Chapter 13 INTO ME

STELLA
Can I run away? No. I can’t. Even an idiot knows that.
No one can escape him.
No one.
I got out of the car, adjusted my hat, and silently followed him back to the vehicle.
Without saying a word, I climbed into the passenger seat. If he drove now, he would run over the people scattered around. There was no way any vehicle could get through.
But I couldn’t help but ask, "Where did this car come from?"
He leaned back in his seat slightly, reclining it. He also turned on the radio, and soft music filled the air—it was How Deep Is Your Love by the Bee Gees.
The music clashed with the danger we faced.
But he seemed to enjoy it. He hummed softly, eyes closed, lost in the melody.
"Well," he began. "I borrowed it."
"You mean, you stole it."
"Geez, it’s borrowing," he insisted with a sly grin. I was momentarily taken aback when his hair floated in the air again. It was weird, but—
"What are you thinking?" I asked.
"Taking over the world."
Yeah. I figured. He only talked like this when he was excited or "happy."
It was a strange thing.
I couldn’t stop myself from lightly brushing the end of his hair that danced in the air. It felt soft.
"You're being comfortable, aren’t you?" His eyes snapped open and locked onto mine, so I immediately pulled my hand away. "Touching my hair basically means you're into me."
"Ha?" I scoffed. "That doesn’t make sense, idiot."
His logic was absurd.
"Huh, you have no idea," he said, smirking. "You like my hair?"
"I told you, I was just—"
"Oh, you like it," he accused, his eyes widening. "Or should I say, you like me—"
"I DON’T!"
God, I wish I could shoot him right now.
But even if I could…
It’s no use.
"Geez, stop being in denial. Trust me, I’ll be a good husband. Stop worrying."
"I’m not marrying you—what are you thinking?" I snapped. "Why don’t you just stay in whatever dimension you came from?"
He stared at me with a strange expression. "Not unless you come with me." His arrogance was infuriating. He was telling me I had no choice if that’s what he wanted.
I rubbed my temple.
"I’m stuck here with you, huh…" I murmured.
I felt like crying.
I should have listened to Mom and just become a chef.
I was pulled from my thoughts when he readjusted his seat. He leaned toward me, inspecting my face. "You’re not bad, you know. You’re actually attractive," he said.
Huh?
"Are you trying to flirt with me?" I asked him. But he just smiled, fastening my seatbelt.
I could smell him.
He smelled good—like flowers, but in a masculine way.
And I wanted to strangle him.
"I fucking hate you," I said.
"That’s sexy," he replied, leaning back in his seat. He started the car again, and I had no idea where he was taking me this time.
"Well, you’re not wrong," he added, his eyes meeting mine through the rearview mirror. "I am stuck here with you."
Being with Nullus is the only reason why I’ll be dead for real this time. I know his deeds have spread. My father knows, and what about Diana? Oh, fuck, that woman.
And yes, this is the classic battle of hero versus villain—just like in those popular TV shows. Soldiers are meant to die, just extras in the background. But how did I get dragged into this? I should be dead!
On top of everything, I’m exhausted. I haven’t had a proper break. Isaac drove again, and when I woke up, I freaked out. I didn’t need to ask; I knew he had a plan—and I knew exactly what it was.
"Stop thinking, you’ll just wear yourself out," Isaac said, smirking at me. I didn’t know what his plan was, but I knew my life was irrevocably changing… I didn’t know if I could even start again after this—or if this situation could ever end.
Crap.
"Why are we here?" I asked, my voice tinged with confusion.
He gave a smug smile. "Guess."
"Shit," I cursed.
With a sudden, forceful motion, he opened the church door. The people inside gasped, turning their heads to look at us, including the bride and groom. We were at the wedding of a well-known celebrity.
Isaac walked down the red carpet like he owned everything, and me? I had no idea—when he looked at me, I had no choice but to follow. I felt like a total wreck right now. I had no idea what to do! I felt utterly powerless.
"Isaac—" I called out to him firmly. The eyes of the crowd were on us, as were the cameras. I hated this. "Please, enough—"
He faced the bride and groom-to-be…
"May we go first?" he commanded. "And the cameras, point them to us. Give us some fine-ass exposure." He glanced at me again and grinned.
I could do nothing but stay silent. I saw the faint glow of his ring—he was warning me.
Our eyes met again. Those same terrifying eyes. Even though he appeared to be making a joke of the situation, I had no choice but to follow him.
He will definitely…
I wanted to run away, but…
"Don’t try anything stupid," he warned, extending his hand. "You won’t like what I’ll do."
Holy shit.
So I had no choice.
Reluctantly, I reached for his hand.
