Celine sat down on the bathroom floor in front of the toilet as she tried to catch her breath. She had just thrown up again, this was the sixth time today. She wiped the sweat off her forehead. She had thought she was just stressed. She slowly stood up and went to the counter, where she had set a pregnancy test earlier. It read positive. She wasn’t sure if she should be happy or scared. Armand would surely not be happy. This child could ruin everything they had been working on together. They hadn’t been married long, but their love for each other had only grown stronger. Armand was everything she ever wanted, and he loved her more than words could explain. Celine wasn’t sure what the future held for her or Armand’s child. Armand was a bad man, he would always be a bad man. It scared her to think about raising a child with him. She didn’t know what Armand’s future held, or hers. She looked at the test again and shook her head. “This is insane,” she mumbled to herself. It took her a moment to realize that she wasn’t ready for this, she wasn’t ready to be a mother. Armand had promised her the world, and she knew he would give it to her, but at what cost? Armand’s life would never be safe. He was a threat to others in his profession. He would always have someone trying to kill him. Celine didn’t want her child to grow up watching her father’s body being ripped to pieces and strung up on a hook, she couldn’t stand to think about it. She also didn’t want this child to be trapped by Armand the rest of its life. She knew her husband was crazy, he had made her his from the beginning. He wouldn’t ever let her leave him, not even after the child was born. There was only one thing she could do, escape before it was too late. It wouldn’t be easy, she was in Armand’s house. He kept her locked up inside of it. She wouldn’t be able to leave without his permission. Celine could feel tears forming in the back of her eyes. She knew Armand would never let her go. She would have to leave with or without his permission, and that meant she would have to do it in secret. She closed her eyes, hoping that a lightbulb moment would hit her and she would know what to do. Armand would be back soon, and the test would be here if he needed to look in the trash. “Get it together,” she whispered to herself. She stood up and turned on the faucet and started to wash her hands as if nothing had just happened. She turned around as Armand stepped in the door. She forced a smile onto her face and walked over to him and kissed his cheek. “I missed you,” she said. He looked at her with an eye-raising look. “I hope you did, it’s not healthy to forget your husband so soon.” Celine tried to hold back her laugh as she nodded her head at him. “No, of course not, it just seems like you are always gone now.” Armand nodded his head and rubbed her belly. “I know, things have been crazy lately. I am sorry you are left here alone a lot.” Celine shook her head and placed her hand on his shoulder. “Don’t be sorry, you work hard for us. We appreciate everything you do.” She forced a smile on her lips as she leaned up to kiss his lips. He always knew when she was lying, and this was no different. He could see it in her eyes. “What’s going on?” Armand asked. Celine looked at him confused. “Nothing.” Armand raised his eyebrow at her. “Don’t lie to me.” Celine sighed and closed her eyes. “I was just sick, I think I ate something that didn’t agree with me.” He gave her a soft smile and walked over to the trash can to dump it out on the floor. Celine’s heart sank as she saw the pregnancy test fall out on the tile floor. “Oh damn.” she said under her breath. Armand looked up at her and raised his eyebrow. “You're pregnant?” She nodded her head and he smiled as he stood up and wrapped his arms around her. “I knew it was only a matter of time.” She pulled back and gave him a confused look. “How?” He laughed and brushed her hair out of her face. “Because you've been a little different the past few weeks.” Celine felt her cheeks warm up. “What do you mean?” Armand chuckled. “Do I really need to explain that?” He asked. She shook her head no as she looked down at the floor and smiled. “I guess not.” she said. Armand laughed and put his hands on her hips. “So, you knew you were pregnant and didn’t tell me?” Celine shook her head. “I didn’t know, I just thought it was stress. I thought I had just eaten something that had made me sick.” Armand leaned down and kissed her lips. “Well, we have a baby to plan for now.” Celine smiled as Armand took her hand in his and led her to their bedroom. Celine knew this was her chance to get out of here, she wouldn’t be able to after the baby was born. She knew if she could just convince him to take her out in public for one time, she could escape. She smiled to herself as Armand pulled his shirt off and tossed it across the floor. “Get in bed,” he ordered. “Your body is going to be going through so many changes, and it's not good to put a lot of stress on it.” She nodded and did as he said.
