Twenty Three

Chapter 18
***
---- Malisa ----
I was quite Suprised and shocked to see Mary in my room all of a sudden in the middle of the night.
I was confused especially when I saw her face red hot with anger but despite it, she spoke softly and very politely to me.
' Who made her this angry? ' I couldn't help but wonder. I had always known Mary to be a very calm girl so well...
She slept next to me on the bed and surprisingly she fell asleep the minute her head hit the cushion.
It seemed like she had been asleep before but woke up all of a sudden to what I don't know...
I also fell asleep not too long after she did and woke up to the ringing of my alarm clock. I at first wanted to apologize for disturbing her sleep but she surprisingly smiled at me, " Why do you set your alarm clock for 6 am? " She asked me.
" Well, it's for my morning prayers. " I replied her.
" Oh, can I join you? " She asked with twinkling eyes.
' Where's the girl who was red hot with anger yesterday? ' I thought.
" You can. " I told her as I proceeded to kneel beside my bed, she joined me and soon we began praying.

Since Mary had gone to school I was now alone in my room all over again and I couldn't help but recall what happened yesterday night.
How I went down to get water and how I almost fell, how I was saved.
The masculine scent, His eyes, and everything else.
I felt my heart beating rapidly in my chest for the first time.
Did I smile remembering his stares, and his voice?
Oh, I'll like to hear it all over again.
I felt my face grow hot, oh what am I feeling now?
What's this feeling?
I was confused.
Then I remembered Sis Gabriella's words about This.
<< Malisa, it's normal for young growing girls like us to feel attracted to the opposite sex on first meeting especially if the latter is nice and caring. >>
<< It's this feeling of attraction that sometimes grows into love if the feeling is well nurtured and if it doesn't then it might just remain as attraction or just fade away. >>
So is what I am feeling just mere attraction or what?
But, why do I feel this? I thought I would never be attracted to someone so why all of a sudden.
Then I remembered his eyes, they contained a lot of emotions Though I wasn't able to tell which one is which as they were all mixed up together.
Though I was sure I saw Care there.

Daily I read at least two books but today I wasn't even able to focus on reading as I just can't get him out of my mind.
Anytime I close my eyes, his face is always the first thing appearing in my mind. " What's going on with me? " I thought.
Why do I suddenly feel infatuated with someone?
***
" Hey, Sis Malisa. What are you thinking so deeply about? " Mary's fairy-like voice got to my ears breaking me out of my thoughts.
" Oh, Sorry. What were you saying? " I asked.
" I was talking about whether we should go shopping this weekend or not. "
" Oh, do you think it's a good idea to go shopping, this weekend? "
" Of course I do. It's been a while since I had gone on one since my brother always refuse to let me go alone due to that and that... " She blabbed.
" You are going to ask for his permission this time right? "
" Of course but well, that would be after we settle our differences.."
" Differences? Did you and your brother argue last night? " I asked curiously.
" We did. " She replied Simply.
" Why? What did you guys argue about? "
" Well... " I could see the hesitation in her eyes.
" You promised to tell me about it, remember? "
" I did.. "
" So? "
" But before I tell you, you'll have to promise me something. "
" Shoot. " I urged her.
" You'll have to tell me the reason why you've been so lost since morning, will you? "
" Umm... Well. " I hesitated, it'd be quite awkward to tell her about what happened, or so I thought.
" Oh? Then I won't tell you the reason why my brother and I argued. " She said crossing her hands on her chest.
We were currently in my room, sitting opposite each other on my bed while this discussion going on.
" Alright, I'll. " I relented, Finally.
" Okay. The reason my brother and I fought is that he doesn't care about his health. Imagine not sleeping up to 5hrs daily! Does he think he's a robot who can work non-stop without breaking? " She ranted angrily.
" Calm down Mary.." I urged her as I reached out to hold her hands.
She began to cool down and when I realized that she was now calm, I spoke up. " I know that you are very angry at your brother because he doesn't care about his health as you do, but you have to understand him too. He might also have his reasons for not resting for the number of hours required. "
" I am aware of that but shouldn't he prioritize his health above other things? "
" Umm.. you are right. Why don't you talk this out with him when he gets back? "
" Gets back? In the middle of the night? I would have fallen asleep then. "
" I have a feeling that he's going to get back early from work today. " I told her.
" Really? " Her eyes twinkled like stars.
" I am not completely certain about it though. Like I told you, it's just a feeling. "
" Umm.. by the way. Why don't you tell me about what you have been hiding? "
" Hiding? I am not hiding anything. "
" I am sure you know what I am talking about, Sis. "
" Okay, well... " I told her everything that happened from last night to the present time and when I was done...
She covered her mouth in shock and soon exclaimed. " Oh my God! Are you sure that yesterday night was real? "
I almost laughed out loud when I heard her. How is it possible that we thought the same?
" It was real, Mary. " I assured her.
" I am still Suprised Though. I never expected my blank-faced brother to turn out to be that caring towards you without me urging him to. " She sighed.
" I feel the same too. Anyways, I guess it's time for you to study, Mary. " I told her.
" Can't I do that tomorrow? " She whined.
" No you can't, you gotta have to study daily to remain at the top of your class. " I told her strictly.
" You are starting to sound like a mother, Sis! " She protested.
" Well, I don't mind sounding or being like a mother as long as I make you do the right thing! "
" Alright, alright. I'll go study now. Happy now? "
" Good. " I replied with a smile.
While Mary went over to study in the quietness of her room. I proceeded to study a literature book I found randomly on the shelf in my room.
Surprisingly, I was able to concentrate fully on studying this time. Perhaps it's because I had poured my heart out to someone.
No wonder the famous Quote stated that a problem shared is half solved.
I couldn't help but agree more at this point.
