Chapter Thirty-five

Night had gathered quickly. Lyra is alone, sitting on a black bench outside the Black Palace. She heard the whisper of ennui in her ear; so she stood up and went inside the monotonous palace. Lyra entered her bedroom via the long, black staircase. It's already midnight, but she's just lying awake on her soft bed.
Soliloquized: "Perhaps my grandfather is already asleep and he can't know if I sneaked out of Satano de Tinago."
Lyra sprang from her bed and went towards the window in her bedroom. She opened it and looked down. Perhaps everyone was asleep, because she saw no one, and perhaps she was out of her mind, because she suddenly jumped down through the window. She unbelievably reached the ground, still standing, and made no sounds. She donned her black cloak and began her grisly venture. After a few moments, she reaches the door towards the kingdom of Antipatris. Fortunately, the door wasn't locked; so she could get out easily.
Lyra tried to use dark magic, but unfortunately, it was not working. Therefore, she began walking toward her destination even though her dogs were barking. After a few moments, Lyra arrived in Inamorus with the help of a huge owl, which let her ride on its back for an unknown purpose. They landed, and Lyra thanked the owl.
The cool air chilled Lyra's bones as she walked towards the spot where she and her boyfriend frequently visit. As she walked on, what she saw ahead was a bolt from the blue. There's someone who's sitting on the piled stones. One more step, and Lyra recognized who it was. She immediately ran without thinking. When she was near to the boy, she fell down because of the stubble.
The boy turned back with perfect timing to catch Lyra. He held her waist and looked directly at her surprised face. A moment elapsed, they stood straightly, but Lyra cuddled him tightly, as if she didn't want him to go. He heard her chasing her breath next to his ear.
"I really miss you; I didn't expect to see you here again," Lyra cried.
"Why are you crying? Come on, I can't breathe," he complained.
"Sorry, sorry."
"By the way, what are you doing here?"
"I can't sleep, and honestly, I sneaked out of the Black Palace to get here."
"We're just the same, but honestly, I can't fall asleep since you left. I was always hoping to see you again. I'm greatly envious of those moons, because they can always see you," Ylarry said.
"My love, you don't need to be envious, because even those moons see me fewer than you, because you're always in my heart, and it will always beat for you," Lyra replied.
"Thank you so much, Lyra. There's nothing else I can ask every time you're here, and I will always want you to be here, inside my heart."
Lyra lowered her head and perched it upon Ylarry's thigh. Eventually, he became curious as to why Lyra wasn't talking anymore. Perhaps she was exhausted because of her long venture towards Inamorus, especially that she could not use her power, which was caused by Garagogo.
The three moons are shining brightly in the velvet sky. A swarm of little fireflies is spreading their intermittent light and singing a beautiful love song. They witnessed how Lyra would bolster her beloved and how Ylarry would lower his head and kiss her forehead. The lovers seemed content with what they had; they even forgot their problems. They slept soundly as the three moons drifted in the sky and the fireflies' lights gradually disappeared; dawn had gathered quickly, as it means one thing: time is quick when someone rejoices.
After a few moments, Lyra woke up and found Ylarry still asleep beside her. He's just wearing a white shirt and breeches. Lyra found his cloak on her; therefore, she put it back on him, which awakened the boy.
"Um... Good morning, my love."
Ylarry stretches his arms and stands up, while Lyra just stares at him steadily, as if she's trying to memorize Ylarry's appearance, which can't be painted. Meanwhile, Ylarry also noticed her.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" He smiled and offered her a hand.
Lyra accepted his hand, but her eyes remained fixed on his face. Bluish-green eyes, a high nose, thin eyebrows, pinkish lips, and towering hair. Certainly, those things never made Lyra fall in love, but goodness, helpful, gentlemanly, etcetera, but above all, is love.
"I don't know if I can still see your face again," Lyra said.
"Me too, but I know that love will find a way," Ylarry replied.
"Love, why won't we just leave our home and start a new life like those normal Antipatrisians?"
"I also want that, but we can't experience a normal and peaceful life as long as our relationship doesn't possess parental permission. I hope you can understand."
"Of course I understand, but it seems impossible for us to gain their votes, because you're white and I'm black."
"Don't say that, my love. I believe that colors aren't a hindrance to unity. So let's just hope for the best and prepare for the worst," Ylarry suggested.
"What else can we do if our relationship is prohibited?" Lyra asked. "I know that there are many eyes watching us, threatening our relationship and not wanting us to meet. So my love, be careful because I don't know how to live if you're gone."
"The sun is gradually coming, and I don't want to leave you, but it's time. So come my love, hold my hand and I'll usher you back to your home."
Lyra held Ylarry's hand, and Inamorus became empty again. They appeared in front of a big tree in the jungle of Kacatulam.
"I'm sorry, my love, we're just here. I know that I can't endure in your place, because of the reigning darkness there," Ylarry said.
"Don't worry. I can manage to get back; I also hope to see you again, but now I need to say farewell," Lyra replied, then turned to leave, but then turned back to cuddle her beloved, even just for the last time.
"Please my love, don't make me cry. I believed that our paths would meet again," Ylarry said. "Goodbye," he whispered.
Lyra turned and suddenly disappeared as she entered the doorway towards Satano de Tinago. Ylarry also used his power to fly up and reach the sky where his home was built eons ago.
Ylarry suddenly appeared in the courtyard of Castillo de Saat. He continued walking and entered the door. The smile on his face gradually disappeared as he knew that it would take a long time before he could see his beloved again. Still, he was grateful to see her again in just a short time; he was grateful to spend another cold night with her; he was (sic) grateful to touch and kiss her face. Unfortunately, everything didn't last longer. As he walked on, someone met him.
"Where did you come from?" someone asked.
"Why do you need to know?" Ylarry asked backward. He stopped walking by the woman. "I just came out to smell some fresh air."
The woman gets closer to him and smells something by his nape like a dog scrutinizing the thing. "But why can't I smell the fresh air but only lies? She asked, "Tell me the truth, if you don't want me to be mad at you and report your secret to demigod Heshnok," she whispered in his ear while thrusting her body closer to him as she wanted their flesh to emerge from the view. Their worlds suddenly tottered, as there seemed to be a storm of enmity.
"I can no longer endure what you're doing to me!" He pushes her body away from him, "Tell him what you want to tell him, but don't give me a chance to take your life!" He glared angrily at the woman who had ricocheted to the silver wall.
The woman cried loudly, but the mad boy didn't mind her. He leaves her alone with the emptiness. After just a few moments had elapsed, someone in a white robe appeared beside the pathetic woman.
"O Lydia!" he exclaimed. "What are you doing here, and are you crying?" He offered her a hand and helped her stand up.
"Master, your son Ylarry raised me a hand, because he knew that I was always observing and watching him as you'd ordered." A loud sound comes out of her lips as she sobs.
"What tribulation you've got from my stubborn son—"
"Master, I also know that he's still meeting the Incino girl named Lyra; just a while ago, he arrived here from Antipatris, where he met her."
"What!" Heshnok exclaimed. "He's still meeting the Incino girl, but how sure are you to report that?" Heshnok bridled his lips forcefully with two hands in his pockets.
"Although he's not saying anything to me, I can still know what he's doing for I'm always observing him, and perhaps it's time for you to know that." Lydia hadn't finished saying her words when someone interrupted.
"Father, don't believe to that woman, because she's just making my brother's image bad to you, but the truth is, she's the one who does despicable things to your son!" Felix exclaimed, then he went near to them and suddenly grabbed Lydia's arm.
"Master! Master, please don't hurt me," Lydia implored. Her screams awakened Heshnok's feelings, which made him attempt to hurt Felix.
Fortunately, someone suddenly appeared and caught his fist, which was going to strike Felix's face.
"Heshnok!" Al Zhein exclaimed. "How come that you could hurt your own son?"
"Father?" Heshnok asked.
Heshnok lowered his head to show respect to his father, and so did Felix and Lydia. Felix let go of Lydia as she also wiped her tears out of her saddened face.
"I can feel the quarrel here, but why are you fighting if everything can be unraveled through simple talk?" Al Zhein asked.
Heshnok said, "I'm sorry father, it will not happen again; son, Lydia, you may now leave us, and please fight no more."
Felix turned to leave, and so did Lydia; they simultaneously left the spot. As they walked on, they noticed that they were walking together on the same floor, towards the same destination. Both of them didn't know what to do, as if they were competing. They are both grateful for master Al Zhein's demonstration, which was at the right time, because if not, for sure, their secrets were already revealed. Felix suddenly stopped, but he was enraged that Lydia also stopped simultaneously with him.
"Lyd..." Felix attempted to say something, but Lydia also did. "Um... you must talk first," Felix suggested.
"Why? What do I need to tell you?" Lydia asked.
"Tell me why you're doing this to my brother. You already know that he has a girlfriend, but you still—" Lydia interrupted, and Felix had not finished saying his words.
"If you only knew how much I loved your brother—"
Lydia's tears began to stream down her face. Silence prevailed for a while. Felix was just looking at her sparkling eyes, which were filled with tears. The wind blows unexpectedly in the opposite direction as Felix spreads his arms around the crying woman. He let her face perch over his shoulder, and there she cried and cried.
"Come on Lydia, don't shower me with your tears. Instead of crying for your beloved, you must be happy for their happiness. Don't worry, because I'm always here, ready to catch you if you fall."
On the other hand, master Al Zhein and demigod Heshnok are having a conversation while walking on the glossy floor.
"Son, why are you intruding into my grandson's problems? Letting them solve them can make them more independent," Al Zhein advised. "Especially that I sensed a good harmony between Felix and Lydia."
"How could you say that, father? If they are even fighting in front of me? Let's say that you're perhaps right, but what about Ylarry? I know that you know that he's still meeting the Incino girl," Heshnok replied.
"Son, you don't need to be so concerned about them. Look, you once fell in love with Elyza and left our home early. Do you remember what time you would come back? It was in the middle of those nights, but did I go against your happiness?"
"But father, that girl is an Incino. What if there's something wrong with what she's planning to do to Ylarry?" Heshnok sounds worried.
"Heshnok, just calm down. It's not your son's mistake if he falls in love with an Incino girl, and he's already old enough to know the difference between right and wrong."
Hearing his father, Heshnok realized that being mad at his son is inappropriate because, as master Al Zhein told him, it's not Ylarry's mistake if he fell in love with an Incino girl. But among everyone, who then really made a mistake?
