Luke opened his heavy eyelids just to find himself in a white room. Where am I? He groaned and sat up. He glanced around and realized that he was in a hospital ward.
"Hospital?", he muttered. Wait. "Sister! Juliet! " he remembered the incident abruptly and came down from the bed. He only had plasters on his hands and his clothes were changed. Luke rushed out of the room just to bump into Dad.
"You're awake." Dad sighed in relief.
Luke didn't care and asked frantically, "Dad where's Chloe? How's Juliet doing?"
"Luke just calm down. You just woke up." Dad held him back.
"You know I can't calm down Dad. Both of them were shot. I don't know what happened to them afterward. " Luke cried. Dad nodded and led him to another ward.
"Chloe!" He called out and rushed inside. The young lady was still 'sleeping' in a wardrobe and had a cast on her left arm. Luke sniffed and held her bed staring at her helplessly.
"She was in a traumatic state when we found her. The doctors had to give her a sedative to calm her down." Dad explained silently. He was devastated seeing his daughter calling out for her mother, brother, and sister. He was in a meeting when an alert went on his phone. All his kid's cars had an emergency alert and after checking it was Luke's car that was beeping non-stop. Probably the car was being tampered with. Dad quickly left the meeting and alerted the police.
When they arrived, it was already late as his three kids were lying unconscious on the ground. The ambulance rushed them back to the hospital after first aid. Chloe only got a scratch from the bullet but Juliet had to go through surgery as the bullet hit her abdomen very close to her ribs. Luckily, none of her organs was injured. Nevertheless, she lost a lot of blood and according to the doctor was in a temporary coma. Luke was the least injured and woke up after Chloe's session. It was already 10 PM now.
Luke inhaled deeply and asked carefully, "Dad where's Juliet?" His heart beat faster even when asking the question.
"Come with me." Dad grabbed his hand strongly and walked him to the closest ward. Dad tapped his shoulder encouragingly and left for Chloe where he met Hugo and his mum.
Luke inhaled deeply before opening the door. He immediately broke down seeing the state Juliet was in. She had an oxygen tube,  a drip on her wrist, and a cast around her head. His heart ached to remember what Dad told him before he left. A temporary coma?
Luke choked on his tears and sat on the chair near the bed grabbing her hand tightly.
"Love I'm sorry you had to go through this. Why did this have to happen? I can't bare to lose you. Please wake up quickly. Please. " he cried his head lowered. Everything was going perfectly but this had to happen.
Meanwhile
Hugo was adjusting Chloe's pillow when she started shaking her head.
"Where's my brother? Sister? Help them!" She cried out.
"Chloe calm down. Chloe. ", he said softly rubbing her cheeks. Her eyes sprang open and she grabbed his wrist crying.
"Where's my brother and sister? Hugo how are they doing?", she cried struggling.
"Chloe you need to calm down. Your right hand is still hurt." He added and sealed her lips with a tight kiss. Tears streamed down her cheeks and her breathing steadied. Hugo pulled back and caressed her hair.
"Hugo please take me to them." She pleaded. He nodded and helped her up. She grimaces from the pain in her arm and is supported outside the room. They came to Juliet's wardroom and entered. Luke had his head on their interlocked sniffing silently.
Chloe closed her mouth crying more seeing Juliet and called out. "Brother. "
Luke raised his head and turned around revealing his puffed and red eyes.
"Sister." He went over and hugged her.
"You're okay. I'm glad you're okay. But Juliet. She......sister she....." he cried stuttering. Chloe tapped his back with her free hand sobbing too.
"Brother she will be fine. Trust her okay?" She muttered and he nodded. He pulled back and wiped his tears. She also wiped his eyes and they walked to the bed again. Hugo sighed watching this. Everything seemed like a dream to him. He almost lost Chloe. Dad came with the doctor to check on Juliet and Chloe had to go back to be examined too. She fell asleep after eating some food. Luke refused to eat despite Dad's persistence and slept in the wardroom.
The next day, miss Lan came to the hospital. They persuaded Luke to go and change and then eat something while she watched after Juliet. He had to comply and did as he was told. Chloe got discharged the same day and Hugo took her home to freshen up and get things they needed in the hospital.
Luke sat down beside Juliet as he stared at her lovingly. He's stopped crying and was praying for her recovery. He knew she wouldn't want him to break down. It'd been an hour since their friends came to visit them and he had to instruct the general manager to take care of the company for a while. He had seen some police around the hospital but hadn't asked Dad about the matter yet.
Luke kissed Juliet's hand and nodded at miss Lan who was on the other side before going to Dad.
"Who did it Dad?", he asked coldly.
"The camera on your car captured the image of the masked men and they were identified as hired hitmen. There's a striking connection with the man that attacked Juliet first." Dad answered. "Mr. Shi is already in jail and hiring those men is very expensive, only one person can do that. "
Luke scoffed and said, " I wouldn't want to believe this before but she's crossed the line by harming Juliet. She must have gone crazy to plan on killing us all!"
"Luke. I haven't let the police question you guys because I wanted you to calm down first but you can now right?", Dad inquired and Luke nodded.
Luke strongly suspected Susan. She once assisted her father in infiltrating the Cheng industry and had a grudge against them too. She also threatened Juliet before the first attack. He thought she wasn't part of the crime as her father said and hoped she wasn't but what happened cleared his eyes. Only Susan could still have the hitmen's contact. Come to think of it, Mr shi just scared Mr. Cheng's daughter, but left his son out of the matter while his accomplice's daughter was almost killed. Susan was obsessed with Luke, so she wouldn't want to harm him but she also hated Juliet.
The police were immediately sent to investigate Susan and the matter became more complicated as she wasn't found at home or the company. The last footage she was found in was her hitting a maid and changing into her clothes. This just confirmed she was guilty but she was being chased after now.
Chloe shook her head angrily hearing the info. Her sister was lying there unconscious because of that lunatic. It seemed Susan was well prepared and she still wasn't spotted the whole day.
The good news that day was when the doctor informed them that Juliet was responding faster than expected. She could breathe naturally and the blood infusion was over. The only thing that remained was for her to wake up.
5 PM
Luke just spoke with the doctor and went back to his fiancee. Miss Lan had gone home to change while Dad visited a therapist with Chloe. The lady needed it as she was still traumatized by the incident.
Luke signed and caress Juliet's cheeks with his fingers. He smiled faintly and said, "Julie, you have to wake up sooner okay? We're going to get married soon so don't keep me waiting okay love?"
All that filled the room was silent. He stood up and approached her face.
"You said a kiss can wake a princess up. It should work on you too right?" He smiled and kissed her lips gently.
An abrupt pain at the back of his head made him a jerk. He held his head and turn around just to see a nurse with a face mask holding an iron rod. The face was covered but he recognized her eyes.
"Susan." He muttered before his vision went blank and he fainted on the ground.
"You brought this upon yourself, Luke." She spat and went to Juliet. She pulled the drip out and raised her. Quickly, she struggled to push her into the cart she came in with and rushed outside. She wheeled the cart downstairs and sighted Dad entering the elevator with Chloe. Their gaze met with Chloe and the latter squinted her eyes. Susan quickly lowered her head and ran to the basement. She opened her car and pushed Juliet inside before driving away.
Dad and Chloe came to Juliet's room and were surprised to see him on the ground. Juliet was also missing. Dad angrily went out to check the policemen guarding the door but they were standing like zombies. A single push and they collapsed down.
"Brother. Brother!" Chloe slapped Luke's cheek waking him up. He groaned and opened his eyes.
He quickly stood up and paled at the sight of the empty bed. Dad had rushed in with the officers.
"Susan. She took Juliet away!"
