Chapter 16 Special Power
The clouds shone in the morning sun, looking so beautiful to look at from above the tree branches. Nathan sat side by side with a bird that lay stiff not daring to move carelessly. Nathan didn't care about the bird's behavior or maybe he didn't understand the fear that the bird felt, he instead stroked its feathers gently.
"The time has come, I have to go to Miss Alina's place to accompany her to sell again..." Nathan left after saying goodbye to a bird and didn't care whether his parting was accepted or not.
In fact, Nathan could have been looking for someone else to help him introduce this world more quickly and in detail. However, he is an immortal being. There's no such thing as bored or too long, like time doesn't apply to him. Meanwhile, he had lived for over 50 centuries which passed through many generations of life in the previous world.
Helping a little girl who has determination and good intentions certainly makes Nathan feel compelled to help an ordinary being in a harsh world like this. After all, Nathan didn't need to rush into the next hundred years either. It could be, there is a time difference between this world and the previous world. Based on that, he hoped that the time here would pass faster than the time in his original world.
Not even a month or even now just a week had passed since his appearance in this world. The war had just ended, there was no way in such a short time the nation of vampires and werewolves would start the bloodbath again. Don't they get tired of constantly taking the life of each side, like a ball rolling in a vertically circular path, it creates an eternal loop.
If that was the case, Nathan had really tarnished the Vampire Lord's reputation.
His concern right now was the unknown time difference. Nathan had indeed felt the difference in time after going in and out of the Monster Gate, where Moona resided.
"Perhaps, my world is running slower than this world..." Nathan muttered hopefully. At this time, he had just arrived in front of Aisyah's house.
There was a knock on the door, footsteps were heard from inside.
“As usual, Mr. Nathan always comes earlier. Come on in…” Alina's mother greeted Nathan, Aisyah was wearing an apron. She seemed to be preparing the dishes for breakfast this morning.
“I thought, it was enough to start the activity...”
“Hihihi… Maybe, you're the one who thinks like that. Look, she just woke up..." Aisyah pointed at her daughter who had just come out of her room and was about to go to the bathroom. Her face was still tousled, her hair was a mess.
As usual, Nathan always came early in the morning to just help Aisyah prepare breakfast. He himself was quite used to eat the usual dishes eaten by humans, he was also always invited to join breakfast together. Something new, that's how Nathan felt. In addition, he learned many things about how to cook a nice food. Although, he has not been able to serve food as delicious as Aisyah's.
“Nathan, today I plan to move to a new marketplace. Want to come along?" asked Alina after finishing breakfast, even though she wasn't invited, Nathan would still come. She was still not used to Nathan's way of eating, which was always silent, as if he had forgotten about the surroundings due to being too focused on the food he was eating.
The area around the Monster Gate on Ambarkasih Street had been reduced considerably due to the presence of visitors. But for hunters, especially novice hunters will flock in line to enter it. After the massacre, this Monster Gate had been conquered without being annihilated. The boss monster was Moona, no one dared to challenge him after the officers from the Hunter's Guild or the hunters experienced with this Monster Gate told everyone about the incident.
Then how people call the Monster Gate is the name of the boss monster who controls the Monster Gate, namely Moona.
The reason Alina didn't want to continue selling there was because the customers had decreased a lot. The hunters this time were not too interested in snacks, they tended to focus their minds on getting the results of the hunt at the Monster Gate.
"That's good. Miss Alina does need to occasionally sell in a new place, so that more people know, the safer you will be. It would be even better if you had a relationship from a strong party, so that without me no one would dare to disturb you again…” Nathan said casually. He did not see the change in Alina's face which looked sad after hearing his words.
With what Nathan said, it was like reminding Alina that after the meeting there would come a time for a farewell.
This morning, the streets were quite quiet. It's not usually like this. Usually, before or after the appearance of the Monster Gate on Jalan Ambarkasih, it will always be quite crowded by pedestrians and motorcyclists. Cars around here still rarely pass by and even then only outsiders.
Nathan and Alina walked side by side like lovers. Seen from afar, the view of the two is like a tower and an ordinary house built side by side. The difference in height between the two is too great.
The streets were deserted, Alina also looked gloomy since hearing Nathan's words earlier. Usually, Alina is always cheerful and likes to chat, no matter what the topic is when she is with Nathan or Aisyah. Nathan was quite surprised by this change in her attitude.
"Well. Miss Alina, I have something to tell you about an offer from the Hunter's Guild…” actually, Nathan was just trying to change this gloomy atmosphere. However, the topic brought up made the atmosphere even more gloomy. It was clear, Alina was getting gloomy whether it was from her attitude or the look in her eyes.
Hearing Nathan being offered by the Hunter's Guild caused Alina to misunderstand in a relatively short time, even though Nathan had not yet said what the offer was. When compared between Alina and the Hunter's Guild, of course it was more promising the Hunter's Guild.
And, Alina thought of things that made her feel unnecessary worry because it wasn't necessarily what she thought she heard as soon as Nathan said what he was going to say.
“This person called Commander Dadan offered me a good position in the Hunter's Guild. I don't know why, but I sense a hidden intent from it. Even so, he seems like a good person and there's no way what he meant was anything bad…” Nathan explained.
Even though Nathan wasn't very good at handling situations like this, or rather he wasn't sensitive enough, he was pretty good at guessing a few things.
Back then, it was still inside the Monster Gate. In order to gain power from Moona, Commander Dadan took an alternative route by using Nathan to give him an offer that everyone would expect. A high position in the Hunter's Guild was indeed tantalizing to everyone. You see, no need to bother to get rich, the money will continue to flow. While the energy used, just a little bit. Commander Dadan's aim was good, but he was a naive person.
As Vampire Lord, Nathan has always been a neutral party. By adhering to his principles, he refused the offer which was not a tempting thing for him.
Indeed, with his current involvement in Alina's affairs, Nathan seemed to be on her side. He just felt it needed to be done. Whether because of the previous incident, Nathan's view of Alina and Aisyah was good. It is only the deepest impulse to protect the weak.
The difference between Nathan who sided with Alina and a group was clearly visible. Without him, a group has each other to work together through life. As for Alina? She is even just a little girl who has a noble goal, which is to fight herself and her mother's life.
Alina is a pitiful creature who needs a strong figure like Nathan, and Nathan knows how to use his powers.
'Miss Alina is a unique human being. Somehow she can attract the attention of many people of the opposite sex, but it puts her peaceful life at risk. But because of that, maybe I came to save her at that time...' Nathan said to himself.
Even for a Vampire Lord, Nathan felt something strange in his heart. Like, there is a gentle force that attracts him to act according to what the gentle power wants without exerting coercion, but rather like a worker ant obeying their queen's orders.
Alina was silent after hearing that Nathan had rejected the offer from the Hunter's Guild. Don't know how she should react, what is clear right now is that her heart feels relieved to the point of wanting to cry.
A few minutes of silence after Nathan announced that he had not accepted the offer from the Hunter's Guild, Alina finally spoke.
