Mr. Brock sighed, a weary sound that barely registered above the evening hum. "Sweetheart, it's nothing serious. Just some trouble brewing with a gang a few blocks over. Backup was requested, so I had to rush down." He accepted the food pack from Mrs. Julie, his gaze lingering on her worried expression. "How long have you been waiting?" "Close to thirty minutes," she replied, a hint of exasperation in her voice. Mr. Brock turned to the offering. "Wow. French dip and Mediterranean gem salad. Quite the combination." He raised an eyebrow at Mrs. Julie. "You certainly took your time, huh?" "Kind of," she admitted. "It's getting late. I should probably head home." She adjusted her bag, a subtle signal that she was ready to leave. "Come on, there aren't any cabs around at this hour, and I can't let you walk home alone," Mr. Brock protested, rising to his feet. Mrs. Julie’s lips curved into a playful smile. "Well, if you insist, how about you hand over your car keys?" He chuckled, a low rumble in his chest. "Hmm, you can have them. You're worth it." He pulled the keys from his pocket and extended them to her. "Thanks. See you tomorrow," Mrs. Julie said, taking the keys and heading toward the exit. The scent of her perfume lingered for a moment after she was gone. " (Sighs) I guess that's in return for this delicious food." Mr Brock said to himself as he continued his meal. **Next Day** The next morning, Mr. Brock found himself hailing a cab. His car was conspicuously absent from the driveway. *She really needs a car.*, he thought with a hint of resignation, turning on the television as he entered the apartment. *Ring ring* *Ring ring* He answered his phone, a flicker of annoyance in his eyes. "Hello...Twist. No one calls me with an unknown number. How many times do I have to save your contact?" A gruff voice responded, "Three more to go." "Why are you even in a rush, you're only going to make waste in your haste." Mr. Brock sighed gently. "So, what's it this time?" "Tomorrow being Saturday, we're bringing in weapons..." "Sooo how does that concern me, do I have a part in that to play?" Mr. Brock interrupted, his voice sharp. "No, you don't, if you are going to rise up to my seat then everything concerns you. In other words you are going to be informed of every damn activity your men carry out." Twist said angrily. Taking a deep breath he continued; "and for the fourth operation, we wanna rob a bank and as the final one, burn the bank down to the ground." "Wow wow wow! Wait! You're gonna rob a bank and burn it down, in whose request?" Mr. Brock asked, a knot of unease tightening in his stomach. "That's an order from the overlord, if we can steal up to a billion dollars before burning it down then consider yourself a boss of this local rank gang." Twist explained. "That's daunting but it's easier said than done and besides what rank will you be promoted to?" "Obviously, a state gang leader while the current one rises up to the overlord's chamber but of course, only if we succeed first unless other local gang would get promoted. "I'm really going to get my hands dirty but with how serious you are to rise up in rank I can't say no." Mr. Brock replied. "Well then, you're in." Twist said, hanging up the phone. Brock sat on the couch, staring at the blank screen of the television. "(Breaths out) what am I doing?" Mr. Brock asked himself, laying on the couch. "Still don't know why we have to burn down the bank, I guess that's what makes them a bad gang." **At Mrs. Julie's Restaurant** "Not trying to pry, but when are you and your husband gonna have kids?" Kelvin asked, wiping down the counter. Mrs. Julie bristled slightly. "First of all, that ain't your business, but well, it's left for my husband to do what he wants when he wants it, you don't want me to start pressuring him for sex and what about your girlfriend?" Mrs. Julie replied, trying to change the subject. "Which girlfriend?" Kelvin asked, looking at Mrs. Julie in a confused way. "The one that comes to see you...is it every first week of the month?" Mrs. Julie replied. "Come on, that's my cousin. They live at the countryside so she visits me once in a month, you know, to say hi." Kelvin replied. "Really! For someone from the countryside, she's really hot," Mrs. Julie commented, squinting slightly. "I know what you're doing, so just stop." Kelvin said, giving out an order. "But I actually have someone I'm crushing on, but you ladies can't just take a hint." "Want me to lecture you on that?" "Well, if you want me to get married soon. Would you be around tomorrow?" Kelvin asked. "Hmm no, I'd need to go to the bank and withdraw some cash. Our rent is expiring next week, and I really don't want my landlady's headache," Mrs. Julie replied. "What time do you plan on going?" Kelvin asked. "Probably 5pm since I'd have to return back here, I'll use that as my break." "Going to the bank at such time could be dangerous, you know." "Yeah I know but my husband should be resuming duty by then so it's gonna be safe." "If you say so." **Saturday Afternoon** On Saturday at around 4:30pm Mr Brock received a call. "Hey, Mr. Twist," Mr. Kelvin said. "Are you on duty now?" Twist asked. "Not yet, it's still 4:30pm" Mr. Brock replied, looking at his wristwatch. "Can't you just take charge?" "It'd be suspicious if I take charge immediately and things go wrong, you have to wait." "The trucks, are they gone?" "Which trucks?" Mr. Brock asked in a confused tone. "The trucks transferring the money to ER bank," Twist replied. "I don't recall you telling me about that." "Do I need to, it's not like you have a specific role to play." "Well then suit yourself, I can't get suspicious but I'm pretty sure before they get here and offload the money, I'd have resume my duty." Mr. Brock informed and hung up. At 5:15pm, the trucks had arrived and were almost done offloading the money. Mr. Brock got a message saying; 'The mission has started' and next he got a call from someone else, his wife, Mrs. Julie. "Hello sweetie." "Honey have you started your shift?" "Yeah, why?" "Alright, I actually went to ER bank to withdraw money for the rent expiration next week," Mrs. Julie replied but there a long silence in the call. "Hello?" "Where did you say you are?" Mr. Brock asked, his breathing was getting faster and faster. "Honey, I said I'm at the bank right no..." "Damn! you have to leave there immediately," Mr. Brock shouted. "Honey, come on tell me what going on." Mrs. Julie asked in fear. "You're scaring the hell out of me." Brock's mind raced. He was trapped. Caught between his loyalty (however tenuous) to Twist and the very real threat to his wife. "Shit shit shit shit! What do I do now?" Mr. Brock shouted in anger. "Just get the fucking hell out of.... Sweetie, sweetie, no no no no no, say something, come on say something." From the other side of the street, people were running away from the bank as they panic in fear, it was obvious to Mr. Brock that the operation had started. Just few minutes ago in the bank as Mrs Julie was making her call four guys broke through the window. They were putting on mask which was written on it; '18th' and carrying some bad-ass gun. "Everybody on your knees, if you fucking move an inch you're dead. We just need all the money offloaded minutes ago immediately, who's in charge?" One of the guys shouted. A man gently rose his hand up. "What are you waiting for, get to work you son of a bitch." Another one of the boys shouted. Mr. Brock who was afraid of what might happen picked up his phone and dialed Twist's number. "Hey Twist, I need you to stop the fucking damn operation, right now," Mr. Brock shouted. "Mr. night watcher, you're mistaken. Those aren't our own gang, I think someone leaked out the operation strategy." "Wh...what do you mean someone leaked out the operation strategy, how will a gang from another local government know about our strategy?" ..... ....
