Chapter 22

At Sam's house...
Sam is having a quiet dinner with his parents. For tonight they are having udon (Japanese wheat-flour noodle) and gyoza (Japanese dumpling). Usually his parents would often ask about how school is like for him, knowing that he used to get into trouble back in middle school.
"So how is school, son?" his mom asks as she takes a bite of her gyoza.
"Good, Mom," says Sam as he focus on his udon.
"Ah, sonna (OMG/an expression of surprised)! First time I heard you say school is good," says his father.
"Yeah, Dad! A new sensei (teacher) will be teaching on Monday. I can't wait for that," says Sam before he takes a drink of his ocha (Japanese green tea). "Ok, I'm done."
Sam walks over to the sink to wash his dirty bowl and cup. He puts the bowl and cup back in its place after.
"Sumimasen (excuse me)! I shall go study now. Oyasuminasai (good night)," says Sam as he bows down to his parents before he walks to his room.
"Ah, oyasuminasai (good night), Sam," says his mother.
"Study hard, son," says his father.
"Yes," says Sam as he rush to his room.
At Sam's room....
Sam is studying history as his parents kept reminding him that he needs to get better grades at it. He was never fond of history in the first place. He is more of a science person. Just as Sam continues to read his history book, he noticed a call on his phone as the ringtone blast out. He grabs his phone with a cheesy smile before swiping to pick it up.
"Konnichiwa, Aly-san (Hello, Miss Aly)," says Sam through the phone.
"Aly-san? I'm Alyson. Since when did you changed my name?" Aly asks with a small laugh.
"Ah.."san" is meant to refer something like mr/miss in Japanese. So pretty much, I'm calling you Miss Aly," says Sam as he explains the meaning of the "san" word.
"Ah, ok. Got it! By the way, are you up for Skype? In case you're not busy," Alyson asks.
"Sure. History was getting boring anyway. Let's do it," says Sam as he turns on his laptop to start Skype.
The two eventually turn on their laptops. It didn't took long for them to see each on screen, face to face, as they continue to talk about school issues and other things.
"I can't wait to see the new teacher," says Aly.
"Yeah..Leo was a genius for kicking Mrs. Steward's butt," says Sam with a big laugh.
"Hahaha...let's hope this one isn't another idiot," says Aly as she joins his laughter.
As Aly continue to laugh herself out, Sam couldn't help but stare at her beautiful smile as she laughs. She looked adorable when she laughs like a little kid, he thought it was adorable.
"Hey Aly," says Sam.
"Yes?" Aly answers.
"I have a feeling Steward's departure will bring more joy to our lives," says Sam.
"Hahaha, you bet," says Aly with a bubbly smile.
"And you know what else it brings?" Sam asks.
"What?" Aly asks.
"Your beautiful smile," says Sam with a sassy wink, which causes Aly to blush intensly.
At Leo's house...
"I'm glad you guys finally saw my point of view. Told you that woman is a mess," says Leonard as he continues to play his wrestling game on his PS5.
"My dear son, I'll be sure that Mr Smith is a humble, clever, and kind-hearted young man. Besides, he is an experienced teacher who has lectured in a lot of great schools in Los Angeles," says his mother with her signature charming voice.
Let's hope soo... Leonard thought.
"Your school life will definetly get better after this, son! Mr Smith has dealed with many students from school to school. Not to mention, he has 5 children who are now in elementary school," says his dad as he continues to scroll through his Ipad to check his work.
"Well, he could have had 5 children by mistake," says Leonard sarcastically. "Maybe he forgot to use protection!"
"Oh son," says his mother with a an exhausted look.
The next day...
Friday, at school....
Catherine is going through her books when she feels a familiar voice approaches her. The voice belongs to a familiar male figure who happened to have his arms around Catherine's shoulders by now.
"Good morning, Liam," says Catherine as she continues to search her books.
"Busy morning?" Liam asks in a sassy tone.
"I just need to get some books before class starts. How about you?" Catherine asks.
"Actually I'm waiting for Cameron and Peggy. We just gave the little girl a massive make-over yesterday. Hopefully she can strike her new look today," says Liam as he kept his arms around Catherine's shoulders.
"Wow, that's good. What an interesting way of helping a friend. That's so sweet," says Catherine as she finally gets three books in hands. English, science, and math.
"Yeah..and other than that, I was thinking if you would like to join me for a night out tonight," Says Liam with a cheesy smile. "Don't worry, I'll make it a good surprise," he continues with a sassy wink.
"Umm..where are we going and what time?" Catherine asks as she starts to wonder what Liam has in mind.
"A lovely dinner as I pictured in my head. And some added bonus, which is a surprise," says Liam with a smirk.
What the hell, Mr Brown? What do you have in mind? You naughty little boy. Catherine thought.
"So what do you say?" Liam asks.
I have to admit that I sense this guy having some sort of weird plan. Senses he's gonna involved some drinks to get me under him (or on top). Not that I have a thing with alcohol, I'm totally normal with that. Yet, does he really think I'm a one-night stand or some sort of booty call? Ok, chill your mind, Cath! There's no problem in just going out for a nice dinner and drink, right? Hahaha, I could use a break at times. As long as I could still wake up the next day for work. Catherine thought with a small smile.
"Ok. What time?" Catherine asks.
"I'll arrive at your place at 6:30 PM! Make sure to dress like it's gonna be the best night of your life, cause it is," says Liam with a sassy smile.
"Haha, ok. See you at 6:30 PM I guess," says Catherine before she turns to walk away with grace, leaving Liam to stare at her slim figure from behind.
"She's lovely," says Liam to himself.
It didn't took long for Cameron and Peggy to approach Liam. They eventually found where he was standing at.
"Hey! We found you," says Cameron as he holds Peggy's hand as he walks to Liam, didn't even realize that he was a little blushing at this point.
"Well I'm surely surprise to see our little princess here," says Liam as he gives a sexy wink at Peggy.
"Oh please, this is too much, guys! Everyone's been staring at me since I entered," says Peggy as she sounds a bit nervous despite getting all the attention.
"They are amazed by your beauty, Pegs! You should be proud of that. You are wonderful," says Liam with a big smile as he stares at Peggy's beautiful face. Man, he knew why everybody couldn't help but stare at that angelic figure.
"You look beautiful, Paige! Of course everyone has their eyes on you," says Cameron as he forms a shy smile.
Including me.. Cameron thought.
"With this, Leo will be begging to be your boyfriend at any second," says Liam with a sassy tone.
"I haven't seen him yet though," says Peggy.
"Don't worry! He's probably busy with his jock friends or whatever, or maybe at the principal's office," says Liam. "Sooner or later he'll definetly see you, and when he does, he'll regret not bending now on one knee," says Liam as he tries to make the whole sentence funny.
"Hahaha, oh please, Liam," says Peggy as she giggles.
"Hahaha, lit man! But seriously, let's just get our books first before class starts," says Cameron, in which his two friends agreed.
The bell rang and all the students walk back to finally face Mrs Steward, at least for the last time. This is her last day of teaching at Signature High.
"As you know, class! This will be my last day of teaching all of you. How it truly breaks my heart to know that I'll be leaving all of you kids," says Mrs Steward as she starts to put on her fake tears act. "I'm going to miss you all."
Well we surely won't miss you. Scarlett thought.
Goodbye Mrs Witch. Cameron thought.
Buh-bye sucker. Arthur thought.
"Well we won't miss you, Mrs S," says Sam as he almost screams at his words, making the whole class to burst into laughter.
"On second thought, I will dearly miss all of you, EXCEPT Sam Kashiwagi! I just hope the next teacher won't have a hard time dealing with you troublemaker," says Mrs Steward with a nasty glare.
Wow, and she almost sounded too sweet. Victoria thought.
Recess...
Patrick is searching through his locker to find his notebook. As he continue to look search inside the locker, he felt a familiar voice approach him, continueing with a touch of her soft finger on his shoulder. Standing beside him is a girl with long straight hair and is wearing her cheerleader uniform. A few weeks ago, he would call this lady the woman he admired for her beauty and poise. Now, it seems like he has to answer all those questions again, though he still found her attractive.
"Hi! How are you?" Patrick asks as he turns to look at Lindsay with a smile. Again, he still thought she looks beautiful, but somehow, something inside of him didn't feel the same spark like before. Ever since the talent show, he knew something had change in both of their hearts. He could also see it in Lindsay's eyes.
"I'm good. Just wanted to check up on you. You did a splendid performance back then," says Lindsay with a bright smile.
"Thank you. You and Leo also did a cool performance," says Patrick as he forms a small smile.
The two stare into each other with puzzled looks. Deep down, both of them realize that something had change between them since the talent show, yet it's not like it would be visible enough. It's like they're having new feelings with same faces, and deep down, though they never had an argument, a new spark has come to their hearts, changing what seems attraction to only affection of friendship.
Do I still love him because he's sweet, or do I love Leo because he's hot? Lindsay thought.
Am I in love with her, or am I in love with Tiffany? Patrick thought.
"Well, glad to hear that you're ok! I'll go catch up with the girls first! Bye, Patrick," says Lindsay as she ends the awkward moment between them of endless stares.
Patrick wave goodbye at her before turning back to search inside his locker. The awkward moment made him realize too well of his new feelings.
Meanwhile, Vincent, Leo, and Scott are hanging out at the school library to read some books. Vincent is reading the history of science, Leo is reading DIY handy craft, and Scott is reading a mystery novel.
"You know, Scarlett approached me this morning. She told me to tell you that you need to get some stress out before you get more childish. Don't know what that's about," says Leo as keeps his vision on his book.
"Don't listen to her. She's the one who's obviously being a kid about our relationship," says Vincent with a chill tone.
"What about you, Leo? So are you dating Lindsay now?" Scott asks with curiousity.
"We're pretty good. She's a chill person to hangout with," says Leonard.
"Woah, and I thought you we're getting close with Paige," says Vincent.
"We're just friends," says Leonard casually.
"Man, have you seen her new look this morning? Damn, it's almost like she's tryna to get your attention," says Scott.
"What about her?" Leonard asks as he moves his vision to look at Scott.
"The girl has a whole new look," says Scott. "Not that I found her to be interesting or what, but she just looks hella different."
"Of course, you only have your eyes on one woman, Pierre," says Vincent with a sassy smirk. "And she's none other than my best friend."
"Ok, but I gotta beat two dudes first if I wanna win her cute little heart," says Scott with passion in his eyes. Vincent and Leo could almost see the vision of him beating someone up in his eyes, which they thought was scary.
"Who?" Leonard asks.
"Damn old Georgie Martinez and freakin old Patricia Sanders," says Scott as he deliberately change the names of the two guys who are close to Tiffany. "Xiao Hua will be mine and only mine!"
"You change their names?" Leonard asks.
"Totally," says Scott with confidence.
"When did Tiff and Patrick even got closer? For what I knew they only perform together for the talent show," Vincent asks.
"I know Lin Ming Hua way more than anyone. I'm living under the same roof with her. She's my freakin' suppose-to-be girlfriend," says Scott as he finally puts his mystery novel down.
"You mean she's your step-sister?" Vincent asks with an awkward smile.
"Step means we're not blood related, which means we should just start dating," says Scott with a higher tone, causing the librarian to stare at them with annoyance.
Oh brother. Vincent thought.
Damn...Mr Big Mouth here needs to learn to lower his tone. Leonard thought.
As the three boys now sits in awkward with the librarian staring at them, they are soon approach by a girl with long straight black hair. The girl is wearing her white v neck tank top and shorts, complete with some sneakers. She had a ribbon hair clip on her side bangs, and her make-up is the perfect mix of Western vibes and Asian colours. She is Paige Song Ji Hye, the one and only.
"Hi! Is anybody sitting here?" Peggy asks as she tries her best to lower her voice, not wanting to annoy the librarian.
"Nope," says Leo as he finally takes a good look at the young girl standing in front of him. Wow, she really does look different. At this point, she looks more like an elegant mature woman than a cute high school teenager.
"Oh, ok," says Peggy as she pulls out the empty chair to take a seat. Leo couldn't help but stare at his best friend's new look way too obvious. Even Scott and Vincent start to notice his weird behaviour.
"Excuse me...bathroom break," says Scott before he stands up from his seat. "See ya guys later," Scott adds before he walks out of the library.
"Ok," says Leo with awkwardness as Peggy tries to keep her vision on her math book. She's trying to play hard to get with him, while still trying to seduce him in a way with her new look.
Oh boy. Vincent thought.
"Wow, Pegs...umm, you look great," says Leo as he starts to get lost in his own mind while looking at her.
Though Peggy is blushing intensly behind her book, she tries her best and just answers with a simple "thank you" to him. She didn't want to make it look too obvious that she's trying to mess with him.
After school...
"So you girls wanna go and study together after school?" Victoria asks as she walks out of the school building along with Sabrina, Candice, and Liana.
"Count me in! I hate studying with the sound of Tiara's nagging in the background," says Sabrina.
"Yeah sure. It would be boring to study alone," says Candice. "How about you, Li?"
"Ah, I would love to get together with you girls, but I already promised Arthur I'll go study with him at his place," says Liana.
"Ah I see. No problem," says Victoria with a small smile.
"Yeah, besides you two look like you could use some alone time," says Sabrina as Victoria and Liana laugh at her sentence, but little did she know that Candice was trying her best to form her fake smile, just to hide the fact that it sort of bother her knowing that Arthur and Liana will be spending more time together. Though she loves Liana like a sister, deep down she couldn't deny that she loves Arthur in a way she shouldn't think about, since he didn't feel the same way as her.
To be continue...
