Chapter 13: The Eleventh Floor - A Haven and a Confrontation
The elevator ride to the eleventh floor was filled with an air of relief and anticipation. Viole, Yoru, Bubble, and Alisa had just emerged victorious from their latest trial, and the prospect of a safe zone was a welcome change. As the doors slid open, they were greeted by the bustling streets of a vibrant city, a stark contrast to the harsh trials they had faced. The city on the eleventh floor was a marvel of architectural wonder. Tall buildings with intricate designs lined the streets, and the atmosphere was lively with vendors, markets, and people from all walks of life. The air was filled with the aroma of delicious foods, the chatter of merchants, and the occasional laughter from street performers. “This place is incredible,” Bubble said, her eyes wide with excitement. “It feels like a real city. I could get used to this.” Yoru nodded, taking in the sights. “It’s a welcome change from the constant battles. Let’s take this opportunity to rest and enjoy ourselves.” Alisa looked around with a mixture of awe and curiosity. “It’s nice to have a break from the trials. We’ve earned it.” The group made their way through the city, sampling various foods and exploring the shops. They were enjoying their victory and the rare respite from their arduous journey. The atmosphere was filled with celebration, and it was a welcome relief from the constant tension of climbing the Tower. As Viole walked through the bustling streets, he felt a strange, unsettling sensation. He glanced around, trying to pinpoint the source of his discomfort. It was then that he saw him—one of his former companions from the Tower, the very person who had betrayed him during the final trial. The sight of the traitor sent a jolt of anger and sadness through Viole. His hands clenched into fists as he struggled to control his emotions. The traitor, a man with a smirk on his face and a sense of arrogance in his posture, was casually strolling through the city as if he owned it. Viole’s heart pounded in his chest. He wanted nothing more than to confront the man, to make him pay for his betrayal. But the bustling city was not the place for such a confrontation. Causing a scene would only draw unwanted attention and potentially endanger others. Alisa, noticing the change in Viole’s demeanor, approached him with concern. “Viole, are you alright? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” Viole struggled to mask his emotions, taking a deep breath to calm himself. “I’m fine. Just… let’s keep moving.” Bubble, still curious, glanced in the direction Viole was looking. “Who’s that guy you’re staring at? He looks familiar.” Yoru, catching on to the tension, gave Viole a concerned look. “You know him, don’t you?” Before Viole could respond, a loud, slurred voice interrupted the moment. “Hey, you! The brooding guy with the serious face!” Viole turned to see a drunken man staggering toward him. The man was dressed in flashy, overly elaborate clothing, and his eyes were glazed with alcohol. His demeanor was arrogant, and he seemed to be looking for trouble. “Calm your aura, or I’ll kill you!” the drunk man said, his tone a mix of bravado and inebriation. “This city isn’t a place for your kind of attitude!” Viole’s eyes narrowed as he took in the man’s challenge. Anger flared within him, but he knew better than to escalate the situation. He forced himself to take another deep breath, trying to rein in his emotions. “Stay out of this,” Viole said, his voice cold but controlled. “I’m not interested in causing trouble.” The drunk man laughed, clearly not understanding the seriousness of the situation. “You think you’re so tough, huh? I’m not afraid of you.” Alisa stepped between Viole and the drunken man, her voice firm but calm. “We don’t want any trouble. Just leave us alone.” The drunk man, now more interested in showing off than in fighting, seemed to lose interest. He muttered something incoherent and staggered away, disappearing into the crowd. Bubble let out a relieved sigh. “That was close. We didn’t need any more complications.” Viole, still visibly tense, turned his attention back to the traitor. The man was now mingling with a group of people, laughing and acting as if nothing had happened. Viole’s anger simmered beneath the surface, but he knew he had to wait for the right moment to deal with him. Yoru placed a reassuring hand on Viole’s shoulder. “It’s not worth it to confront him here. We need to focus on the tasks ahead.” Viole nodded, his expression hard but resolute. “You’re right. I’ll handle it later. For now, let’s just enjoy the city and prepare for whatever comes next.” As the group continued to explore the city, Viole did his best to push aside his anger and focus on the present. The vibrant city offered a much-needed reprieve from their trials, and he was determined to make the most of it. Despite the lingering tension, the group managed to find moments of enjoyment. They visited shops, sampled exotic foods, and even enjoyed some of the local entertainment. The city was a welcome escape, and Viole tried to savor the rare opportunity for relaxation. As night fell, the city’s lights illuminated the streets with a warm, inviting glow. The group found a cozy tavern to rest and reflect on their journey. The atmosphere inside was lively, filled with the sounds of laughter and music. Viole, Yoru, Bubble, and Alisa gathered around a table, their faces illuminated by the soft glow of lanterns. They talked about their experiences, their plans for the future, and the trials that lay ahead. “I’m glad we had this chance to unwind,” Bubble said, her tone light and cheerful. “It’s been a long road, and we deserve a break.” Yoru nodded in agreement. “We’ve faced a lot of challenges, but we’ve come through them stronger. It’s important to take time to recharge.” Alisa smiled, her expression warm and genuine. “Thank you for including me. I’ve enjoyed getting to know you all better.” Viole, despite his lingering concerns, felt a sense of camaraderie and relief. “We’ve been through a lot together. Let’s make the most of this time and prepare for the next trial.” As they enjoyed their evening, Viole couldn’t shake the image of the traitor from his mind. The anger and betrayal he felt were still fresh, but he knew he had to be patient. The time for confrontation would come, but for now, he focused on the present and the company of his friends. The city on the eleventh floor offered a brief respite from the trials of the Tower, and Viole was determined to make the most of it. Despite the challenges that lay ahead, he found solace in the support of his companions and the promise of a brighter future.
