stake found its mark. With a primal scream, the vampire crumbled to dust. But in the chaos, another vampire managed to sink its fangs into Victoria's shoulder, drawing blood.
Eva's heart raced as she witnessed Victoria weaken. Time seemed to slow as the vampire's eyes met hers, a silent understanding passing between them. Eva knew she had to act quickly.
Summoning her last reserves of strength, Eva lunged forward, plunging her stake into the vampire's heart. The creature howled in agony before disintegrating into nothingness. But Victoria's wounds remained, her immortality fading.
With her final breath, Victoria whispered, "Gabriel and Lucian is in the inside of shadowed manor, Eva. Let my sacrifice be a catalyst for change." And with those words, she collapsed onto the rocky ground, her life as a vampire coming to an end.
