His kiss took only a second before he moved away. Still, it feels so soft against mine that it felt numb. I didn’t even close my eyes as I was still astonished by his sudden move. His gray eyes stared back at me, with ferocity in it. “Denver…” He moved closer again, this time his eyes are staring down at my lips. He removed his grip on my wrist and hold my cheeks, softly caressing them. His thumb then went its way to my lips. And here I am, still in my place, can’t even think what he’s doing to me. “You have soft lips, Sharmienne...” he said, almost like a whisper. “that I want to kiss it again.” My cheeks flushed when our eyes met. The intensity of his gaze was getting stronger. I can’t even understand why I found it hot, instead of shivering with too much nervousness. My eyes went down to its lips and saw him sensually biting it. He licked it after that it made him hotter with it. He pulled me closer to him and with one swift move, we both sit down on his bed, his back already leaning on the headboard. His hand supports my back as I sit on his lap. I was holding his shoulders as our faces are just a few inches away from each other. My cheeks blushed profusely at our position. “Tell me… Can I kiss you?” I gradually nodded with my eyes closed, and as if on cue, he moved closer and claimed my lips again. It was a soft, tender kiss at first until his lips deliberately move. While I don’t even know what to do. I just parted my lips as he kiss me. I tried to copy his move and all I can hear was his soft groan as he deepened the kiss. I was slowly enjoying his lips kissing mine when I accidentally bit his lower lip. I got carried away excessively. I heard his tiny whimper while claiming mine, but he didn’t even move a bit. He continued kissing me and I can’t help but let him take my sanity with his lips. He stopped when he felt me almost out of breath. He moved his face and stared at me before he planted a kiss on my forehead, down to my nose then on my both cheeks. He settle me on the bed and carefully lay me down. A few strands of hair covered my hair and he blow it away. I closed my eyes as I felt his minty whiff on my skin. It was ticklish. All I know is I felt intoxicated by his touch. It was my first kiss, to be honest. And I am more than satisfied that I did it with Denver. He buried his head on my neck and give me soft kisses on it. His arms caged my whole body as we both lay down on the bed. It feels comfortable and at the same time foreign to me. All my life, I am always sleeping alone and sometimes, besides my sister. But now, with him. It’s different. A more mysterious feeling and I am fine with it. “I’m getting addicted to your warmth…your kisses… I miss you already.” I heard him whisper. “I should hate you but here I am being smitten with your cuteness.” He added as he touched my cheeks and suddenly pinched them. “Why are you always saying that you hate me?” I asked, even though he’s doing the exact opposite. His words contradict his actions. “A reminder for myself.” “Reminder?” He sighed. “I can’t deny this attraction I have for you, young lady,” he mumbled and leave tiny kisses in the space between my neck and shoulder blade. I almost moan when I felt him stop. “Just let me think that I hate you so that I have a reason to not fall so easily when that time comes.” A part of me was crushed by what he said. He’s afraid to take risks, and so I am. But I know what he is doing. He’s always giving me mixed signals but here I am, being blind to him. This is what they mean by ‘love is blind?’ On contrary, I just like him. I’m attracted to him, but not enough to be in love. I’m sure this is just ‘crush’, ‘like’ or ‘infatuation’ that they say. I have time to back out if I want to. Because it is hard to take risks with this kind of man. “I’m sorry, I kissed you.” “It’s okay,” I mumbled as I ruffles his gray crew-cut hair. It feels delicate against my palm. “You looked good with your hair color.” “Uh-huh?” he muttered, looking amused. I nodded. “I've thought you like achromatic colors, that's why I did it.” I blushed and pursed my lips but he chuckled when he saw it. “Cute,” he mumbled as he looked up. “Why did you miss me?” I asked, diverting the topic. “Why not?” He stared at me as if I asked a stupid question. I bit my lips as I felt a bit conscious. He might saw my double chin! “I understand that you’ve got busy, Denver.” I continue caressing his hair down to his nape. I saw him close his eyes with my gesture. His muscles flexed which is very visible with the sleeveless shirt paired with jogging pants that he’s wearing right now. “My friend got injured. I need to leave immediately.” I stilled and stopped messing with his hair. I heard him sigh. I glanced at him and met his gray eyes. “I’m sorry, Sharmienne.” His bruise near the eyebrows looked swollen already. I immediately got up, but he stopped me from doing so. He eyed me with a confused look. I pointed to his face with my forehead furrowed. How can I almost have forgotten about that? “You have a facial contusion,” I muttered but his eyebrows creased. “Facial-what? What the h*ck is that?” “A bruise.” I was about to stand up again but all I can hear is chuckles as he buried his face back in my neck that which shudders me. I think it’s his favorite thing now. “I’ll get some ice.” I pushed him onto the bed before I hastily went to the kitchen. After I got what I need, I gave it to him which he willingly takes. He even flashed me his smirk as he’s applying the icebag to his bruise. He looks like he is used to dealing with himself and that he didn’t need my help. I was just sitting beside him, fussing about what happened. I heard from Sean Elijah’s background earlier that there were gunshots. He looked like in pain earlier. And Denver helped him, but he also got into trouble. I was just staring at Denver when his eyes met my gaze. He smirks at me, but it faded when he knew that I was serious and bothered. “Don’t worry, it’s just nothing. I always get this,” he reassured. “I’m still handsome, right?” He smirks. “What happened, Denver?” I asked as I gaped at his small bruise. I can’t help but get worried. He shrugged, “Just some fight.” “Fight? You've hurt yourself!” “You can’t expect me to just do nothing, young lady.” He kept his smile, but his voice turned a bit serious. “You’ve heard the gunshots, right?” I nodded. He removed his gaze from me and stood up while I was looking up at him. “Forget what you’ve heard. It’s nothing.” He walked towards the door and before he closed it, he muttered, “Good night.” As soon as he closed the door, my body collapsed on the bed. I sighed and slowly closed my eyes with the sudden interaction with him. Quite unexpected and with sudden realizations. We kissed! I suddenly opened my eyes. It just sinks in right now and I can’t help but touch my lips with my fingers. I was even pinching it every time I remember how his lips were so soft against it. I covered my face with my pillow before I scream at it. Denver kissed me! My first kiss! But remembering that I bit his lower lip, my screams subsided. I sat up straight while leaning on the headboard and felt ashamed that I don’t know how to kiss back. I should practice so that I am prepared when he kisses me again. He might get his lips cut. I laid my back on the bed and turned off the light. I should check his lips first thing when I saw him tomorrow. With that thought in mind, I closed my eyes with a smile creeping on my lips before dazing off to sleep.
