Chapter 15 - The Farewell

Darkin decides to say his last words:
"I’m not going to die, no fucking way." His eyes turn grey.
A wave of valuable memories from the past floods his mind at tsunami speed. He sees his wife in the hospital, in intense labor pains, unable to breathe naturally. He follows the entire process, supporting his partner until she gives birth to a girl.
"Girl of my eyes," Darkin pronounces the words.
His greatest wish had always been to have a girl, and holding her in his arms made him feel more alive, as though he had been reborn. A lightness resided and still resides within him when the girl's eyes come into his view.
The smile of the mother gave him more reasons to embrace life in a raw and true way, with acts of kindness before being corrupted by politics.
When his girl was born, another kind of love grew in his core. The memories race at a speed that matches the rhythm of the events around him and his own situation.
He remembers the words of his brother, Ashlem:
"Find your family, I feel it, you can still hold on."
"I can't take long. I have to save them." Darkin says to himself.
Then he screams with all the strength in his lungs when, unfortunately, unable to bear the weight of his own body any longer, his hands are ripped away by the chain. Blood pours torrentially, and the crowd celebrates the death that is about to happen, the death of the man who decimated a large portion of the population of Moamba.
The hands swaying from side to side, letting the blood spill, are like trophies for all those who wanted the vengeance they call justice. Darkin falls in a slow and eternal motion, no longer feeling physical pain, but another type of pain, and he swears that he cannot die before saving his wife and daughter, who may be somewhere trapped, according to Ashlem's words, when interpreted correctly.
The fall of the man brings great satisfaction to all who watch with palpable fury. Darkin no longer feels his hands, as they were torn off and are now above, trophies for all those watching with pleasure. It seems like a spectacle being observed, but in reality, it is the death of someone who deserves to perish, for he is the cause of all the suffering in the cursed land.
Something starts to grunt in the skies, but no one pays attention. Everyone is focused on eliminating the man who invited the Zralkies to planet Earth.
Suddenly, Lorfy appears, flying towards Darkin to save him. The expressions of the population in search of justice change when they see that smart car trying to prevent Darkin's death, which is only a few meters from falling onto the blades prepared on the surface. One of the policemen there begins shooting at the car, and as a result, a failure in the Lorfy's system caused by low energy in the machine causes the car to shut off and explode in the air, near Darkin's body, which was already growing weaker from the bleeding.
An agonizing silence hangs in the air, then the car falls to the surface in pieces. Everyone looks at the ground, where the blades wait for Darkin to perish upon them, but they see nothing. Not even a part of the body of the most hated man in Moamba.
Questions echo everywhere:
"What happened, what happened?"
But one certainty fills the air — that he was torn apart by the explosion of his own car, and that the police officer's shots somehow hit him. Then, as if they had coordinated it, they clap. Some shout, and soon everyone shouts the same thing:
"Justice has been served."
The area where they are is one of the most visited by the Zralkies. They don't care anymore, for they are doing what they always wanted in life since the Zralkies came from another planet.
Something in the distance begins to roar with an annoying sound that causes a slight headache. Some in the large crowd hear it and warn the others, only to start moving in a disorganized way to escape after the second loud and strong roar. But it’s too late, for when they turn towards the roar, they see a massive group of Zralkies running at full speed.
"Let's go, run, run!!" shouts the man representing the population thirsty for survival.
The chaos begins, with each one doing whatever they can to save their life.
The Zralkies arrive and claim a good number of victims. Some individuals are torn apart, others are bitten, and their heads ripped off. Everything happens so quickly, but still, a few people manage to flee far away.
...
Many hours pass until the new day arrives, confirming the death of Darkin, the former president of Moamba, who took many human lives.
It is all over. Justice has been achieved, and what remains now is to fight the Zralkies to restore normalcy. The portal that had been sucking a portion of Moamba's people stops its activity, and the Zralkies can now be seen throughout much of Moamba, searching for more victims to take or add to their hunting group.
Not far away, at Darkin's house, a noise is heard in one of the rooms, but the sound grows fainter, as if someone were knocking on the door, trying to ask for help but losing strength little by little.
The sky turns red, and it begins to rain. The drops are unusual, and the sky slowly opens. People begin to cry due to their heavy baggage of beliefs that make them believe in unimaginable deities. Is it a goodbye?
The chains where Darkin once hung swing back and forth, but without the hands that were ripped from the man.
