Chapter Two: An Overbearing CEO

Elise's fingers trembled as she typed, her anger a volatile cocktail of hurt, resentment, and defiance. She knew she couldn't let her emotions get the better of her, not in front of Caelan. Her job, her livelihood, depended on her composure. So she tapped out the last words, put her phone away, and forced a smile.
"Anything else, Mr. Cambridge?" she asked, her voice regaining its usual calm, professional tone.
"Actually, yes. There's a charity gala next week, and I need you to accompany me. It's important for us to project a united front, to show that we're a team."
He smiled, his eyes twinkling, his intention clear. He wasn't just asking her to attend a social event. He was offering her a chance to prove herself, to be the perfect accessory to his image of power and wealth. He wanted her to be his arm candy, his stylish, sophisticated companion.
Elise's smile widened, but it didn't quite reach her eyes. She nodded, a silent agreement to his unspoken demand. The storm inside her may have been raging, but on the surface, she was calm, controlled, the perfect secretary. She would attend the gala, she would play the role he had assigned her. But she would do it on her own terms. She would wear his makeover as a shield, a weapon against his arrogance, his attempt to control her every aspect.
She would show him that there was more to her than met the eye, that she was more than just an efficient, reliable, hardworking secretary. She was Elise, and she would not be defined by him, not anymore...
Caelan's words cut through Elise's internal monologue, bringing her back to the present moment with a jarring force. He leaned forward, extending a hand, a sleek black card resting on his palm. "Here's my card," he said, his voice smooth as silk, "You should buy everything and anything you want. And remember, you should be a perfect representative for the company, just like me."
The card felt heavy in her hand, a symbol of his power and his expectations. It wasn't just a credit card, it was a weapon, a tool to transform her into his ideal image of a corporate trophy.
Elise's heart pounded in her chest, a strange mix of fear and defiance coursing through her veins. She knew he was testing her, pushing her to the edge of her comfort zone. But she also knew that this was a chance to show him that she was more than just a cog in his machine.
"Thank you, Mr. Cambridge," she said, her voice steady, betraying nothing of the conflict raging within her. "I'll make sure to use it wisely."
She tucked the card into her purse, as she is trying her best to maintain a calm expression on her face. But deep inside, she is having this urge to throw her own glass of red wine straight to his face, but of course, she won't be able to do it.
Being Caelan Cambridge's secretary could bring her leverage in the industry, and it would be very beneficial for her once she change careers. She is patiently waiting for the day to slap his face with her resignation letter, and walk away like a badass Queen.
But for now, she has to endure the narcissist and self-centered jerk just like Caelan Cambridge...
 =================================
 Later that night.
The aroma of cheap beer and pizza filled the air, a comforting smell that spoke of late-night confessions and shared secrets. Elise slumped onto the couch, her head resting against Rachel's shoulder, the weight of the day finally starting to lift.
"Oh my gosh! Look at this! Your devil Boss gave you this black card? Do you even know what this means?!" Rachel exclaimed, her eyes wide with disbelief, her voice tinged with a hint of envy. She held up the black card, the sleek, minimalist design contrasting sharply with her messy bun and mismatched pajamas.
"Of course, I know what this means," she continued, her voice tinged with bitterness. "This black card is exclusively reserved for the ultra wealthy and it provides the cardholder unlimited credit. And that bastard Boss of mine wanted me to use it to buy things to make me an 'appropriately perfect' secretary for the CEO of Marina Shipping Company." Elise sarcastically stated.
"And of course, I can help you with that. I mean, you know I'm working for Garrett Armani, who is the best fashion designer in the country, right? Since we have unlimited resources, I could help you pick up some wardrobe in the exclusive Garrett Armani closet. Not everyone can go inside Armani's Personal Collection, but with this black card, I can definitely get you in..." Rachel suggested, with a mischievous smile on her face.
Rachel's words hit Elise like a shot of adrenaline. The mischievous glint in her eyes, the promise of a secret, exclusive access, it was all too tempting. And, she had to admit, the thought of using Caelan's own weapon against him, of turning his desire for control into her own power play, was exhilarating.
"Garrett Armani's personal collection?" Elise breathed, her voice a mixture of awe and excitement. "You're kidding, right?"
Rachel shook her head, her smile widening. "Nope, not kidding. It's like a hidden treasure trove of the most stunning designs, all curated by the man himself. And with this card, we can get in. Imagine the possibilities, Elise! We can pick out the perfect outfits for any event, make you look like a goddess, and make Caelan eat his words."
Elise's mind raced, picturing herself in exquisite Armani creations, turning heads at Caelan's charity gala, making him realize the true depth of her style and sophistication. It was a delicious thought, a taste of victory, a chance to reclaim her own identity.
"This could be the perfect counter-move," she said, her voice low and determined. "We could use his own resources to turn the tables on him."
"Exactly!" Rachel exclaimed, her eyes alight with excitement. "We'll create a masterpiece, Elise. A masterpiece that will leave Caelan speechless, that will make him regret underestimating you."
Elise raised her beer in a toast. "To the power of fashion," she said, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "To the downfall of our devilish boss, and to the rise of the perfect secretary, who is more than just a pretty face!"
Rachel clinked her glass against Elise's, their laughter echoing in the small apartment.
