The next day, which was a Saturday, Boluwatife visited Fola at her home. She was going back to school the next day in preparation for her school examinations which were to commence in two weeks. She met Fola still sleeping and she dragged her down from the bed while Fola howled in discomfort. Bolu snickered seeing her frowned face. "A lot has indeed happened but I didn't want to inform you because you were in school", Fola began, when they were settled. "What happened?", Bolu questioned. "Olamide attempted to have sex with me and I ran off. I came home, told mum and dad and they were furious. Olamide's father came pleading afterward", Fola explained. "What?", Bolu exclaimed. "Yeah." "What brought about this betrothal of a thing?", Bolu inquired, inquisitively. "Ever since dad was retrenched, he was always looking up to Mr. Garba for help. So he felt indebted to him", Fola answered. "I never knew. You did not explain to me in detail the first time you told me about it. But that isn't enough reason", Bolu said bitterly. "What is the way forward?" "Mum told me to be friendly and stop being harsh with both Olamide and Iremide. She said I shouldn't push any of them away. You won't believe she used what happened against them", Fola uttered and her face lightened up with delight. "How?", Bolu demanded. Fola beamed and replied. "She told Olamide that she won't allow me to marry him unless he allows me to graduate first." "Wao! Mum is a genius", Bolu commented. "Dad couldn't help but agree to it because he was also mad at Olamide. Mum has other plans but she refused to divulge all to me." "Does that mean you have figured out things on your own? I thought things were beautiful between you and Olamide", Bolu asked. "Yeah, I was doing that for mum's happiness. I was getting used to it but what happened two days ago has helped me realize what a fool I have been for even thinking of considering him", Fola remarked. "Hmmm. I will support whatever decision you take wholeheartedly. I think Olamide's father knows about your father's weakness and he is using it against him." "How do you mean?", Fola questioned, in confusion. "Olamide's father knows your father feels indebted to him", Bolu explained. "Really? I wonder why he keeps insisting on this. One annoying thing is the guy is big enough to pick any girl of his choice but he is foolishly following his father's orders", Fola uttered, with disgust. "Does that mean he has an alternate reason for doing this then?", Bolu requested. "That is what mum believes." "Uhmm." Unable to contain her curiosity anymore, Bolu asked, "Who then is Rachel's boyfriend?" Recalling what happened the day before, Fola shrugged before saying, "It's either she is talking about Olamide or Femi." The alarmed Bolu asked, "What do you mean by Femi?" "Because Femi was with us so maybe she mistook me for his girlfriend or something. I don't know." "Femi dare not do that to me. He knows me better than to do such a foolish thing", she replied and whirled around to pick up her phone from Fola's dressing table. She called his number and he picked up the last ring. She quickly activated the loudspeaker mode. "Babe, good morning", he said, amidst roars from the background. "Morning, are you at work?", she asked. "Yes, I am. How was your night?", he replied. "Sorry for disturbing you. I just called to confirm something. Do you know Rachel?", she asked, sharply. "Rachel?", he asked back and replied, "Yes I do." Bolu was red in the face at his declaration while Fola gasped. "Who is she to you?" "I thought I told you who she is." "No, you didn't." "Of course I did." "No, you didn't." "That means you have forgotten because my sister was also there when I told you who she is to me. Rachel is the niece I told you about. I even showed you her picture, didn't I?" "Oh! Yes, you did", Bolu replied as reality dawned on her. "Why do you ask?", he questioned. "Nothing really, talk to you later", she muttered, with a sigh of relief. "Love you", he said to her. "Love you too", she replied and disconnected the call. She gazed at Fola and said, "That means Olamide is her boyfriend." "It's possible. Besides, I don't trust him." "Thank you. I have been meaning to ask you a question and it's quite personal. I hope you will give me a sincere answer", Fola requested. "Go ahead." "Are you still a virgin?", Fola asked, bluntly. Bolu was wide-eyed and petrified at the question. She looked down and answered. "No, I am. I lost my virginity to Femi during the start of our relationship but it was not intentional. It was a mistake." Fola's eyes widened. "How did it happen?" "I went to visit him at home during the first few months of our relationship even before I introduced him to my parents. He cooked for me and I ate while watching a movie. He was still staying with his parents but they were not home. I noticed he was busily pressing his phone as I ate without paying attention to me. The naive girl that I was, I decided to do something to get his attention not knowing he was doing that to control his urge. I purposely spilled the water left in my water bottle on him and he jumped up. He grabbed me and I laughed and then, he kissed me. Before we knew it, the deed was done. Femi felt bad for it and he made a vow then and there never to do that to me again till the day we get married", she narrated. "Hmm." "I just thought I should know. But did you regret it?", Fola asked. "I did and I didn't." Fola eyed her and Bolu laughed. "Satisfied now that you know?" "Yeah. School is opening next week but I will go back the following week", Fola said changing the topic. "You know what? I think I will talk to my dad about getting a job for dad or probably about introducing him to his business. Maybe that will let all this slide a bit and bring back his self-esteem." "What type of business is your dad into coupled with his lecturing job?", Fola demanded. "Only dad knows how best to describe his business", Bolu chuckled lightly. "I think he is into Multi-Level Marketing." "What is that all about?" "I have no idea but he keeps saying something about La Buena Vida which is a Spanish word that means The Good Life and trust me, he is making a lot from that business. He is saying something about resigning soon." "Wao! I need to know about this business, even if dad is not interested, I will gladly be a part of it", the thrilled Fola uttered. "Ehen missing hard work. He has reserved a space for me and Biodun so maybe I will talk to him to reserve a space for you too till you graduate?" "Graduate ke! I want to start making money now", Fola said, sarcastically. "Besides, you refused to inform me about it all this while and now that I know about it, I won't let the opportunity slide." "You need to dedicate your time to the business from scratch so it can have a very strong foundation. How do you want to go about it with your schooling?", she asked Fola. "Do you remember the other day I told you dad went on a business conference? It was a seminar that he organized and anchored and he spent a week there." "You said you don't know how the business works so stop jumping into conclusions. I am a Nigerian and I will know how to manipulate things. I can decide to start building my foundation little by little, Lill it becomes strong", Fola said, dramatically while Bolu laughed. "You think it's a house foundation we are talking about here." "Why are you making it look like it is a very hard task?" "You think I'm happy my father is not always home for us? Same with mum? All in the name of business and lecturing." "I understand, that's why you have me", Fola said with a pitiful face and hugged her. Bolu giggled, "Do I look like your baby? Let go of me joor." "I have never met anyone as crazy as you are. I was only trying to pacify you", Fola said. "Do I look like I need it?", Bolu retorted. "You were looking miserable minutes ago just because mummy and daddy aren't always around. Even Biodun doesn't look this pathetic, I trust my baby. And now you have switched to your strong-woman mode. Do you think I don't know you? I know you need this motherly love so I won't deny you of it. Oya come", Fola said, opening her arms again. Bolu chuckled and went into her arms. "You finally decided to swallow your pride", Fola mocked. "You are crazy", Bolu replied. They hugged each other and rolled on the bed shrieking in laughter.
