Chapter 67 HOPING TO SEE YOU 2.
Brian arrived safely and gave Julie a call. He does that every time he was away while driving off to his suite. The conference had gone well as he was awarded the business man of the year alongside another woman whose representative was avail for the award. He was to have an official meeting with her though, but haven't figured out the right time. The few days he had spent here made him home sick as the only thing he does was creating innovations and ideas for a new endorsement.
It was a day to Christmas, and he had stopped by a grocery shop close by when suddenly bumped into someone whose items fell to the ground.
“Sorry” he apologized helping her up and as his hands touched her, he felt a cold shuddered run through his spine and when Brian raised his head to see who it was, she was gone. He shrugged his shoulder and walked into the shop, however, Brian realized his wallet was gone.
“Damn it!” he cursed, running out to see if he could get a hold of this being. It was rather too late because searching for her was vain.
“Thief!” He mused as he set his eyes on a woman walking hastily at a distance. Brian ran after her, she glanced at him, confused at why he was running after her. He got close to her and grabbed her hand.
“I caught you now! Thief” he barked, and she struggled out of his grip.
“Let me go!” She ordered. The woman wore a nose mask as only her eyes were visible, while the large hat on her head almost made her face invisible.
“I could spare you from getting arrested…just comply” he ordered, collecting the bag from her as he searched her luggage for his wallet.
“Hey!” A voice thundered, pacing towards him. From the being appearance, he looked like a bodyguard. Brian ignores him as the lady kicked his leg with her heels, making him to refrain his hold on her wrist.
“Boss…” The man called, and she beckoned on him to get him arrested as she was had fury in her eyes.
Brian submitted his ID to the officer and apologized for the misunderstanding. Perhaps, he must have picked his wallet along with her goods while helping the lady. He took a glimpse at her and then suddenly felt his heart skipped fast. A car halted beside her as this woman's bodyguard escorted her from behind. He tried to guess whom she might be from her appearance yet no clue and just headed back. Brian felt unrest as this woman made him think about miss Lucy, he couldn't see her face clearly, yet her eyes were similar. He attempted to shove the idea away, nevertheless, his guts kept telling him that this woman might be somewhat related to him. Julie's call came through and both father and daughter chatted for the day. He was invited by a colleague for a get-together on eve at her apartment, he wasn't intending to go, but Julie triggered him to besides, he had just been busy with work that he hardly spent time for himself.
“Alright dad bye… I've got things to do, guess you're not the only one occupied!” She teased, and he smiled as she terminated the call.
Brian dressed in his casual and left for Mirabel's home. They had met sometimes at Los Angeles and formed business alliance together. She was glad to see him but the most excited was her daughter who was a secret admirer of Brian and always wished to have a private time with him, which meant she wasn't going to let this moment pass her by.
“Merry Christmas Eve” she saluted, taking away Brian from her mother's sight.
“Same” he responded with a charming smile that caused butterflies in her belly.
“I've heard a lot about you from mother and wow… meeting you for the first is incredible” she praised leading him to where the others were at the garden which was decorated with Christmas trees and light.
“Thanks and I must say…you are a beauty… leaving behind your wealth for the less privileged…”
She blushed at all the praises he rendered her as they both discussed buisness. Well, their speech was cut short at the announcement of a guest arrival. Everyone was pleased she could make it for the get-together.
“She's here” Abigail mused as Brian grimace wondering why this woman's stared with jealousy. He also wasn't interested in seeing who it was that everyone spoke highly about because the whole place was becoming rowdy. Brian walked away from where he sat and strolled around the area, observing the environment.
“Would you mind if I walk with you?” Abigail requested putting on her gloves as he nodded.
“Why aren't you with the others?” He asked and she sighed.
“Noise” she confessed walking beside him.
“Mother loves such fun, but man… I'm engrossed with loads of responsibilities” she furthered, and he gave a wry smile.
“Sometimes…you should spare time for yourself… because you wouldn't want to collapse before achieving your dreams” he advised, and she bites her lips.
“Tell me about you…are just based on the business aspect or there are still some charming features I'm yet to see?” She questioned, gazing at the icy ground as they walked together.
“Well I'm yet to know too” he responded with no emotions, and she chuckled.
“It's okay…we would discover that soon”
Her phone beamed which made her scoffed.
“I guess mom wants us back” she fussed, and he faked a smile.
“Why don't you back..? I would come along soon” he beckoned as she walked away. He wasn't intending to spend much time here and was just going to tell Mirabel that he would take his leave soon after all, it was only Julie that compelled him to be at this party or else, he would have died of boredom in his suite.
“Excuse me?” A voice interrupted his thought.Download Novelah App
