Chapter 39
MILES
As I stood in front of the mirror, admiring my reflection, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and nervousness. It was prom night, and I had been looking forward to this moment for weeks. My black suit and red bowtie were perfectly tailored, and my black hair was styled to perfection. I couldn't help but smile at my reflection, feeling confident and beautiful.
But as I gazed into the mirror, I couldn't help but wonder if my boyfriend would be just as impressed. We had been together for a month now, and I had always made an effort to look my best for him. But tonight was different, tonight was special. I wanted to make sure he knew just how much he meant to me.
I took a deep breath and straightened my tie, adjusting the bowtie so that it sat perfectly in place. I smoothed out my hair and took one last look at myself before turning away from the mirror. It was time to meet my date and start our night.
As I stood there in my room, surrounded by the familiar walls and the memories of my childhood, I couldn't help but feel a sense of nervous excitement. I heard the front door open downstairs, and my mother's voice called out from the hallway. "Oh Tyler, you look amazing!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with pride and happiness. I smiled to myself, feeling a surge of confidence as I heard Tyler's response.
"Thanks, Mrs. O'Malley," he said, his voice dripping with charm and good looks. "You look amazing too."
I couldn't help but feel a twinge of embarrassment at my mother's enthusiasm, but I knew that she just wanted the best for me.
"Miles is still upstairs, you should go see him," I heard my dad say from downstairs.
"Thank you, Mr. O'Malley," Tyler replied, his voice filled with a hint of mischief.
I couldn't help but smile as I heard the sound of Tyler's footsteps coming closer and closer. My heart raced with anticipation as I waited for him to enter my room. I knew that he had something special planned for me, and I couldn't wait to find out what it was.
Finally, the door to my room creaked open, and Tyler stepped inside. He was wearing a black 3-piece tuxedo, the fabric smooth and luxurious under the flickering light. His red bowtie was perfectly knotted. His blonde hair was styled in a sleek back, the strands perfectly in place as if he had just stepped out of a salon. He was holding a small box in his hand, and a sly grin spread across his face as he closed the door behind him.
"What's that?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
"Something special," he replied, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "I've been planning this for weeks."
I couldn't help but feel my heart race as he approached me, the box still clutched in his hand. I knew that this was going to be something incredible, something that would change everything between us. And I was right.
"You look," he paused, looking all over me in surprise as he smiled, "weird?" I cut him off, "Mesmerizing," he replied, his voice barely above a whisper. He handed me the small box he was holding, "open it," he added, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
I smiled at him, giving him the look that he shouldn't have bothered to give me anything. But as I took the box from him, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. Maybe it was the way he looked at me like I was the only person in the world, or maybe it was the way his smile made me feel like I was home. Whatever it was, I knew that this moment was special.
I carefully opened the box, revealing a beautiful silver ring, carved with a delicate design. I gasped in surprise, my eyes widening as I looked up at him. "It's beautiful," I breathed, my voice barely above a whisper.
He smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I thought you might like it," he said, his voice low and husky. "I've been waiting for the perfect moment to give it to you."
I felt my heart race as I took the ring out of the box and put it around my finger. It felt like a symbol of our connection, a reminder that this moment was real and that he was the one who had given it to me. I looked up at him, my eyes shining with happiness, and he smiled back at me, his eyes filled with love.
"Thank you," I whispered, my voice trembling with emotion.
"You're welcome," he replied, his voice just as soft. "I'm glad you like it."
We stood there for a moment, looking at each other, and the next thing I knew, his hand was gently cupping my face. It was warm and delicate, sending shivers down my spine.
I looked up to see his soft, warm lips moving closer to mine. My heart skipped a beat as I realized what was about to happen. I was caught off guard, unsure of what to do. But at that moment, as his lips landed on mine like a delicate petal of a rose, I couldn't resist the feeling.
It was like an explosion of emotion, overwhelming and intense. I melted into his touch, my hands instinctively finding their way to his nape, pulling him closer. His kiss was gentle yet passionate, igniting a fire within me that I never knew existed.
For a moment, nothing else mattered. It was just the two of us, lost in the bliss of each other's embrace. The world faded away, leaving only the warmth of his lips on mine, the smell of his cologne, and the sound of our quiet breaths.
But just as quickly as it began, the moment was over. He pulled away, his hand still cupping my face, his eyes searching for a reaction. I was breathless, my mind reeling from the unexpected encounter.
Before I could find the words to speak, his lips were on mine again, this time with a sense of urgency. I could feel his desire through the passionate pressure of his kiss. And in that moment, I realized that I wanted him just as much as he wanted me. And as we finally pulled away, both of us panting for breath, I knew that this was just the beginning.
His hand never left my face, his touch still warm and delicate as he whispered, "I love you." I smiled and replied, "I love you too," he chuckled then held my hand and made our way out.
As we made our way downstairs, the sound of cameras clicking and the chatter of my parents filled the air. My heart raced with excitement as I knew that this was it. My parents were beaming with happiness, and I could see the joy in their eyes as they watched us. They had been supportive of our relationship, and I knew that they were thrilled to see us going to prom together.
As we stood in front of the camera, Tyler wrapped his arm around me and pulled me close. I could feel his warmth and strength, and I knew that this was where I belonged. My heart skipped a beat as I looked into his eyes, and I knew that this was the start of something special.
"Smile!" my mom called out, snapping us out of our moment. We both smiled brightly, and the camera clicked, capturing the love and happiness that we shared.
"One more!" my dad called out, and we obliged, giggling as we posed for the camera once again.
ERIN
"Honey, someone's here to pick you up!" My mom called from downstairs, her voice echoing up the stairs, breaking through my daydream. I quickly yanked my eyes away from my reflection in the mirror, my heart racing with excitement. I had been waiting for this moment for weeks, ever since I had chosen this sparkly, body-fitted prom dress with a high slit. It was the perfect choice for the night, and I couldn't wait to show it off.
I took one last look at myself, making sure my hair was perfectly styled and my makeup was flawless. My heart skipped a beat as I caught sight of my reflection in the mirror. I looked like a princess, ready to dance the night away with my friends.
"I'll be there in a minute!" I called back down to my mom, my voice barely containing my excitement. I took a deep breath and made my way downstairs, my heels clicking on the hardwood floor.
As I reached the bottom of the stairs, I saw a familiar figure talking to my father at the front door. At first, I thought it was Jacob, but then, when I looked closely, I realized it was Clark dressed in a navy blue three-piece suit. My heart skipped a beat as I took in the sight of him standing there, looking so handsome and confident. I didn't know what to make of it, but I felt a sudden jolt of surprise and confusion.
Just as I was about to approach them, Clark turned his gaze toward me and our eyes met. We both froze, unsure of what to say or do. The air was thick with tension as we stared at each other, our hearts racing. I could feel my cheeks flush and my palms grow sweaty.
Suddenly, my phone vibrated I looked at it and found out that it was Jacob calling me, I glanced at Clark but he was occupied talking to my parents. I turned my back to them and answered the phone.
"Hey, are we still going to the prom together?" I asked, my voice trembling with excitement. But instead of the usual enthusiastic response, I heard Jacob sigh on the other end of the line. "That's why I'm calling you," he said, his voice heavy with sadness. "I'm moving to France with my brother Billie, and we're leaving tonight."
My brows furrowed in confusion. "What? I don't understand, Jacob," I said, my heart racing with confusion. "Why are you moving? And why didn't you tell me sooner?"
Jacob chuckled, but it sounded forced. "I wanted to wait until the right moment, but I guess now's as good a time as any," he said. "My family and I have been planning this for months, and we're leaving tonight. We'll be gone for good, and I won't be able to make it to the prom."
I felt like I had been punched in the gut. The prom was only a few days away, and now Jacob was telling me he was leaving the country. It didn't make any sense.
"Erin, You know that I like you right?" My heart skipped a beat as I heard Jacob's words. I had always suspected that he might have feelings for me, but hearing him say it out loud made me feel a mix of excitement and embarrassment. I took a deep breath and tried to compose myself, not wanting to reveal how much his admission had affected me.
"Y-yes, I know," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper. I could feel my face growing hotter by the second.
Jacob's chuckle was warm and comforting, and it made me feel at least a little more at ease. I had always enjoyed talking to him ever since we started hanging out, and I was glad that he had finally confessed his feelings, but I'm not sure how to respond to that.
"Erin, telling you that I like you is more than enough for me, and I won't force you or bother you just to like me back," he said, his voice filled with sincerity. "Besides, your heart always calls his name."
I was taken aback by his words, unsure of what he meant. "What do you mean?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
"I've known from the start, Erin," Jacob said, his voice low and serious. "I've always known how deep you truly feel for Clark, and that it will always be him." He sighed, "I know this may be hard for you to hear, but I have to be honest with you. I've always known that you would always choose Clark over me, and that's okay. I've always known that I could never be the one for you."
"Why are you risking your feelings for me, Jacob?" I asked, my voice filled with concern. "What do you think I would feel now that I found out everything?"
I heard Jacob sigh, "I know it's a risk, but I can't help it. I hope that you can understand how I feel, Erin and that we can still be friends, even if it's not in the way I had hoped."
I took a deep breath, my heart racing. I knew that I had to be honest with him, to let him know how I truly felt. "I care for you too, Jacob," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "But my heart belongs to Clark. I can't deny that. But I value our friendship, and I don't want to lose it."
"I understand, Erin. My feelings for you will never go away, but I can accept that. I just hope that we can still be friends and that we can move forward from here."
I nodded, a sense of relief washing over me. I knew that it wouldn't be easy, but I was grateful for Jacob's understanding. I knew that our friendship was strong enough to withstand anything and that we would always be there for each other, no matter what.
"So I guess this is it. Goodbye Jacob," I said to him, "Goodbye, Erin," he replied and just like that the call ended. I smiled and turned around to see Clark, just then our eyes met again but this time we both smiled.
CLARK
As I pulled up to Erin's house, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. Jacob had told me that he couldn't pick her up, and I had reluctantly agreed to do it. I had always known that Erin was beautiful, but tonight, as she stepped out of her house and into my car, I was struck by her beauty once again. She was wearing a stunning dress, her hair styled perfectly, and her makeup flawless. She looked like a princess, no, a queen rather and I felt like a lowly subject, driving her to the prom.
As we drove in silence, I couldn't help but glance at her, mesmerized by her beauty. I could feel my heart racing, and my palms were sweating. I had never felt this way before, and I didn't know how to deal with it. I had always thought of myself as a confident person, but now I felt like a nervous wreck.
I tried to focus on the road, but my mind kept wandering back to Erin. I couldn't help but wonder why Jacob had asked me to pick her up, and what he must have thought when he asked me. Did he know about my feelings for her? Did he think I would try something? I pushed those thoughts aside, knowing that I would never do anything to hurt Jacob or Erin.
As we arrived at the prom, I could feel my heart racing even more. I knew that this was a night that I would never forget, and I was grateful to have been a part of it. I helped Erin out of the car, and as she walked into the building, I couldn't help but feel a sense of loss. I knew that I would never have the chance to be with her, but I was happy to see her happy.
"Are you coming or not?" As I regained my senses, I looked at Erin and saw her smiling at me, her eyes sparkling with amusement. I felt my heart skip a beat as I realized that I had been so lost in my thoughts that I had almost forgotten that I was on a date with her.
"You can't just let your date go all alone, Clark," she said, her voice husky and playful. "You're supposed to be enjoying yourself, not lost in your little world."
I felt a flush rise to my cheeks as I realized that I had been staring at her for a while, my mind wandering off to places it shouldn't have gone. I quickly composed myself and smiled back at her, trying to play it cool.
"Sorry, I was just lost in thought," I said, hoping that she wouldn't notice how awkward I was feeling.
Erin chuckled and took my hand, "Let's go, Superman Jr." She teased making me chuckle as we both made our way inside the prom.
TYLER
As we stepped inside the prom venue, Miles and I couldn't help but gasp in amazement. The room was transformed into a stunning wonderland, with balloons and streamers in every color of the rainbow, and a disco ball hanging from the ceiling, casting dazzling lights across the dance floor. The tables were adorned with elegant centerpieces, and the food and drinks were laid out in abundance.
But what caught our attention was the photo booth. It was a beautifully decorated little nook, complete with a backdrop, props, and a camera. We couldn't resist the urge to take a few photos together, and we spent the next half hour laughing and posing, trying out different silly poses and making silly faces.
As we sat on the prom table, surrounded by the twinkling lights and the lively chatter of our classmates, Miles and I couldn't help but feel like we were on top of the world. We had just finished a delicious dinner, and the music was getting us all in the mood to dance the night away.
Erin, Clark, Klaus, Charles, Emily, Alexa, and Jessica were all laughing and joking around, and we were all having a great time. It was like we were all one big, happy family, enjoying each other's company and making memories that would last a lifetime.
As we sat there, Miles leaned over and whispered something in my ear. "I'm so glad we're doing this," he said, his voice filled with excitement and joy. "I've been waiting for this night for so long."
I smiled and nodded, feeling the same way. We had been planning this prom for months, and it was finally here. It was everything we had hoped it would be and more.
As we sat on the prom table, surrounded by our friends, I realized that this was what it was all about. This was what high school was all about - the memories, the laughter, the friendship, and the love. And I knew that no matter where life took us, we would always have these memories to hold onto.
Suddenly, the host announced the start of the band concert, Erin and Jessica exchanged a mischievous glance before taking off towards the backstage like two rockets. The rest of us at the table couldn't help but burst out laughing at their silly expressions, knowing that they were about to put on a show to remember.
But little did we know, the real show was yet to come.
As the stage curtains opened, revealing the girl band, Erin and Jessica stood at the front, guitars slung over their shoulders and a pair of microphones in hand.
As they began to play, the crowd was immediately captivated by their talent and energy. Erin's fingers danced across the frets of her guitar, her voice weaving in and out of Jessica's as they sang the opening verses of their first song. But it was when they reached the chorus of Avril Lavigne's "Complicated" that the magic happened.
Jessica's voice soared as she took the lead, her powerful vocals sending shivers down the spines of the listeners. But then, just as the chorus was reaching its climax, Erin joined in, her voice blending seamlessly with Jessica's in perfect harmony. The effect was breathtaking, the two voices entwining like a pair of birds in flight, each one complementing the other in a way that seemed almost otherworldly.
The crowd was stunned, left in awe by the beauty and grace of their performance. Some people had tears in their eyes, others were cheering and whistling, but everyone was united in their appreciation for the incredible music that was being made.
As the song came to an end, the applause was thunderous, the crowd calling for more. And Erin and Jessica, their faces flushed with excitement and joy, were more than happy to oblige, launching into their next song with renewed energy and passion.
The rest of the evening was a blur of music and magic, the two friends weaving their spells of sound and emotion over the enchanted audience.
...
The sound of cheers and applause filled the room as Erin's band's final song came to an end, the Prom host announced that it was time for us to dance with our partners.
I glanced over at Miles, and he smiled at me, his hazel eyes sparkling with joy. Without hesitation, I offered my hand to him, silently inviting him to join me for a dance. He gladly accepted, taking my hand in his and leading me to the crowded dance floor.
The lights were dim and the music was slow as we swayed to the rhythm. I could feel every eye on us, but all that mattered at that moment was Miles. I placed my hands on his waist as he wrapped his arms around my shoulders, pulling me closer to him.
As we moved together, our bodies in perfect sync, I couldn't help but reminisce on our journey to this moment. Lost in my thoughts, I was pulled back to reality as Miles whispered in my ear, "I'm so glad we get to share this, Ty."
I smiled, feeling overwhelmed with emotions. This was more than just a dance at prom; it was a celebration of our love.
As the song came to an end, we held each other a little tighter, not wanting the moment to end. But as we pulled away, our classmates erupted in applause, cheering for our performance. The rest of the night was a blur as we danced and laughed together, making memories that would last a lifetime.
CLARK
The music was loud and the dance floor was packed with couples swaying and twirling to the beat. Everyone seemed to be having a great time, but for me, it was a different story. I stood at the side, watching the happy couples enjoying their time together, feeling a pang of envy in my heart.
"Clark," a familiar voice called out from behind me. I turned around to see Erin, and seeing her instantly brightened up my mood.
"Erin," I replied, a smile spreading across my face.
She walked towards me, her dress swaying gently with each step. I couldn't help but admire her beauty, even more so now that she was standing right in front of me. "What are you doing standing here all by yourself? Erin asked with a playful tone.
I shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant. "Just taking a break from all the dancing," I replied, though the truth was that I didn't have anyone to dance with.
"Well, that's too bad," she said with a grin. "Because I was just looking for someone to dance with." She held out her hand, inviting me to join her on the dance floor.
My heart skipped a beat at her words. Without hesitation, I took her hand and led her to the dance floor. As the music changed to a slow romantic tune, we locked eyes and started dancing. Her hand fit perfectly in mine, and I couldn't help but feel a surge of happiness.
We swayed and twirled to the music, lost in each other's eyes. It felt like time had stopped, and it was just the two of us at that moment. I could feel my heart beating faster as we danced, and I knew that this was where I was meant to be.
As the song came to an end, we stopped dancing, but we didn't let go of each other's hands. "Thank you for the dance, Clark," Erin said softly, her eyes locking with mine.
"Thank you for asking me," I replied, feeling braver and more confident with each passing second.
Before I could second-guess myself, I leaned in and planted a gentle kiss on her lips. To my surprise and delight, Erin kissed me back, her arms wrapping around my neck.
At that moment, everything fell into place, and I knew that I had finally got a chance to date her.Download Novelah App
