CHAPTER 15: Celebrating (The Real Chapter 15)
"Denice, fix yourself now. We are about to go to Alyssa 's house in a few minutes." My mum said, while I'm watching some movie series on Netflix in their Kaisel living room.
"I will just finish this one episode then I will fix myself." I replied to my mum. She just lets me do what I want, then she goes to her room to fix herself.
"Hey, Denice, unnie are calling you. She said go to her room. Give me the remote." That's the command of Kaisel's brother. I just grimace at him. He has no respect for someone who is older than him.
Our age gap is more than 7 years, then will he just call me Denice? He doesn't even give me some respect everytime he talks to me or needs something from me.
I was annoyed, so I handed the remote to him and got up from the couch to go to her older sister Kacey's room. As he said.
"Kaisen said, you are calling me?" I said after I knocked on her room. She nodded. She made me sit on her bed while fixing herself. She looked at me at the mirror on her vanity table.
"Something wrong happened to you and my brother?" She asked while putting some blush on her face. I stood up and changed the topic. I don't want to talk about it. And I don't want to remember the worst nights I had.
"Wow, your necklace is cute. I love it so much. I want to buy that but it's only a limited edition." I said. Referring to the gold rainbow necklace she was about to wear but she gave that to me.
"Here, you can have it."
"For real? But this is so expensive and it's a limited edition only. No, I can't have this." I put it down on her vanity table. I looked at her in the mirror while wearing her most expensive earrings.
How did I know that? It's obviously expensive because it is brightening like a diamond. No, it's a real diamond. All her things are so expensive and branded.
Aunt Kailey didn't give her so much money, because she doesn't want her child to be spoiled. So, everything she has, she really works hard to get that. So, I really can't accept that.
"You can have it, dear. Don't worry, that's not mine." My eyes grew big from what I heard from her. She's serious? She's willing to give this to me but she was not the owner of it, but it's impossible for her to steal it because she can afford to buy it.
Aunt Kailey wouldn't let her do that either.
"Who owned that then?" I asked. She stood up and got the necklace I put down on her table then she wore that to me.
"It's from Celestine. That's her gift for me when I got home. Look, It suits you so well." she said then fix my few hair blocking my face. I looked at myself in the mirror. Yeah, it's true, it really suits me.
But. . .
"But, I really can't accept this. It's so expensive and this is Celestine's gift to you. I didn't even have a gift for you." I looked somewhere while touching the pendant of the rainbow necklace she wore to me.
I can’t look her straight in the eyes because I felt the shyness over my body. I don't have a gift for her but she's given me a gift. And it came from an important person to her life.
I know how Celestine is important to her life and to their family. Especially to Kaisel, you will already see it in his eyes, action towards Celestine. Sometimes, I wish I'm Celestine.
She's so lucky, everyone likes her, especially the man I like, the man I have admired for over four years. But, she's my best friend. I can't deal with it when we fight because of one boy.
"You don't have to worry. I will just tell her I am the one who gave that to you. I will get mad when you take it off or if you don't accept that." I just nodded to what she said. I don't want her to be mad at me.
"Have you already taken a shower?" She asked while fixing her things on her vanity table.
"Uhm – yeah. earlier in the morning." I replied.
"Sit here, Denice." She said and pulled me to her chair to sit down. I obeyed her orders.
"What are you doing?" I curiously asked, because she started putting something on my face. I'm not really used to wearing make-up because I don't feel like wearing them. And I don't know how to use them either.
"Mom asked me to do this to you. And I wanted to." I nodded and just agreed to what she wanted to do to me. It's just now, and tomorrow it will be over.
"You know I used to ask my parents to let me have a sister because I wanted to have a playmate, but I was given a two-naughty brother." She chuckled while putting
something on my eyelashes. But it was making me feel good.
"But it's okay with me because I know how much they love me. And now, you're here. I can finally do what I wanted when I was young until now. I was so grateful that you came to our house." I can't stop smiling widely. I'm so happy with what she said.
She was grateful that I came to their lives and their homes, but her two brothers weren't. They even wanted me to leave their house, but I didn't want to.
I'm happy here. I'm comfortable here. I feel like I'm at home here even though I am not really.
"I really like doing this to someone else. Like putting make-up on their face, tying hair, and so on. Especially to my sister, but I never had one. But thank you for coming Denied, at least I fulfilled my childhood dream before I had my own family." She added.
I looked at her in the mirror and I smiled widely. Oh, finally someone so grateful to meet me and not to wish me to die. I'm so honored that I am the one who fulfilled her childhood dreams.
"Uh-- where is Celestine?" I asked her. I don't know what I'm going to say. I'm stunned by what she says to me.
"She went home earlier this morning to their house." She replied. I just simply nod.
"Wait . . . I will tell you a story." She said and now putting pink lipstick to my lips. I didn't respond to her because maybe I ruined the lipstick she put on my lips but I was listening to her.
"One time, when me and Kaisel were just the two of us in the house. Because my mom and my dad were in the hospital laboring to Kaisen. Because it was still a boy, and we were both bored at that time." She paused because she changed the makeup brush she's using to me.
"You know, one time I meddled with my mom's make-up for Kaisel because we were really bored at that time and we really couldn't do anything. He agreed so I continued what I was doing. He also loves doing that to him. We used to think he was a guy but were wrong." She said then chuckled and put my hair on the back of my ear. It even made me chuckle too.
Oh my gosh, I was curious about the face
of the Kaisel who is always a poker face, cold, serious in life, that time. I guess he was cute at that time. Argh! I badly want to see it.
"Did you take a picture of him at that time?" I really couldn't help but ask her now. Say, yes please! I was so curious about what he looked like at that time. I guess he is so pretty. Much prettier than me.
"Yeah, I guess. Wait . . . I'll just look." I nodded. She stops putting make-up on my face to see if she still has it. Please find that! I was curious right now.
"I think I put that on my walking closet drawers. I'll just look at that. Wait for me, here!" I nodded. I am willing to wait for her here. I hope she will see that.
"I found it. Here! Please keep it to both of us. He so hates to see that and remember that." I made a promise and we both chuckled while looking at the picture she took of Kaisel that time when she was putting make-up on Kaisel's face.
It wasn't just one photo; it was five more photos, and he did different kinds of poses. I couldn't help but laugh as Kaisel's older sister fixed my hair. He really looks gay that time.
He even looks more like a woman than me. I guess, if he's a real girl he's even prettier than me. But thank God, he's a man. The man who will soon be my husband. Oh my gosh!
I want to touch my cheeks right now because I feel it's burning red. Everytime, I remember that it really made me chuckle so hard.
It's really funny because I can't believe that Kaisel did this to himself. He is a very serious person. I chuckled once again before I finally returned that to Kaisel's older sister named Kacey.
"No, keep that with you. Scare him when he teases you or when he bullies you. Don't just say you have it all to me. Because I am dead to him. You were wrong to fight against me, Denice. Understand?" I nodded, then she smiled at me.
I will never do that to her. I don't have plans to fight against her either. She is so cool and hard to fight on too. And I will feel sorry for myself when it happens.
"Btw, wear this dress. I haven't tried it yet, so I decided to give it to you. We will wait for you downstairs. Get off right away, after you wear the dress." She said, I nodded before she left me in her room.
I looked at myself in the mirror. My mouth went O when I saw myself in the mirror. This is really me? Why do I look pretty good today? Is it really me? I really can't believe it! Maybe, it wasn't really me? Gosh! I'm so pretty today.
"Since birth, Denice." I said to myself and the mirror and kissed myself in the mirror too. I wore the dress given to me by Kaisel's older sister. That suits me so well. I look at myself in the mirror after I come out of the bathroom.
I'm really so beautiful today. I look like a different person right now. I fixed my hair first before I finally left the room to go downstairs. I slowly went down because the dress I was wearing was quite long.
"It was really you, Denice?" Aunt Kailey asked. I smiled at her and nodded. I saw my mom how she was shocked about my look today. That's my reaction too mom when I saw myself in the mirror. I greeted them and they greeted me back.
"You look so adorable today, Denice! You are so pretty." Aunt Kailey complained to me. I smiled at what she said. It's good Aunt Kailey appreciates what I'm wearing but her son doesn't even have a reaction to that. He even left the house first.
I smiled bitterly before I looked at Uncle El. Kaisel's father.
"You are so beautiful, Denice. " Uncle El said.
"Thank you, Aunt and Uncle." I thanked them.
"Let's go now!" Uncle stated. We all nodded. My mom put her hands on my shoulder.
"You are so pretty, today my daughter." My mom said so sweet to me.
"Thank you, Mom. You are also." I replied. We smiled at each other before we boarded Kaisel's family van. That's what they use now because we're not all in the car.
We are all going to the house of Alyssa. The friend of mine and Celestine because they have a small party for their back home.
When we arrived at their house. I immediately looked for Alyssa.
"Welcome home, Alyssa." I greeted her and we chatted about things we missed to each other for the past few days.
I also told her that day I confessed to Kaisel because she knew I liked the young man and in the days that happened she was not here.
"What am I doing right now? I am confused. I don't know what I believe." I said to her, Talking about the relationship between Kaisel and Celestine and what is happening to us lately.
"Denice, just believe in yourself for now. If they will have a real relationship. It doesn't care about you anymore. Okay? You will move on with him someday. Just be patient with that! Fighting girl!" She cheers me up. I thanked her.
After that, we entered their garder because that is where the party is held for their return to the country or for their safe return home.
Alyssa's parents have a business trip abroad for two weeks and she needs to be there because her grandmother who is also in another country will also have her birthday.
Just the family of us was invited. Me and My Mom, Celestine Family, Kaisel Family, Sean Family. They are close friends of Alyssa's parents. We just enjoyed this night with us.
"Cheers for Alyssa's safe return home." Celestine said and we toasted with our wine. We were allowed to drink but just for tonight. That night ended with laughter, memories, and of course fun.
