Chapter 30 : Between Life and Blood ; The Finale

A figure appeared beside him. A woman in white robes. Face covered. Voice ageless.
“The living cannot stay,” she said. “And the dead cannot return.”
Seina stepped between them. “Then I’ll take him back through me. My blood. My body. My soul.”
The woman hesitated.
“You would trade your place among the living?”
“I’d trade everything.”
Kaydence grabbed her hand. “No. Not this.”
But she already knew the price.
And she was already paying it.
Her body lit up—veins glowing with flame, heart thundering with old magic and love that refused to die.
The Veil screamed.
And Kaydence gasped—
As life rushed back into him.
The mirror exploded behind them.
They fell through.
Back into the ruined world.
Together.
Alive.
Changed.
And when Kaydence opened his eyes.
Seina collapsed into his arms.
“You idiot,” he whispered.
“You’re welcome,” she breathed.
And in the distance, a new sun rose.
Over a world reborn.
Storm clouds rolled over the eastern coast as Seina stood at the edge of the ruined citadel, the taste of ash still fresh on her tongue. Behind her, Kaydence stood silent, one hand resting on the hilt of his blade, the other clutching the phoenix crest torn from the chest of a fallen Vulture.
They had lost too much.
The Bone Crown was gone, shattered into oblivion. Annora’s blood had dried into the stones. But the war was not yet over.
“East,” Kaydence said. “They’ve gathered in the old capital.”
Seina nodded. “That’s where it ends.”
Miro stepped out of the shadows, bloodied but alive.
“The Veritas Circle... what’s left of it... they’ll follow you. They’ve seen what you are.”
“What I am,” Seina whispered, “is done running.”
She looked to Kaydence. “It’s time we take back the throne.”
He hesitated. “And if it kills us?”
“Then we die free.”
The city of Virelle was drowning in shadow. Banners of the Vultures fluttered like bleeding ghosts over the palace walls. The streets were empty, the people hiding behind locked doors. Everyone knew the storm had come.
And at its eye—Seina.
Her hair was pulled back, the last embers of the Bone Crown’s magic etched into the skin beneath her eyes like molten veins. She wore no armor—just the cloak of her mother’s house, stitched in red and silver.
At her side, Kaydence walked like a blade unsheathed. Silent. Focused. Deadly.
The gates of the palace burst open.
Inside waited the last of the Vulture generals, a throne carved from bones, and a man cloaked in crow feathers—the true architect of the Veritas Circle’s downfall.
“Seina Sallow,” he said. “Or should I say, Scarlet Veil.”
She didn’t flinch. “Your time is over.”
The final battle was not long.
It was legend.
Steel clashed. Walls collapsed. Fire rained from the rafters. Kaydence faced the Vulture captain who had betrayed his blood oath, while Seina met the bone-cloaked king in single combat.
“You’re nothing without your crown,” he sneered.
“I never needed the crown,” she said, striking with the fury of every scar she carried. “I am the heir. I am the fire.”
When it was done—when the palace lay in ruins and the banners burned—Seina stood on the broken throne.
Kaydence climbed the stairs to meet her, blood on his lips, but pride in his eyes.
“What now, Scarlet?” he asked.
She took his hand. “Now we live. Thank you staying and for never giving up on me Kay. Now let's cherish this moment together you and me in this beautiful chaos. I hope we remain strong as we face all the problem that is coming to us. I know this is not the end but let's live our life to the fullest my man :) ''
