Chapter 17 The Escape from the Forest
The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as Mark and his friends set out into the forest. They walked in silence, each lost in their own thoughts.
Mark couldn't shake the memory of the white lady from his mind. He had so many questions. Who was she? What did she want? And why had she saved him?
As they walked, Mark noticed something out of the corner of his eye. He turned to look and saw that it was a small, white flower growing on the side of the path. It was the same flower he had seen in the white lady's hair.
Without thinking, Mark reached out to pluck the flower, but as soon as his fingers touched the petals, he felt a sharp pain in his head. He stumbled backwards, clutching his head in agony.
His friends rushed to his side, asking him what was wrong. But Mark couldn't answer. All he could see was a blinding white light.
When the light finally faded, Mark found himself standing in a small clearing in the forest. And there, standing in front of him, was the white lady.
She looked just as she had the night before, with her long white dress and her hair adorned with the small white flowers. But this time, she spoke.
"Mark," she said, her voice soft and musical. "I have been waiting for you."
Mark was speechless. He didn't know what to say, or even what to think. He just stared at the white lady, unsure of what was happening.
"I know that you have many questions," she continued. "And I am here to answer them. But first, you must understand something. You are special, Mark. You have a purpose. And it is my duty to guide you."
Mark felt a strange sense of calm wash over him as the white lady spoke.
As Mark walked, he noticed that the trees were thinning out and the ground was becoming more level. The forest was giving way to a clearing, and in the distance, he could see the glimmer of water.
As he approached the edge of the clearing, he saw that it was a lake, the water still and dark. He walked to the edge, and peered into the water. For a moment, he saw nothing but his own reflection, but then he saw movement out of the corner of his eye.
He turned, and saw the white lady standing on the other side of the lake. She was staring back at him, her eyes fixed on his.
Mark felt a chill run down his spine. He had heard stories of the white lady, a ghostly figure that haunted the forest, luring unsuspecting travelers to their doom.
He watched as she began to walk towards him, her movements slow and graceful. He tried to back away, but his feet seemed rooted to the ground.
As she got closer, Mark could see that she was more beautiful than he had imagined, with long white hair and a flowing white dress that billowed in the breeze.
She reached the edge of the lake, and Mark could see that her feet weren't touching the ground. She was hovering above it, her ethereal form glowing in the moonlight.
For a moment, they stood there, staring at each other. Mark could feel her presence, an otherworldly energy that made his skin crawl.
Then, she spoke, her voice soft and musical. "You have come far, Mark," she said. "But your journey is not over yet."
Mark didn't know how to respond. He wanted to ask her who she was, and why she was haunting the forest, but he was too afraid to speak.
The white lady seemed to sense his fear. "Do not be afraid," she said. "I am not here to harm you. I am here to guide you."
Mark didn't know whether to believe her or not, but he didn't have a choice. He was lost in the forest, and he needed help.
"Guide me where?" he asked.
The white lady smiled. "To your destiny," she said.
With that, she turned and began to float away, across the lake and into the darkness beyond.
Mark watched her go, feeling a mixture of fear and wonder. He didn't know what his destiny was, but he was sure of one thing: he couldn't face it alone.
Mark had been haunted by the white lady for weeks now. He couldn't shake the feeling that she was always watching him, even when he was in the safety of his own home. He had tried everything to get rid of her - from burning sage to reciting prayers - but nothing seemed to work.
One night, as Mark was lying in bed trying to fall asleep, he heard a soft whisper in his ear. It was the white lady's voice, and she was telling him to come to the forest.
Mark was scared, but he knew he had to face his fear once and for all. He got dressed and made his way to the forest, his heart racing with every step he took.
When he arrived, he saw the white lady standing in the clearing, her white dress flowing in the wind. Mark walked up to her, his hands shaking.
"Why are you following me?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
The white lady didn't answer. Instead, she held out her hand and beckoned for Mark to take it.
Mark hesitated for a moment, but then he reached out and took her hand. Suddenly, he was transported to another realm - a dark, ominous place with black clouds covering the sky.
The white lady was standing next to him, her eyes fixed on a figure in the distance. It was a dark, shadowy figure that seemed to be getting closer and closer.
As it approached, Mark could see that it was a demon - a fearsome creature with glowing red eyes and razor-sharp claws. The demon let out a roar, and Mark felt his knees buckle beneath him.
But then, he remembered the words of his grandmother - the words that had helped him overcome his fears in the past.
"I am not afraid," he said, his voice strong and steady.
The demon let out another roar, but Mark stood his ground. He closed his eyes and recited a prayer, and suddenly, the demon disappeared.
When Mark opened his eyes again, he was back in the forest with the white lady. She was smiling at him, and Mark felt a sense of peace wash over him.
"Thank you," he said, his voice filled with gratitude.
The white lady nodded, and then she disappeared, leaving Mark alone in the forest.
From that day forward, Mark was no longer haunted by the white lady or his fears. He knew that he had faced his demons and come out on the other side stronger and more resilient than ever before.Download Novelah App
