Chapter 117 The Unexpected and Unwanted Visitor
♫ Kevz ♫
In the middle of everything that’s happening, I’m not sure whether I should laugh or what. Imagine Lemon throwing up on Nica and now her dress is filled with vomit.
Disgusted, she let go of Lemon, and Drew took advantage of the distraction and dragged her out of the studio. I even heard him threatening her of calling the police if she comes back.
Lemon, on the other hand, headed to the restroom and when she came out, she was pale as paper. Kellen then called Lyra to clean up her mess while Lemon sit on the couch, putting her feet up and placing both hands on her navel.
I creased my forehead as I stare at her. There’s something unusual about her but I don’t want to get ahead of myself.
She throws up from time to time. She’d often look for mango or tamarind. And when Nica pulled her earlier, she looked worried as she cover her navel with a hand.
‘Could it be?’ I dismissed the thought as I think it was impossible. If ever she’s pregnant, she will surely let us know.
“What is wrong with her?!” Kellen spat at Drew when he came back.
“I don’t know. She went to the house months ago to apologize. I told her it was over and that Leslie and I are ok. So I thought she won’t cause trouble anymore,” Drew explained.
“Was that when I went to your house?”I butted in and when he nodded, I turned to Lemon. “You were there too that day right?” and her eyes widen in shock.
“You were Drew?” Drew asked her.
She bit her inner cheek as if thinking about something, “I think so,” she shrugged.
The creases on Drew’s forehead slowly deepen. It seems like he only realized why the next day, after meeting Nica, Lemon got into a relationship with Pete.
We stayed at the studio for a few hours more. The exchange of stories continued before we all decided to leave.
Lemon’s been moody. At times, she would laugh with us, then she will frown or will just stay quiet. At times she clicks her tongue irritatedly, especially when Drew’s talking.
When we decided to go home, I volunteered to drop her off at Costas. I only left when she assured me that she was not feeling sick anymore.
When I got to the parking lot, I saw Drew leaning on my car. “Why are you still here?”
“How is she?” he asked and even though he didn’t mention the name, I know exactly who he was referring to.
“She’s fine but do you notice something different about her?” and he creased her forehead. “Dude, we’ve hung out several times and we know how she is when she has her period. She’s just normal! No mood swings, no cravings. But her period this time is a bit different.”
"All I noticed is that she’s become moody."
“What about her cravings? When she cries whenever Kip scolds her? The sudden bouts of dizziness? Don’t you notice those? When Nica pulled her earlier, she covered her navel as if she’s protecting something.”
"What are you trying to say?"
“Could she be pregnant? I saw her at the OB clinic too. Did something happen between the two of you?”
Drew spaced out for several seconds before shaking his head. “Nothing! And if ever something happened between us, Leslie will surely let you guys know. Besides, if she's pregnant, she'll tell me!”
We stayed in the parking lot for several minutes. Leaning in my car, not one of us spoke until Drew pat me on the shoulder to tell me he was going home.
When I reached home, I called Lemon to check if she was alright. Thankfully she didn’t feel dizzy nor threw up.
After that last meeting, Kip gave us a one-week break in preparation for our company’s opening. And since I have nothing to do at home and I’m starting to feel bored, I decided to visit Lemon.
I arrived at ten in the morning and we ordered brunch, lunch, snacks, and dinner. It’s like we haven’t eaten for a week and now, we’re satisfying our hunger.
Our exchange of stories was nonstop too and Lemon keeps laughing, but when we started reminiscing about our past, she would tear up. I find it weird as we usually do that but it’s only now that she’s this emotional.
At nine in the evening, I bade Lemon farewell. We both need to rest since tomorrow’s Monday and it’s our first day at work. We’re not officially opened but there are things we still need to finalize.
I waited for her to finish showering before I left her in her bedroom. I even made sure her door is locked before going downstairs.
Inside my car and on my way out of the parking lot, I saw an awfully familiar woman whom I didn’t expect. It was Nica and she headed straight to the stairs.
I quickly reversed and run to the elevator. It’s already on the third floor and I’m sure she’s heading to Lemon’s unit so I went to the reception to ask the staff to send security to the fourth floor.
When I got to Lemon’s unit, they were already up against each other. Lemon’s hands are on her hair while dodging her kicks.
Before I could walk up to them, they both fell and Lemon pounced on her, punching Nica’s face nonstop. Wrapping my arms around her waist, I carried her away, just in time for the guards to arrive.
They helped Nica up and escorted her to the elevator. “Don't let her go and call the cops,” I instructed and the guards nodded in response.
“Partner…” when I turned to her, she was already clutching her stomach while trying hard to stand up. I almost fainted when I saw the blood streaming down her legs. “Call and ambu…” and before she could continue, she fainted.
‘This is how bad her period is?’
I laid her down on the floor and called for an emergency. After ten minutes or so, the medics arrived and she was carried downstairs and to the ambulance.
I held her hand on our way to the hospital. Looking at her, I noticed the scratches on her cheeks and near her lips.
“Partner…” she called in a whisper.
“I’m here, Partner.”
“Please call my parents… Don’t let anyone else know.” I did what she said and after an hour or so, her parents came to the hospital.
“What happened?” her dad asked. I paused for several seconds, not knowing how to tell them the truth. Thankfully, the doctor showed up before I could say another word.
We were informed that Lemon’s already transferred to a private ward and we quickly went to her. Her parents were standing right next to her bed while I sat behind them.
“How is she doc?” her father asked.
“He’s fine Edward, she only got minor bruises. The OB also confirmed that the baby was safe. Thank God she’s healthy, as well as her baby.”
I got chills after hearing what the doctor said. I was right all along. She really is pregnant. But why did she keep it from us?
I was quietly watching her until she opens her eyes. Her Mom attended to her while his Dad continued talking to the doctor.
“Mom, please book me a flight to Paris as soon as possible,” she said in a low voice. Her Mom nodded and Lemon closed her eyes again. Aunt Tori then sat next to me and tapped my shoulder lightly.
"What happened Kevz?" she asked and again, before I could talk, Uncle Edward sat in front of us.
I heaved a sigh before I started narrating everything. A mix of emotions can be seen on their faces, but the worry is the most evident.
“Who’s the father?” Uncle Edward asked.
I lifted my head to face him, unsure whether he was mad or he was just authoritative by nature. “I’m not sure, Uncle. Actually, Lemon didn't tell us she's pregnant. I already have a hunch as I saw her at the OB clinic last week, but she said it’s just because of her unusual period,” then her parents nodded and sighed.
"Should we let her leave for Paris?" Aunt Tori asked Uncle Edward who then looked at her daughter before nodding. "Ok, I'll book her a flight for tomorrow morning.”
I wanted to call the rest of our friends but recalling what Lemon said earlier, I can’t. she doesn’t want anyone else to know what happened and I’m sure she wouldn’t want them to know she’s leaving.
I was deep in thoughts when Uncle Ed tapped my shoulder, "Kevz, you can go home and rest, son. We’ll take care of Lemon and we’ll ask her to call you tomorrow before she leaves," he told me, smiling.
I nodded before I stood up and walked up to Lemon’s bed. I held her hand while looking at her pale face.
This girl showed us nothing but kindness. Not just to us but to our families as well. Thinking about that, I can’t help but feel angry with Drew.
If it weren’t for him, Lemon won’t go thru all these. I hope he won't’ see her and his kid for a long time so he’d get back his senses. That is if he’s the father.Download Novelah App
